2.
Dave B HD (Has Deafnessfromstupidlylouddrummer)
lol! My deafness would be 'Has DeafnessFromOneHundredBassPlayersDoingShedBuildingImpressionsAtBassDayWhilstAttemptingToDemonstrates TheSubtletiesOHisPlayingOnTheOtherSideOfTheRoom'
 3.
Bump. Maybe this should be in "Other musically related stuff"?
Pretty bordeline, can be an 'effect' too I guess!
 4.
I'd hardly call Nigel a Bass God
I was talkin' about me! teee heee!
Dood - Your such a shmoozer! did you give Billy one of your cards too??
Ha ha ha!!! Good to meet you ma man! - Nah, but Billy kept on trying to give me his. I said, "Billy! cut it out! - I have the last 30 you mailed to me and my post office still has the jumper you knitted and..."
 5. Cheat sheets / Crib sheets for the win! I've had similar situations too and have found that a gentle reminder of the structure on a sheet is enough. All the fills and licks I am fine with but I make a note of stops and changes that could catch me out.
 6. For the amount of money they aren't, you could probably just pickup a Hartke LH1000 second hand and bridge that in to the single cab. 1000W RMS (actually Bass Gear Magazine tested them at 1100W RMS!!).
 7. I have had the pleasure of this fine specimen in my paws. It's beautiful! Plays like a dream!
 8. Charic, DaveB Ha ha! Yes indeed! - it would glow bright blue when I plug in to magical snake oil drenched cables and speakers made out of moon dust and unicorn tears!
 9.
There were pics up on Talkbass of a 900W (ish) 'Blacksmith' amp by TC. Huge amp probably for big bands like Metallica
Sounds like the one. I'll go take a look!
 10. Ere's a piccie - a bit of blatant self-promotion, but hey honoured to be stood next to a bass god and what a humble and pleasant guy.
 11.
The worst case i've ever seen this on was a hoover washing machine (total crap) when I did a stint working in retail ages ago. When I asked the hoover rep what HD stood for she said "High Door, so it's easier to get you load in and out see". That is truly shameless, still a crap washing machine.
Cool! lol lol - In that case my Shuker basses have been upgraded to HD* *"Has Dood"
 12.
Thanks for the reply, I can't remember settings I made a year ago to stuff, let alone a decade ago... Once I get my hands on a USB/MIDI cable in a few days I'll see if I can edit MIDI stuff on the V-AMP and approach it from that end.. In some ways that would be preferable because I would not need to reprogram my Motif as well.. Cheers Mark
Sure, sure I agree. - If it helps, I bought a cheap and cheerful USB>MIDI converter cable off ebay for my laptop - it was about a 5er and works a treat!
 13. Do we have any more 'photos? Would be great to see you all!
 14.
I can't believe how many people were there yesterday that I didn't meet (or recognise)! We definitely need to have an assigned time for a BassChat meet & greet - maybe at the bar, lol. I was also 'working' for most of the day with Phil on the BassGear stand so didn't get a huge amount of time to wander around. I did think there was a slightly strange feel to the GB area. Couldn't quite put my finger on it but it felt a bit cliquey and I spotted quite a few people walk over and then away again without getting close to any of Bernie's lovely basses. We were next to the Shuker stand and Jon seemed to be running it as a demo facility with a few fine musicians - Dood, I can't believe that was you and I didn't put two and two together when you were playing! I did catch some of Anna's midi stuff very early on, really interesting stuff. It didn't seem as much of a slap fest as I expected but I did notice the usual phenomena of hardly anyone playing something that they'd ever use in a band environment. Everyone seemed desperate to show off their technical chops. There was a point early one when Anna and Jon's other demo player were duetting (either with some midi drums or a drum track) and it was so refreshing to hear people playing what I would describe as 'music' I only got to see Victor Baily and thought he had some really interesting things to say about this sort of thing. Loved the 'money frets' tale, lol. Loved his 'tone' on a few things when he was just noodling around too, maybe more so than when he was demonstrating the Weather Report / Jaco stuff. Shame to see how his illness is taking its toll on him though. Some form of muscular dystrophy I think
Ahhhhh Poop!!! Yes, I have to admit that prior to going to Bass Day, I didn't read through this thread properly and hence didn't take note of who would be attending and who were going to be on the various stands. DOH! That's my fault - had I have known I would have come and found you. Sorry!
 15.
Hi Dood, Can I pick your brains please? Got the X15 hooked up to V-AMP and mostly working fine given that ART/Yamaha's version of MIDI commands is different from Behringers :-) however the worst issue is that the Bypass button on the X15 sends Midi 84 which slams the Behringer into config mode which is not quite what I would like - I would prefer it to put the V-AMP into straight through mode... The ART manual is not clear on how you might change the Midi Control change from 84 to summat else - just that setting option 6 in the bypass button setup sends 84, without mentioning what options 1-5 might send differently... 84 is a real pain because it tends to clear the previous setup in the V-AMP... Any ideas? CHEers Mark
Hi Mark - well, I know exactly what you mean and I certianly did do *something* to change the MIDI channel send myself....err.r..... it's just a case of what! I'm sorry to say the ole grey cells aren't what they used to be and I can't remember how to access and edit the board. Mine *may* have been a little different as I ended up buying the upgrade chip from ART too. I've been using a Roland FC-200 MIDI board for probably ten years or so now and the menu system on that is similarly convoluted! - Thankfully my TC effect rack has a 'learn' button - so I can config the effects unit instead. Would have been far easier to have the same function on the Behri' eh?!! Sorry I can't be much more help but I am pretty certain I had the Bypass button doing something useful!
 16. I didn't get a chance to take a closer look at the gear on the TC stand at BassDay. Did anyone pickup any fliers or take pictures? I was intrigued to find out what the 3u TC amp was there. Anyone know?
 17.
Yeah, who was that girl slapping on the Shuker stand...?
Ahh Hannah! Yes, fellow Shuker artsist and a great player and a really nice person! - She know's her gear that's for sure. I missed her using her MIDI set up - as I was...grrrr..sat in traffic till about 1pm!!
 18.
The Pennfab ebay a/c seems to be run by the same peeps as stagebox.com website who don't seem to list any Penn stuff at all which seems a bit strange. I've just found http://www.proaudiostash.co.uk, so I can give them a shout as well - they seem to have at least the corners & handles, but only list a few different connector dishes - looks like I need a D023K to take neutrik 'D-series' speakon & jack connectors
I've bought from ProAudioStash in the past, good prices and service received!
 19. Hey everyone! - I had a great time yesterday! - Though I didn't *really* get that much of a chance to wander round the other stands! I demo'd on the SHuker stand all day - well - I think I spent most of the day talking about Jon's basses, more than playing them - but ot was great to have lots of people come up to give Jon's basses (including my two) a whirl. I did spot a few familiar looking faces in the crowd. I only wish I had a big sign saying "Hi, It's Dood from Bascchat here" in the effort to be able to put some more faces to names here on the forum. I met a few of you, but..oh..well, maybe next time! Had fun up on the Rotosound stand too, but have to agree, I was 'bassed out' by the early evening as there were a couple of really.. ehem 'loud' stands nearby! - I was doing some nice dynamic pieces to show off a more subtle side to playing bass, but unfortunately, I was smothered by 'shed building' as I like to call it! So, I didn't get to have a huge nose at other gear. but had lots of fun!
 20.
if you look in he effects forum there was a discussion on it. I bought a LIne 6 floor pod xt thingy, great except i found myself using 3 things the tuner the SVT model and the chorus sometimes. After looking at very expensive pedals on the net i found a schematic for something and thought 'i could make that' so i was after some kinda overdrive, or svt, fender front end build. looked round and liked the sound of what the sft could do, found a schematic and veroboard layout from a backwardly engineered one. It's not a million miles away from the 'flipster' project and close to a svt with transistors instead of vaulves. It shares a enclosure with a small clone clone and a sovtek big muff clone, its pretty good, except i think i put a liner pot on the gain instead of the log pot... oops. PM me if you want and ill find the link to the schematic/vero layout
Thanks Luke! I appreciate it. I'll go look for the thread and will PM you shortly!
 21.
google tuxguitar
A brilliant and free alternative to guitar pro! Very good too - thank you to the person who recommended it to me!
 22.
Busy time eh? I'll ask around although some idea of budget would be ideal.
Well, the budget would be simple to work out really. Much like the other Bass Bashes that have run - It has been a case of charging say a tenner on the door and the 'hire' gets taken out of the kitty and the rest of the money goes to a charity of choice, which I think is a great idea. Then it's just down to getting enough people to come to make it a worthwhile do - Which as far as I can tell, has never been a problem!!! Cambridge to me seems like a good place to do the bash - I really don't mind the hour trip down the road.. especially in comparison to the rather gruelling trip to Bass Day over in Manchester! 3.5hrs more like!
 23.
caitlinbread sft is based on an ampeg preamp isn't it? it's pretty good, well my homemade version is
Actually, tell me more about your homemade SFT!?
 24. Sorry guys, I've been totally bogged down with other stuff this month.
 25. Kev's BlueTube pedal for sale has the Fender Tone stack in it.
