1. Woh! Almost too simple! Just looked at my 3u box and it looks like I can do the same (not that I need to as I don't have an SVT5.. ) but thats a 'handy to know' anyway! Is it possible to mount the handle back on minus the..umm 'cup' bit?
 2. I guess it's also down to personal taste as well. Being able to mix and match preamps with different power amps - and cost too. maybe you want to buy a really expensive preamp (read as 'top notch') but cant afford a big power amp to go with it. I've bought gear this way previously. Then when I had the cash upgraded to a nice power amp later. There are those who like a really complicated signal chain too - and want to run different preamps with outboard effects. Having seperates can make it easier to get the tones you want. For example running an old Pearce BC-1 along side a Trace V-type preamp and mixing the two in to one power amplifier. So, in short - it's what you want from a bass rig that will help you decide. If you prefer 'plug and play' then maybe a head will be just fine.
 3.
Either that or get the drummer to build his own 'custom' kit using drums with no reverb.
... or give it to the Bass Player/ Keyboard player to sort out, as they are more likely to be geeky than the neanderthal behind the kit he he he he (Sorry Thomas, love ya really)
 4. Yeah, they're the ones. Shipping isn't too bad - and I hope that excise/handling wont be too bad - If I get stung it'll be 20% which will be another 100 quid on top I reckon. which is still flippin good with the controler as well. I'm thinking about jumping on it - I only got another F1 recently - which I love - but I'm coming round to the idea of having the multiband comp, tube sim and parametric EQ all on one unit - I can then sell the TC Nova Dynamics, EBS Multicomp and the F1 as well if I need a bit of cash. GAS! *rolling eyes!* - oh well - I need a bit of cheering up!
 5.
Yeah, i'm after my ashdown rig on payday, I'd have contacted them today, and they're closed of a weekend! It's just me being inpatient! haha
Ahhh that'd be the G.A.S talking then!
 6. I'm tempted by one of the eBay ones - refurbished with a free foot controller!
 7.
Of course, there would have to be a reserved room for the SVT rigs...... T
I think SVTs are gonna get mentioned a lot now! ha ha ha!! made me lol that did!
 8.
I've probably seen more pictures of your bass than anybody else's and never knew it had LEDs in it!
Funnily - I didn't know it had LEDs in it until I went to pick up the Bass from Jon!!! Honestly! - It was a surprise and a gift from Jon. A really nice and touching pressie. We both laughed out loud when he switched them on for the first time. We both know it's completely OTT - but then - I've got a top quality slice of Birdseye Maple and AMAZING colour change flip paint - so really - the LEDs will be nice to pop on for a few seconds in a performance! It suits my slightly tongue in cheek approach!
Those lights look fantastic! All the other basses I've seen with LEDs have either been very utilitarian, or very tacky. This manages to be neither.
That's very kind of you to say so! Thanks! The 'Doodle' is my little signature - I've got it on my 7 string too - but it doesn't light up. Just looks nice n' tasteful I think!
IMO, LEDs on the side are a good idea. On the front, they're just another way of adding virtual inches to your manhood; buy a guitar whilst you're at it.
I think as dot markers, they are really helpful on dark stages - though I'm not *quite* sure what key my markers are showing me! ha!
 9.
Hey. Just wondering if anyone has ordered from anyone in the past with any manufactures on their artist endorsee program? i've just come into an ashdown and an engl endorsement, and i'm looking at ordering my bass rig on the 30th of this month, with the view of getting this delivered no later than five days later, due to a big gig. any ideas?
Hi PaulE - Errrmmm I'm not really sure what you are asking! - Yes, I order lots of things through Endorsement / Artist relations. Are you wanting to know how long it takes to deliver? - Then you should be talking to the company, not us - I mean that in the nicest way - but some companies, like the ones I deal with are BRILLIANT and get a next day delivery virtually everytime - but that's not to say that other companies have different T&Cs with a view to shipping. Best check with them - and good luck!
 10.
Apologies. Will do. Thanks AJ
Good man Aj. Cheers
 11.
The ebay auction is going rather well, I could get a little more than £575 for it on there.
I think you need to make it clear that you are not willing to sell your item at the price you have advertised it for. Thus, I think it would be wise to withdraw it from sale IF you only want to sell the item on eBay. It's not really fair on BassChatters and - as it also constitutes an auction, (as you are trying to 'up' the price) it is against T&Cs. Sorry, but have a think about what you prefer to do and make it clear on your advert please. Dood Moderator.
 12. f*ck my ole boots, is this *still* going?
 13.
Would it be a problem if an Anglia bash happened soon after the London one ? different folks are likely to go, so quick repetition may not be an issue ?
Point taken! I think we'd get some people from further north too.
If the venue is chosen carefully, volume problems can be minimised by thoughtful, planned, amp placement T
...and torture.
 14.
In your defence you only said he used one. You didn't say that he was any good.
Saved! Cheers buddy! Pheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew!!
 15.
Like this? The only good example of good use was about the 2 minute mark when he used it during a harmonic
Oh good grief! I stopped watching after about 30 seconds. CRINGE music! lol
 16. Didn't Randy Coven have one on a pink 80's bass? I seem to remember he made good use of it, in much the same way as say, Dave Gilmour would on guitar. Very musical and expressive in a solo context.
Ahh crap spelt custom wrong
I've edited your title for you
 18.
the last one was only a month or two ago ! T
Best we leave it a few months so they're not too close together? - I'm fine with telling people whats gonna happen if we have a decent venue. Like - anyone who sits on their own amp slap bassing the sh*t out of their own instrument all afternoon with no thought for anyone else, like a certain person did at a previous bash, will get ejected!! lol lol - I am, as you can see <<<<<< fitted with lazers!
 19.
is there anyway you can get l.e.d's put in a bass? if so how much. shiiiiiiiiiiiiny
Martin Simms http://www.simscustom.com/html/00leds.htm can retrofit LEDs to your bass - or sells bass necks that you can fit to your own Bass body with LEDs already installed. OR - you can have a Bass made and some Luthiers, including the awesome Jon Shuker can do this as part of the design Here's my beloved with my signature doodle:
 20. I also reserve the right to call it "Dood-Stock".
 21.
dood started the topic so he obviously instantly assumes leadership and full organizational responsibilities.
oh crap... lolz. If I do, I'm gonna need a bit of help from those who know the local area better - and mebbe some help from guys who have arranged the bass bashes before so I know what to expect from likely venues re: cost/cover etc.
 22. +1 for the love! What a great project and a very tastey looking Bass to boot! I really like the matching headstock and pickguard. A combo' you very rarely see! I also love how the cream pup cover matches with the maple fingerboard too - that's a really nice touch I think. 'Collars and cuffs' he he Defintely one of the nicest DIY projects I have seen on BC. Congrats and well done!
 23. I reckon black hardware will look wicked!!
 24.
.....and finished I mis-quoted Jon I've discovered - he actually said it's 'an enormous pickup'! I can report it has an enormous sound too and the most amazing versatility. The neck defies physics. I know it's not going to be to everyone's taste, but it does it for me.
That's really beautiful! - I'm gonna have to ask you all to stop posting Shuker threads though... it's not helping my new rested G.A.S... I really can't have another one.....
 25.
Another beautifull Shuker is born! congrats! Oh.. though by the way.. i have the biggest pickup...
Show 'em Tom! - I was lucky enough to visit JOn just before it was installed - and gotta say - that was a hefty piece of kit going in your bass. Custom made by EB wasn't it?
