lol, a mini bass bash, with a Rick-O-Sound box? pictures to appear, errr... in a few mins lol
A Rick-o-sound Sir??? *I can go on like that for hours* - You know, one of those fine rarities that you don't see attached to Riccies these days? That's the thing legend is made of! Rumour has it frodo himself had one..well.. lived inside one and created the sound with his bare hands! Sorry, sorry - derailing the thread. I'll stop now. I was just gonna say, that as a predominantly rock / metal fan - I really like New Forms. It reminds me of sitting outside, partying with my mates in the country - good tunes, good drink, good times.

In quietest of Norfolk??? Surely not! I feel sure that should an occasion have happened there surely would have been photographs? and.... biscuits!!! It was ace!

I remember this performance, I learned the line on my fretless.
+1 Good sir! - I too am a fan of New Forms!
Sorry to disappoint mate - but I'm never going to be a skinny dark haired glasses wearing whammy w*nking lookalikey - -
Tea>>Keyboard lol!!! Great to here parts are on the way! Indeed, I'm off to the post box in a sec myself! ) -
That's because the stereo-typical Bass Player is further up the food chain than the stereo-typical Guitarist. *lights touch paper, stands back*

I am assuming you mean electric 6 string guitar, as opposed to electric 6 string bass! he he! I guess it depends on what kind of sound you want from your guitar? I think the EBS might do a good crunch sound - which will be interesting as the drive section and EQ is voiced for bass, not guitar - but I won't expect any 'tear your face off' distortion or soaring lead tones.
I wouldn't waste money on effects while you still have the crappy practice amp. If you're still in the practising stage and not gigging, I'd definitely recommend a Roland Microcube Bass RX. It has amp modelling, compression and effects. And even a drum machine. I use one at home and at the shop. Slap will sound fantastic through it.
+1 The cube 30 is ace too!
In the Amps for sale section there's a few decent combos for @ £200 (Ashdown, Trace Elliot, ect) & there's even a Carlsbro Bass Bomber for £75 (my first amp was a Carlsbro, they're as good as what you pay for, cheap but do the job).
+1 Secondhand is definitely your friend!
Plus im pretty sure a lot of BC'ers will not be that 'into' my design!
All the more reason to post it! I'm quite happy with the fact that people might not be 'in to' a Singlecut 7 string, but for those that like designs that are a bit 'out there', it's great to share! - Oh.. and not to mention, it's actually deep in-built in to Jon's psyche - He can not build a bad bass. He'd rather ditch something he wasn't truly happy with than let it go out of his workshop door. Which to me makes it worth the wait. My point is - I think lots of people will be in to the bass design for sure!

Hey John! Fantastic, looking forward to seeing ths one take shape. If you had the choice, would you go for a Maple fretboard or Rosewood? - I've always liked that 'Hank Marvin' look. Candy Apple + Maple! -
I've recently found that the Sansamp Para driver and MXR M80 in tandem are just fantastic. I've been messing about with them a lot recently - and have found that when I turn them off and have no EQ, no nothing, it all sounds a bit flat. So on they go again!
I ave an update to my previous post. I've been playing through a different cab recently and have decided that, although I love the Sansamp and M80 combo - and I stand by what I have said - With a different cab, I am really enjoying the tone of my bass without the pedals on too. There ya go, in the space of a week my tastes have changed lol!
Your first port of call should be the Markbass website and contact Peter Murray.
I think he's the MarkBass MySpace contact too - so could try him via there too. Nice chap, very friendly!
Just bought this item http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=160422099713 To match the LG 1000, am I right in thinking this will be OK? It's my first ever rig and I know its probs not the highest quality but I needed something cheap and I reckon I've got meself a bargain as Ididn't pay £150 As the LG is split into 2x500 at 4ohms will I be able to add another 8 ohm cab at a later date? Think I read on here it pumps out 370 watts at 8ohms will the cab be ok? Sorry for the rambling I'm a little drunk and a little excited.
Yep, a cabinet rated at 350W RMS will be fine being fed with an amplifier that can drive 370W RMS into an 8 Ohms load. It may be 20W more - but, the likelyhood of being able to play the amp constantly at 350W RMS is ..well.. you won't You can add a second 8Ohm cabinet to that channel at a later date. Thus the amp will be able to deal it the full 500W from said channel. You then have the option of doing exactly the same on the *other* channel: two 8 ohm cabinets will give you a 4 Ohm load on that channel too. Thus, you'll be making use of the full 1000W RMS - and it will go in to 4 cabinets. I think that would possibly upset your guitarist - but I think it would deliver some air movement! You can of course opt for ONE 4 Ohm cabinet per channel. I don't know if the LG1000 is 'bridgeable'. I suspect not, so I won't go in to that right now!
Jaysus, almost ashamed to "show off" my rig in here... See below...
Nothing to be ashamed of, that's a rig that is held in high tonal esteem round these here parts! The MarkBass LM + Aguilar GS/DB112 combo is a sound to behold!

I mentioned this in another thread - but I recently grabbed one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Gold-Heavy-Duty-4-St...65#ht_500wt_956 - It looks like a Gotoh clone. Maybe Mighty-Mite? Dropped it straight on to my bass this morning using the same 5 holes and have gotten te set up 'almost' done. Like the Gotoh it has channels for the saddles to sit in and end barriers so the saddles can not move side to side. I am VERY pleased with it.

Anyone ever bought a prized instrument from Cash Converters?
Dood replied to Grand Wazoo's topic in Bass Guitars
The reason I ask is this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-51-Precision-...=item2c53fe3860 I love that bass, and the price is not bad but.... and this is a big BUT would you trust crack converters? on ebay? I can't help thinking that maybe that bass belong to some poor bloke who had it stolen and now some crack head sold it to cash converters without them doing any checks with the police if the bass is genuine. Also what if it's a fake? The auction is minutes now from the end, but much as I am tempted, my better judgment tells me to refrain from bidding and see if I can get one from a more "secure" source at a later date. What do you think, have any of you bought a quality bass from them and were satisfied with the quality and genuinity of it?
Only just spotted this thread, so too late anyway - but I wondered - being a 51 reissue - the winning bid was a bit on the high side, considering when everyone was getting hold of non-export CIJ's from Ishibashi brand new, the average price was about £450. Certainly my 70's non-export fits the same catagory. -
Hi, I am considering changing to Ampeg SVT and 6 or 8x10 SVT cab. I currently run all eden gear and wonder if some kind fellow bass chatter would like to put the 2 rigs together so we can ab them to see whast sort of differences it can make. I have a load of eden gear and a big room to try it all out in as I dont want to buy and then find out I have it all wrong (again) The eden stuff is great dont get me wrong but its missing something for me personally a bit of nastiness?? or I would gladly stick some stuff in the car and travel. I may be up for a swap as well If 2x10xlt 2x10xst 4x10xlt 2x15xlt 2x10 metro WT550 Rob
I spotted a 6x10 on ebay the other day - but as I wasn't looking for one - I can't remember where it is located.

I too am enjoying a fingers Vs Pick ratio swap! I've been mainly a fingers player for the last - only knows how long - But I am really enjoying using a pick with my 6er. I'll give a big +1 to the Paul Gilbert videos. I also like using the John Petrucci vids for pick exercises too. - I don't just mean for shred either. It takes skill to play fast and accurate, but it takes restraint and control to play in the pocket.
