Or longer screws if you have any. Use steel ones, not weaker brass ones that can sheer more easily.
Are you Keef Richards? I thought he was the last man alive who could get away with calling women 'chicks'. Birds is fine though. Less hippy.
Huh, that's odd. I thought that would be big news.... There's seems to be an absence of a certain ornithological piece? A headline regarding mass awareness of a certain avian variety.. Oh have you not heard? I was my understanding that everyone had heard?
Me too - works a treat! Why on earth do you need two F1s though, what kind of monster rig are you running?!
Big grin... Well, my main rig is a pair of Hartke Hydrives and the LH1000 - I really wanna get my hands on the new Kilo, which is (or on paper at least) a true stereo head. In the meantime, Hartke don't make a lil F1 sized head - so, just for shits and giggles I have put together a superlightweightanddisgustinglypowerful HiFi Stereo rig! I run (as far as possible) all my effects to the top end so the bottom end gets left alone. I've also found that the added 'muscle' helps reproduce those low notes of my 7 stringer. It's not all showy and 'eeeee look what I've got' or anything, not that kinda guy at all - I just really love listening to yummy stereo effects! So all of that aside, there is something slightly perverse about having all that power in something that weighs well - the whole rack cant weigh anymore than about 6 kilos! I'd have to stick it on some scales - but that's about 1000W! Golly!

Quick update, I've done a conversion on a US F1. It has been running for a good hour whilst I spank the **** out of it and it sounds fine! Fuse in the US model was a T6.3Al and I have swapped it to match my UK F1 @ T3.15Al.
The picture of the Blacksmith was not pulled It is here Talkbass link Info @ post #269 and pic @ post #274 And no - it is not 900wattish .... But 1.600w in 4 ohms
Ahh thanks HogBob, very much appreciated. Wow - That thing looks immense! Reminds me of the ole IBM Servers I used to work on! BIG with a dominating black fascia. I love the idea and would love to know more about the spec. How heavy etc. If it's the RH450 programmed preamp then I won't be interested, but if they did a Stacatto 51 version (or indeed a preamp that can do both) then I might like to give it a listen out of interest.

I'm in Costessey.
Ahh that's very kind of you - I'm gonna bring Stag and my stack with me so will throw it in my estate. I appreciate the gesture! - Having said that, we could meebe see if there is anyone else in the city or on the way that might wanna cadge a lift. Stag, is Basscat comin'?
Dan... If i can cadge a lift ill come along! Petrol money in of course. And i can bring some pretty toys too
Yes mate, think I remember sayin' I would last time. No problemo.
The amps are pretty good. The speakers are a little woolly, but do add some nice growly midrange to a jazz bass.
Yep, same experience here so far. I love the amps in to other cabs, but never got what I wanted from an MB cabinet - but hey, each to their own eh? - loadsa people love 'em.

I think this thread has done it's course really. The OP has hopefully realised that BassChat *isn't* a marketplace with a forum tagged on - it's a thriving community of discussion that happens to have an area for selling goods. Coming along and shouting your mouth off (capitals=shouting) about not being able to sell an instrument will not, as has been clearly been seen here, be met with open arms. If anyone has an issue with how the forum is running, then it's best to PM the Mods or Admins, who will be happy to discuss further. George, if you spent more time getting involved with the community, it wouldn't take long for you to realise what a great place this is to be. However, If it doesn't suit what you want or need, You are not being forced to stay here - but there's more than 10,000 people who log in to BassChat who do enjoy it!

Hi Schnozzallee, If you are that way inclined, I would wholeheartedly recommend a headless bass if you have had back or shoulder complaints. I have a Shuker Headless 6 string. Until you've played one, you just don't realise how much weight is hanging off the end of the neck with the headstock and tuning keys. The effect of which is amplified by being at the other end of the fulcrum. I have a dodgy ole back which can give me grief - but I have noticed NO side effects now that I play Headless. I also chose great sounding tone woods for my bass that would be lighter too, for example White Ash wings over normal Ash as it has a similar tone, yet shaves off a bit more weight!
That's some good info, cheers dude (I'm doing some work pretending to be Duff in a G'n'R tribute soon, so quite timely!) - on a strict 'as-little-as-I-can-get-away-with' budget, then, what'd be the most authentic chorus to pick up? Shall shortly have a Precision and Hartke aluminium-coned cab(s), so hopefully that'll get me in the ballpark...
I guess you could try those in Chris' earlier post or indeed TRR's - but if you can get to a guitar shop, see if you can try out one or two different types. Hmmmm.. do line 6 have a chorus/flanger pedal in one box? Or is my memory failing me?
Right, I'm looking at getting something for loading some audio samples into for gigs, to play before/between songs etc. Sending it straight to the PA - I'm sure you know the kind of thing. Was looking at the Digitech Jamman, and then getting that external footswitch to select between samples easily, but then I noticed the Jamman JML2. I'm not too bothered about the stereo thing - we'll probably just use it to send mono signals anyway. But am I right in thinking that the JML2 does away with the need for the external footswitch? Those two extra switches look to do the same patch up/down job that the footswitch did, and I don't think we'll need to change the mode of operation so that third switch looks kinda useless. And just to check, the Jamman can be told to just play a sample once, right? Without looping it? Cheers!
Hey mate! I have said pedal. Yup you are right. There is actually a comparison PDF file on the Digitech website, but what you have said is correct. One interesting little thing - and maybe a bit naughty, Digitech - is that it ISN'T stereo!!! (I knew that before I purchased). It has stereo ins and outs (which are pass through sockets) - but there is only a MONO looper which mixes the left and right together, then sends it's output back to the stereo outputs! To be honest, from what you are describing, it sounds a bit overkill, if it's only for playing audio samples to PA. How about just an MP3 player, or - an old band of mine used to use a Minidisc Player. - One with an infrared remote control - so it could sit off stage and a band member could hit the number of the next track to play. (Mine has a function that makes it pause after every track!)

I think it is safe to say that Jon is up there with the very best Luthiers, but at a price which still has me befuddled! Jon must be doing this for the love of it alone!!

Ashdown bass drive plus pedal VU meter and dial broken...
Dood replied to StevieD_FenderP2009's topic in Effects
Oh really? Well that's fair enough. I've heard before though that Ashdown are REALLY protective over their VU meters and will only sell them to you after you've passed a rigorous questionnaire which is why I think it'll probably be easier to just find replacements somewhere else Cheers for the reply though
I suspect that the VU meter will probably be designed for the pedal and thus ones from the likes of RS and Maplin probably won't fit anyway. - Just speculating, I'm not 100% certain of that. I'd need to see a schematic diagram to be able to see what current meter they use. As for the value of LF pot', well that is likely to be stamped on the back or side of the pot' itself. Again, a schematic diagram of the pedal would tell you also. -
Hi guys, I've had a chat with Charic and the East Anglian Bass Bash is gonna be booked for 9th January at Slepe Hall. I will amend the first post with all the necessary details as I get them.
