I have'nt.
Yep, all the time on my 6 & 7 strings. Really handy for tapping and tricky chordal parts where it can help to keep the parts sounding leaner and not having to worry about ringing out strings. It's as handy as a dampener pedal on a piano.
  2.
I'm pretty sure they're all standard 9v barrell type plugs with negative ground so a standard supply should work. Nothing out of the ordinary that might use 18v or reverse polarity.
Yup agree with you there - So a standard 9V DC PSU that has the capacity to handle the current drain of all the pedals and one of those 'daisy chain' cables you can get from Maplin would be fine.
  3.
Here's a piccie HTH, Ian
Looks just what I need Ian! - I'll take it! - Lemme drop you a PM
  4. "Funk Roots". Sounded good to me - and I a very quick google didn't show up anything specific.
  5.
Dust comes free!
Hey ya mate! Thanks so much for posting a pic, It looks like this tray will be too deep for me specifically at 365mm. I can go to 300mm max - but I guess someone with a full depth rack case will be fine with. Again, cheers, I appreciate it - but I think Bottle's tray will be right for my gear.

    Avi audio to mp3

I found a freebie program on the net to do exactly that - uninspiringly called 'AVItoMP3' - I'm not sure if there was a mac version though. Failing that, you could import the AVI in to Reaper and then export the track to MP3 that way - but would require more work than a simple app. - As it happens, I was using YouTube videos to make audio loops!
  7.
Cool! Just been out and retrieved said shelf - here are the measurements: front-to-back total depth = 255mm, tray size = 230mm x 440mm, white powder-coated steel, 2U. Piccies up tomorrow once I've got them off of my phone. HTH, Ian
Yarrrrrp! That's sounding good so far! It's meeting the size requirements for sure! Wow, so many offers! Which to choose! - Thanks guys, I really appreciate it!
  8. Hey chap - well - to be honest, any shelf that is the right size etc and doesnt cost stupid prices like the TC one is a serious contender to be honest! Pictures and measurements from anyone who has shelves available will be very much appreciated!
  9.
Looking to get power supplies for some pedals, do Boss, Digitech Fender pedals all use the same connector to pedal, was going to get one of those Boss power supplies off ebay with 6 outputs Would it work?
Hey Bero, you might need to be a bit more specific - as one or two pedals *do* use a different type of power supply than the standard Boss AC>DC adaptor. For example, my Digitech Looper requires an AC>AC type instead. If you list what you have, we'll be able to advise better
  10.
It's all cos I'm detuned A,D,A,D,G really. I'm struggling to get the lows out at the moment so that's what the man suggested! I'm open to any other ideas if you have any? Also I don't wanna lug around a wall of death everywhere!!!
I'm assuming that Alex has recommended his 'Big One' and a hefty power amp to drive it? Certainly on paper (as I haven't had the opportunity to hear Ale's cabs yet) - it looks like a system that can deliver and I trust Alex's judgement as he knows his sh*t if you pardon the expression. One of my Shuker basses is designed to tune down to low F# and I can appreciate the issues you may be having getting those tunings to be heard. As you have pointed out too - I don't relish the thought of carrying around a dinosaur sized (and designed in the same time period) rig.
  11. Although not what I was thinking about at first - but I did stumble on a resource for the Muff'n schematic to compare against the afore mentioned Alembic and Trace schems. I have to say I am pretty enamoured with the idea of the single valve Hartke version though - I haven't seen a diagram for that one so can't really comment further. http://www.freestompboxes.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&p=43256
  12. Hmmm! Interesting this post should arise - as I was just thinking the other day how nice it would be if Hartke put their LH amplifier preamps in a box and sold it seperately. It's just a killer preamp - so simple and great sounding. If a FET / IC version could do / sound the same it'd be an absolute winner in any set up. Especially those who want a simple preamp to drive a power amp / PA via the DI output. Love mine! That's got the cogs turning!
  13.
I liked the look of the Hartke Kilo, whatever happened to it ?
Larry suggested back in June time they were expecting it out in August - but I think it hasn't made it out yet.
  14.
I have been chatting to/hassling Alex at Barefaced and after he very kindly and patiently guided me through what I need to get for the sounds I want, it transpires that I will be needing a bigger boat as it were(jaws reference) So I'm wondering what 1k amp heads I should be looking at, any help or suggestions would be appreciated. The reason for all this craving for power is my drop tuning of a five string to get the brown notes out!
Hey Meenie! Did Alex suggest the Hartke LH1000? I reckon it's the bargain of the century - even more so if you grab one second hand.
  15. It's a shame you are in Italy as I could find a use for a 10" and the 5" cone - but I think shipping for the items would be prohibitive for my cost saving project.
  16.
A bit off topic by here goes. I was a huge Bon Jovi fan back in the late 80's early 90's. Seen them about 8 times. The first time we had Jon flyin gover the audience in a cape. lest item i saw them (Hyde Park) we was dressed in jeans and t-shirt, hardly moving and looked fed up. These days i find the tribute bands like By Jovi and the Bon Jovi Experience put more of an effort in to their, admittedly small, shows than the real deal. At a great cost saving as well. Just saying.
Love your posts Dave, that's actually a really good point. With reference to the cost saving - I think these days as we're all a bit more strapped for cash, rising costs of shows to see big bands could make tribute shows a bit more appealing? - I mean - I was offered a Muse ticket the other day for £45 - I love the band n' everything, but seriously! - It'd cost about the same again to arrange travel as well, so the costs start mounting up. Wembley, according to google has a capacity of 90,000 - even at 20 quid a ticket - thats hulluva lot of profit surely?
  17.
A lest with tribute bands they have made an effort. I would have thought a lot more work goes in to the good ones than just a covers band. Just look at the Australian Pink Floyd or Bootleg Beatles (amongst others) to see the effort some go to.
Definitely a point I'd like to pick up on. Some tribute bands do a great job - lots of effort and finance going in to making a great show, which makes the ticket price more worthwhile. Pat on the back for them. What I do object to - and not mentioning the band's name, is paying 8 quid to see a bunch of bored..well, I won't even call them musicians, in jeans and t-shirts not even pretending to be 'the band' - whilst the 'singer' is under some sort of dillusion that he *actually is* the person he is doing a bad job of mimicking. We've all seen those bad 'X-Factor' contestants on YouTube who go on the show dressed as Michael Jackson.. yeah - really that bad!!
  18.
So either Hartke will be bringing out some blendable drive preamps.... or his old Pearce and Ampegs will be hidden in a rack off stage!
Hmmm - a Hartke Kilo on steroids maybe? Now THAT is an amp I am already interested in - a Sheehan mod version would be a killler! I don't think it will stop Billy using Pearce as outboard as a lot of artists have racks of preamps etc despite being endorsed by one company. As far as I am aware at least, the Ampeg SVT 4's were only used to amplifier his already distorted tone - so I guess it wouldn't matter if he used the super clean LH1000's for that job anyway. I'm not 100% certain, so am happy to be put right on that one. As for the BSP preamp - I guess he'd drop it from the rig completely as the Pearce would do exactly the same anyway?
  19.
Slightly OT... but how do you actually pronounce his surname? Is it Hart-kuh? Hart-key? I ask simply out of interest...
Hart-Key
  20.
Hartke are excellent, and Larry Hartke is a man who will stand by his product! He did that "certifiable" advert campaign a couple of years ago with his telephone number attached so players could ring him and chat about amps! Very cool!
Yeah, quite a suprise when it's Larry who picks up the 'phone too and not a secretary etc!
  21. Ahhh yes! I have been watching the story unfold for quite sometime now! - I was pointed toward some posts on TalkBass about Billy leaving Ampeg and at the time it was a 'hint' that Billy was moving to Hartke. I've just read the official release on Larry's Facebook page and some chap on TalkBass has posted an email reply directly from Billy himself. As for Hartke - Anyone who has been on BassChat for any more than five mins will know I am a massive fan and a proud Hartke Artist. I have to say, Larry is a really good guy and cares for his artists, which means a lot.
  22.
Looking this up and it is a beauty, exactly the sort of thing I'm after.
http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=87360 Here's mine for a close up look.
  23.
I remember things as being A = 1.5", B = 1.625", C = 1.75" with A being the default for Jazzes and C being the default for Precisions. Getting a Jazz neck for a Precision was the hot setup in the 1980's.
Ahhh thank you! Yes, that would certainly ring true for my Jazz Bass Special - all intensive purposes a P bass with a Jazz neck - and were out in the mid to late 80's.
  24.
Might be able to help you out with one - have one similar to it knocking around at home with nowt to do. I'll measure it up tonight depth-wise and give you a shout, maybe grab a piccie or two (plus I'm just down the road in Cambridge) HTH, Ian
Also very much appreciated! Thanks!
  25.
I have 3 of those metal rack trays if any RH450 owners are interested; not looking for a massive amount for them. I did a very similar thing to rackmount the head unit from a H&K bassbase combo, if you don't trust your ability to mark and drill the holes accurately you simply get a handful of large washers and you can get them to fit!

Dood. I work for AudioSpares. Rack Shelves are my friend. Let me know what you need and I'll arrange a 10% discount code for you… Maybe more if you ask nice :-) http://www.audiospares.com/product.php?pro...at=0&page=1 - This kinda thing…?
Hi Guys - I'm certainly interested and his a reply to both of you. I'm using a short rack case and can not go over 300mm deep. I can go to a maximum of 2u safely though. So if either of you can help, that'd be brilliant! Ideally, I am looking at a 2u tray that is around 250mm deep - there's one I have spoted on ebay (in the list above). However I don't think it has any guide holes in - Yes, I'll be getting the drill and rubber washers out for sure! Thank you guys - I f*cking love BassChat, what a community!
