  1. I happen to have a set of GZR's for my up and coming build!
  2. Wilkinson WJBL200 - I actually bought a big pile of gold hardware off a chap on FB ages ago as I was planning another P bass build, so I have a set waiting for the donor bass to arrive. Of course, they also come in chrome as well as black.
  3. stunning, stunning, stunning. alas I am financially crippled for many years to come
  4. The Wilkinson midels that look like the Gotoh FB30 are actually not bad at all for the money, better than those things they but on some cheaper Fender models!
  5. Cerberus Guitars ordered a Tron themed top. If you have Facebook , you can see the top here: https://www.facebook.com/tobiascasparwood/posts/2903249199965596
  6. My mate Max is a bit of a resin expert and has been supplying his tops to lots of top guitar brands. He makes all sorts of other products too: https://www.facebook.com/tobiascasparwood https://tobiascaspar.co.uk/?fbclid=IwAR1nkHmXSsZeodzBldLhJzq_t8-vNMIn-OrQrtQ2BNe5kW7Xa-xP54w6mBU The methods he has perfected for creating resin products alleviates many of the problems associated with it and understandably his guitar tops look incredibly rich and very clear! Talented chap! Hornets nest: One for Grainger Guitars:

To buy back all the basses I had to sell when things went Pete Tong in my private life a few years ago. There are some I really miss. Other than that, Jon Shuker and I have this corking bass design ready to go. We've been talking about it for a few years now. I desire it muchly, still. It's going to be insanely good.
  10. Thank you!!!! I really appreciate the feedback. I would love for bass chatters to share my videos as I would like to reach more fellow bassists
  11. I am sure I would have still been enjoying it, but sadly, as a professional gear reviewer, I have to send kit back after I have finished my videos. I really liked the Artist model I reviewed though, way better than the lower spec version.
  12. Buy a leather pick! I was given one as a gift and it works quite well with a couple of twists of the EQ controls to suit. The one I have is large and rather thick, I can't seem to find who made it. A quick google has shown up lots of other options though. Maybe worth buying a few and having a play!
  13. I use plug-ins too. My current favourites for the majority of my sounds are both from Neural DSP. The "Nolly" and "Cory Wong" plug-ins offer a wide range of tones from glassy cleans, strat bite, crunch and metal tones. For me the trick is to emulate the sound of a room / micing up situation to make the plug-in sound more realistic - as I'd been stuck with plug-ins that weren't;t so good in the past.
  14. Absolutely! All of my music gear, including random cases and stands always live indoors.
  15. The thought crossed my mind too, many times!
  16. Probably against common views, I actually really want to try the Spector LT Darkglass preamp in my two band bass here. I like the idea of the high centre for the bass frequency and that I wouldn't have to drill a third hole for the mids, that I rarely touch anyway!
  17. I'll share my review video here for those who want to hear the LT in action. One of my students has an Aguilar loaded LX and we've compared the two. When I get a mo, if anyone is interested I'll post something. Just a quick note to say that, as I understand it, the capsule in the LT isn't the standard Darkglass version, its a Spector custom version with different EQ centres, much more in keeping with what we're used to from Spector. I really like it, it comes across as more punchy in the lows than the pillowy Tonepump. (Neither description should be taken as a negative, they're just different). https://www.bassgearmag.com/bassic-review-spector-euro4-lt-bass/
  18. Might be cheaper to have the headstock refinished than the body of another bass! Looks like a good donor!
  19. I have a whole bunch or rack gear here still, but not back in it's rack case yet! I still have a soft spot for it despite having not needed much actual back line for a while!
  20. Oh Lordy that was an AMAZING power amplifier!
  21. It depends on where you go I suppose. £200ish?
  22. @bassman_feb_64 @Edenburgh - thank me later https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/384722735901?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D171f99b4d9184258a38c72fd118d9ad8%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D384722735901%26itm%3D384722735901%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26brand%3DFender+Japan&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A10d368a3-8b1f-11ec-812d-12674ee53e80|parentrq%3Ae82a876c17e0a4d34c26b0f6ffec77ff|iid%3A1
  23. Thank you for tagging me
  24. Ok, here's what you need! @bassman_feb_64 will also want to read this too. Sorry Alan I meant to be in touch! You're best option is to source a Fender non-export CIJ PB70-70US BK. This was actually a limited edition colour of the usual olympic white PB70 (US) available from Fender Japan. The non-export models have a few things about them that makes them better in my opinion too. The bass is black and may come with a mirror scratch guard (very Phil Lynott) but I have seen the odd version that comes with black. Possibly an after market upgrade. Mine I had to source the correct 70's scratch guard. These basses come with chrome hardware, John Deacon's upgrades (that came with his black respray around 1985) includes a Schaller 3D bridge and very likely Schaller tuning keys, though I much prefer Gotoh's FB30 (Or the Wilkinson equivalent) simply because I find the longer key shafts more appealing on a 70's P - think pre '76 nickel tuners and you'll know what I am talking about. Bass Player Magazine did a whole thing on John Deacon that I helped write, if it helps. Funnily, the Nate Mendel is an option as it's the next best thing, but the PB70-US is just a far better bass, I only wish it came with an Ash body. - On the subject of Ash body, if you wanted to capture John Deacon's early years, then I'd recommend the Fender non-export PB70-70US Ash RW which came with a sunburst finish, as his two precision basses were, stock (the TV script version and the silver spaghetti logo bass) For my own basses, I am lucky enough to have a natural 76 Precision, which is just delicious and my next Deacon build is going to be a black version. I think this will be number 4, I can't remember! I sold my first black P to a lovely chap here on BassChat and miss it dearly! Such is life and bills eh!
