One white haired, arthritic bass player says to the other; "Do you remember, before we started collecting our pension, there was going to be an Anglia bass bash" ? "Huh" ?
lol, sadly I'm not in a position to do the arranging for the immediate future so if you fine peeps in the Cambs area are able to rustle up some possible venues, that'd be reet greet. Anyone have any updates?
If you were offereing it a a really daft price it would have gone by now. if it's not selling at that price you either can go lower, not sell it, or swap it for something else.
Wise words my friend. Well, early days I guess - but yeah, I'm after a MarkBass F1 or poss F500 as a trade + cash. -
Is your power chord connected to a socket with ground connection? 99.9% of the hiss and static cases are caused by this! Make shure you have ground anywhere you plug your amp!
The UK mains supply is in general pretty clean and it is actually unlikely that 'hiss' is caused by bad earthing. Hum can be caused by earth loops or bad earthing in an environment, along with strip lighting near to the equipment. A quick tip for helping to isolate where the hiss is coming from:- With your gear plugged in normally (so that you can hear the hiss) get another good guitar lead and plug just one end of the lead into the 'Effects Return' on the back of the LH500. Does the hiss go away? If it does, then the hiss is caused by either the preamp or whatever is plugged in to the amplifier (e.g Bass). If this is the case AND the hiss doesnt go away when you unplug your bass - it's liable to be the preamp causing the issue, not the bass. The LH500 has a very simple preamp and I would then suspect a possibly noisey valve. If the hiss *does* go away when you unplug your bass, there's the culpret!

Infact, with decent earplugs in (like ERs) - I've been to a few gigs where you could hear how rubbish the PA mix actually was when the volume isn't tearing your ears to pieces! - I always wear my plugs at gigs, unless of course the volume isn't a problem!

Brilliant stuff Gareth!

It will be just fine! - What kind of music will it be used for? If you are using distortion pedals and the speaker cabinet has a tweeter, you might want to turn it off (or down) so the distortion doesnt sound too harsh.
Was this the BBNE2 6 string like Nathan plays currently? I asked Nathan about it at Bass Day and he said that it was always meant to go on sale to the public but it never materialised. The only BBNE2 6 strings are Nathans Still, the 5 string is still an awesome beast. The finish quality is staggering... about as good as it gets. Of course, it sounds great too... its one of my favourite sounding basses... but when you look in it, the preamp is quite comprehensive!
Ooooh! I didn't know that! Thanks, I'll go have a search for some pics! I only ever saw him with a TRB. I just noticed I typed IIRC instead of AFAIK too in my post! doh!
I like this a lot - my only concern would be that it could introduce mains hum into the signal
The description says it's a DC supply so would not induce and mains born noise, even if it were very close to signal cabling etc.
Cute idea but I think it would only work with guitar and bass rigs that were the same height on stage. Also, if you're going to raise the standards of lighting for your amp then it will also look weird if you don't do the same for back lighting the wall behind you, the drummer and the keyboardists (if you have one) just so there's some consistency...not as simple in execution as it appears.
Steve, who gives a monkeys about the rest of the band - it's the Bass gear that is the most important on the stage!!
Look at the pinned Ear Plug thread.... then go and buy some ACS ER15's.
Agreed, or if you play in a particularly loud band, you might consider going for a higher attenuation ER25's. I actually have two sets of filters for my plugs, one of each value depending on the gig. ACS are resellers for ER plugs as are many other outlets. The plugs themselves and the filters are made by a company called Etymotic Research (Hence the ER in the name) - You can check out their own website for more details. ACS will just arrange taking a mould of your ear and deal with sending them off, taking payment and arranging delivery of you finished product. I highly recommend these plugs - they are brilliant and worth every penny. When you first get them, they might 'sound' a little strange, but your brain will soon get used to them and you'll wonder why you didn't get them sooner!

Pictures!!!! Little mark on the bottom There's a little scratch on the side of the controller too There a tiny scratch between the 1&2 pedals and another between the 2 & 3 pedals, if you can make them out in the pic! -
shame you don't want a not quite so compact Hughes and Kettner head
Sorry mate! I'm sorted for my BIG RIG! It's a Hartke sized monster - but I want something for smaller stuff and the RH450, although absolutely ace at everything, wasn't quite to my taste. If anything the Staccato would have been a better choice. -

Hi all, I bought an RH450 and footcontroller brand new 4th September 2010 and have decided I prefer the sound of the MarkBass F1 for a lightweight portable rig. I'm therefore putting this one up for sale as I intend to grab an F1 or possibly F500 depending on price. Original boxes, Head, Foot controller, Power cable, MIDI Cable, manuals. No trades (unless it is an F1 + cash.) Price is a give away £650 + shipping (or free collection). I do need to take some pictures for you so that you can see a line mark on the bottom where I slid the amp out of a rack. There is also a loose foot that I have used a small piece of plastic bag to act as a gasket! (You can't see it at all and does not affect the amplifier's operation!). Ok, Pictures later.. Thanks Please do PM me as I will get an email notification on my phone quicker than popping in to check the thread. Dan {edit for clarity} I'm sorry, I really can not go any lower with the price plus shipping.
Some musicians seem to question why they need public liability cover, but it is essential if you're gigging. For example, if a member of the public is seriously injured at a gig by your equipment, falling over a lead, a fault in your amp causes a fire etc. Those sorts of claims often run into tens of thousands (and in rare cases millions) of pounds. The venue's public liability insurance may cover the claim, but the venue's insurer can (and often will) seek to recover from you or your band if it was your negligence which caused the accident/damage. I'm an insurance lawyer by day, and I see far too many claims of that type where people are inadequately covered.
Great to have some feedback from the industry, thanks Simon!
