1. 'Stag' owns an original Ric-o-Sound unit for his Riccie - We had a play with splitting his bass signal at our 'Mini Bass Bash' recently where we fed one output to one bass stack and the other to..well.. another obviously! It works! and a pretty cool idea too! Not this one, just a pic for description purposes
2. It reminds me of back in the 80's -ish when consumer good manufacturing company Matsui stormed in to retail outlets with their affordable goods with a far eastern name in order to compete with...errr... far eastern consumer goods manufacturing companies. Matsui were - and may even still be - a British company. IIRC they are owned by the Dixon group now.
3. I have experienced this lovely amp sitting atop Stag's SVT610 - and it sounds like a monster! - Steve is a top bloke and this head is indeed spotless. as new I think!

6. All of the members of Queen, for example, not only being musically multi-instrumental and talented all penned at least one Number One hit each and more. I feel that recognition is enough to put them in such a category!
But there's only so many times you can bend a bit of metal isn't there?
Like a spring? ;o)
All metal has a certain amount of elasticity, I suspect that it hits the floor before it exceeds that limit and goes from elasticity to stretch.
There really is very little gap between the top and bottom of the wire rack, so yes, you are spot on Ste'. But I guess a point to make is that this 'homebrew' will never go on tour with me - it's not expected to handle mass strain - just a wee bit of fun for you guys on BassChat
8. I still own the 1x10 combo version!!!! It lives in my cupboard with the original Marhsall cover and everything! My Dad got it for me with my first Bass when I was..12 - ish!
9. Check the value of the blend control - as *usually* active electronic circuits will have much lower pot values. I'm really surprised actually to see a 250K volume pot after an active circuit. EMG for example use 25K or 50K for volume and pan controls. 250K per track *may* be ok - but hard to guesstimate as I am not familiar with the Schecter circuit.
10. The individual strands of wire in a signal / instrument cable is much finer and prone to breaking down / breaking / fraying than the much thicker strands of a mains cable that is designed to carry higher currents. (Amps as opposed to milliAmps!) It also means the physical connection between the wire core and the plugs at each end ar not as strong either, thus, any movement will eventually mean a breakage, if the cable doesn't have a suitable sheathing / cable support in and around the plug. Cheaper cables are usually less well made - but it sounds like you have been unlucky and have a faulty cable to start with as I feel sure it shouldn't have failed that quickly if you were taking care of it.
11. SERIOUS BARGAIN!!!!!!!!
12.
I used to have one that had a 6mm shaft on it so you could attach it to a drill. Extremely useful for quick string changes on the fly in between songs when I was tech-ing. Bass ones are just as useful as guitar ones, but a lot harder to find.
I have one of those! I pop it on the end of an electric screw driver - because changing the strings on my 7 string Bass can be a bit boring without!!!

14.
I went to see a friends band on Saturday night. The bass player had a USA Fender Jazz and my original Ashdown rig from 2003/2005. An ABM500EVO2 and 2 x Mini 4x8 cabs. What a wicked growly punchy tone, both inside and outside the pub. Why have I been wasting my money on GAS all these years? Doh!!!
Dave, my friend - as those present at the 'Mini Bass Bash' here in sunny Norwich will attest - I am in exactly the same boat. The best sounding rig I have ever owned (and yes I bang on about it all the time) was an SVT 2 Pro and two Hartke 4.5XL cabinets. I, like many bass players hurt my back and decided to sell the lot in search for this super lightweight and great sounding gear. Boy, have I spent a great deal of money!! I mean, thousands, not just hundreds of pounds. It actually makes me feel a little sick when I look at the list of kit that has been through my front room. So how does this curved line meet it's beginning? - I took a punt and bought a Hartke Hydrive recently - Hartke's new 'lighter' solution to the 45Kg of my favourite XL cab. I had the opportunity to A/B it with BassCat's 4.5XL and I was happy to report that although sounding different, it defintely had the Hartke trademark in there. I think I may well be smitten and another 410 will no doubt join the roost soon. It is with that realisation - that I think a big Dood style sale will be on the cards soon as I find myself 'coming home' to what I really wanted all along. If only Hydrive was available when I had to sell the 4.5's!! Given the tonal nature of the LH1000 - it's likely I'll give one a go - OR to top off the SVT2 replacement, maybe the SVT 7 Pro or 8 Pro. We shall see, but I am certainly looking forward to a bright (and shiny coned) future with a tone that is all familiar to me. Right.. who wants to see the old gear list???!!!!
15. Still waiting for mine!! Hurry please! I wanna upgrade my bass!
16. I realise this doesn't quite fit in with the kind of bass you are looking for, but have you thought about 'going headless'? I think people who haven't tried a headless maybe don't realise how much additional weight is baring down on thier shoulder as it acts as a fulcrum for that big load of metal at the other end of the bass neck. (Big Fender tuning keys!!) The biggest improvement on my back whilst playing has been my Shuker Headless bass. If I'd have known I was going to enjoy the improvement that much, my 7 string would have been a headless too, for sure. Here are a whole bevvy of beautiful headless basses at Shuker's Headless Gallery: http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/hlgal.htm and from BassChat: Dood: CrazyKiwi Johngh
17. I'd like to say a big hi to all the lovely peeps over at Statii.com's forum. I think there are a few over there that used to be on BC (or you peeps have changed your log on ID's???) Come back soon!!
18. I have one too! - Awesome pedal with some really clever configuration options as well as the 'norm', that allow you to have two seperate compressors with their own settings (for two seperate instruments maybe) OR being able to run one half as a compressor before your amp and the other half as a noisegate in the amp's effects loop - I mean - how many other compressors on the market give you this sort of flexibility AND three band compression? Small, lightweight and transaprent sounding. I reckon it's my new favourite pedal!
19. "The bridged power rating is equal to the sum of the power rating for each channel at a load of twice that of the single-channel rating." For example, an amplifier 750W per channel in to a minimum load of 2 Ohms: The bridge rating is 1500W into 4 Ohms (minimum load). Be sure to check the specification of the amp to ensure it is a.) bridgeable in the first place b.) that you do not exceed the minimum rating. This can cause the amplifer to run hottter, work harder and possibly fail earlier.

What a brilliant amp - though that's wasn't a good pose there Mr Dood!! And where are my legs in the third picture??? A great evening with lots of bassy goodness!
24. Hey Ash! The extremes of each control is different on the PQ-3B Vs PQ-4 . I cant quite find the information about the low extremes of the PQ-4 at the moment - but as long as it was down to at least 50hz - then I feel that both pedals would be perfectly useable for bass guitar. Certainly the PQ-3B has a low boost right down to 25Hz which is well below the fundamentals of a 4 string 'E' - though as we have discovered in many other threads - half the time ou are not hearing the fundamental of a note as strong as the over tones anyway - so a shelving bass boost in the 100Hz region s going to sound just as far when boosted. The graphic version of the pedal isn't giving you the option to specifically tune you boost or cut frequencies - but on the flipside you *can* cut and boost more frequencies at the same time, as opposed to a 'blanket' range of frequencies with the parametric. I think all three would be perfectly adequate - though I read that some feel the parametric pedal is better sounding. Hmm, I wonder if that is because it is no longer made, rare and preserved in 'snake oil'???? Possibly! - You could say that the Para' pedal will have fewer 'filter' blocks and thus fewer phasing issues, so a purer tone.. but anyone who could tell that nearing 100dB on stage with a drummer and Mr 5150 in the corner - it doesn't matter!!!
25.
lol, a mini bass bash, with a Rick-O-Sound box? pictures to appear, errr... in a few mins lol
A Rick-o-sound Sir??? *I can go on like that for hours* - You know, one of those fine rarities that you don't see attached to Riccies these days? That's the thing legend is made of! Rumour has it frodo himself had one..well.. lived inside one and created the sound with his bare hands! Sorry, sorry - derailing the thread. I'll stop now. I was just gonna say, that as a predominantly rock / metal fan - I really like New Forms. It reminds me of sitting outside, partying with my mates in the country - good tunes, good drink, good times.
