Hi Guys!!! Sorry, have been away from BC for a day or so. Well, I can tell you the JamMan arrived this am!! It can reverse - and you can time morph (faster and slower) - so not *just* half speed. Indeed in some of the demo videos, the chap demonstrates how you can use the pedal with the CD/MP3 player input to slow down tracks without changing the pitch, in order to learn those difficult passages of music. AND it works! Nice!

Anyone want to fill in my post for me? You know what I'm gonna say!!!! :wub: I adore the Hartke 4.5XL cabs. I used to run two with an Ampeg SVT 2 Pro. I now own the LH1000 with a pair of HyDrive 410's. Brilliant bits of kit - and I am expecting the rig to show up with me on Channel 4 in coming weeks! I'll keep you posted when it's due to happen. Hey matey, Have a word with Jon - I know one of his own circuits is more power hungry than most - I understand it's a trade off for the design he has used. However, you might have a problem if it is a different preamp in there. Typically, I only need to change my batteries in my EMG circuit once a year. In fact, if they need it or not - I do what Dave 'OBBM' once suggested. He changes them on his birthday, so he doesn't forget!!

Very nice indeed. I owned a couple of cabs when Tec-Amp were known as Tech SoundSystems. Absolutely brilliant. Big and authoritative tone despite being light as a feather. Nice rig!

Dood is about the Bass Hey guys! Ha ha!! it's funny, before I scrolled down after the OP - I was just going to post that there is a band called Cilice (The singer has recently left to join the awesome Textures) - who tune their guitars that low that they don't bother with a Bass Player! Live shows still have the guts and meat and I didn't miss the bass guitar! Not exactly what you want to hear I guess. When face with some seriously low tuning I have, as above, just tuned lower! My seven string, very kindly posted in a pic by my good friend Simon, is tuned to F# below B of a 5 string. The string is a massive .175 gauge and is a total beast given the 1000W of the Hartke stack it is relaxing against. In your situation, it seems to me that as well as your guitarists tuning really low, they are EQing their guitars with too much bass as well? Now in real terms, that's not the best way forward. Especially playing live. The result will be too much bottom end and noise on stage making instruments become indistinct and harder for everyone to monitor themselves. I think some thought in to shaping the sound of each of the instruments so that they fit in the mix will help your bass fit in a lot better and be heard in the registers you need/want to be playing in. The result will actually be a tighter fatter sound making the band sound far stronger as a unit and not just a low end durge that confuses the engineer and ultimately the paying punters. Another idea for you - if you have lots of synth and low guitars - why [i]not[/i] concentrate on singing lead lines instead? Peter Hook made a career out of it!

Hmmm!! How strange! I've been using Chrome for about 6 month and am on here (dare I say it) virtually every day. I wonder if there is a plugin that is interacting with Chrome, as opposed to Chrome itself that is causing the rash? For example, flash player, shockwave, skype, adobe, ebay, JAVA or something similar? As boring as it sounds, I would suggest properly uninstalling Chrome and any apps the interact with it and reinstall them with the latest versions. Good luck!

Probably check ebay for a good deal on one of those second hand.[/quote] I had a Decimator noisegate on my ISP Beta preamp - yes, it's very good! - If you use a compressor in your rig, then I highly recommend getting a TC Electronic Nova Dynamics compressor pedal that has a noisegate on it as well. It's rather good! You could then retire your compressor and have one box with both compressor and noisegate in. ( I definitely subscribe to having as few separate boxes in the signal chain!)

I've managed to bag a cheap stereo JamMan off the bay. It was a bit of a bargain, so I thought I'd grab it whilst I can. I look forward to giving it some abuse!

It inspired him to write AOBTD - to which he then recorded the track, playing bass, rhythm guitar, lead guitar, piano and well - I guess some sort of percussion. It's a really OLD thread - I've un-sticky-ed it (WOW awesome grammar Dan) - Think most of us have changed our gear in the last 6 months, so probably rather out of date! - Yes, that's G.A.S for you!

In resistance terms, much like putting two 8 ohms speakers in parallel to each other, the resistance is halved to 4 Ohms. I'd also be a bit pedantic and say that the description 'soapbars' does defintely not mean 'parallel wiring'. There are many 'soapabar' designs that are single coil AND dual/triple coils that are serial wired. I'd also argue that just because a pickup is wired in parallel - generally, it won't be any louder or 'bigger' sounding - usually just different. A higher output is better achieved by serial wiring coils. Even before you listen to the pickups - the electronics theory will bare that out. I have to pick you up on your two last sentences too. Sorry, I don't want to pick a fight - but that's meaningless nonsense! Where [i]did[/i] you pick this up from? - I spotted your EMG P Bass pickup thread as well - and I'm afraid I don't think the EMG active pickup is the best choice. It will work - but I don't personally feel it is necessarily the best choice for a DB. Not 'having a go' or anything, but this fine fine community here will be more than happy to help bring a bit of clarity to the discussion and right some of these misconceptions!

BP[/quote] Yes they do mate! - The return jack, as you have rightly said has an extra contact on it that acts as a switch to bypass the effects loop when there is nothing attached to it. When you plug in a lead the 'switch' disconnects and allows the loop to work. I have had this very same problem with another amp and at the time I never bothered to fix it - I just left a very short patch lead plugged in to the loop instead - completely safe to do so! It's likely that the contacts have become dirty or tarnished, or slightly bent out of place, thus not doing the job properly. A person qualified to lift the lid (my disclaimer!) can sort the problem and should charge very little for the fix. In the unlikely event that the socket needs replacing - a suitable socket is only a few pounds from an outlet such as Maplin.
