1. look up 'Catalinbread SFT' on the good ole YouTube - i think it's lightest settings are exactly what you are looking for - it also does 'brutal' as well. Failing that - I have an MXR M80 and that does a light grunge too - or full on distortion. The video clip doesn't sound like any outboard distortion as such - just Duff's GK's cranked hard. I am sure I have seen somewhere online Duff's amp settings and remember the dials been set to 'stun' as it were
2.
And long may it continue mate I now have a splendid cab because of this list Just a petty you never had the Powersoft at the same time Most inconsiderate , I'd say . How's the new gear panning out ? Drop us a line .
Heh heh! Hi matey! - I know, that amp *did* stay a long while in my gear though! - To be honest I'm not sure what is fuelling my constant gear GASsing. I think it's this place!!! - Maybe it's just my inner yearning to play with new toys all the time!! ha ha! Yup, I'll drop you a line v soon - as for the Hartke - the only thing it's running with at the moment is fresh air, as I haven't got an amp to play with - it's inside the ISP 'active' cab! ha ha!! - I reckon if an LH1000 comes up, that will be a good pairing!
3.
so WHY did you sell yours? I bought mine partly because of what you'd said about it.
Because I don't know how to stop this G.A.S affliction that makes me sell stuff ridiculously! Let's take a look at the evidence: 1x Ampeg SVT 2 Pro 2x Hartke cabs 2 x Ampeg SVPs 1x Ampeg BSP 2x Tech Soundsystem cabinets 1x Powersoft power amplifier 2x Tobias basses 1x Epifani UL 610 1x F1 1x TC GForce 1x BDDI 1x M80 (yeah I bought another) 1 x Multicomp (yup - bought the new version) 1x Warwick Quadruplet 1x Status Fretless 6 and there's plenty more I am ashamed to say! The F1 was defintely a favourite and should have been a keeper - it's so small, it wouldn't have gotten in the way if it stayed as a back up!
4.
Excellent - I *may* be trying a 410 very soon.
Excellent, I now own a Hartke HX410. Very happy!
5.
Can the F1 produce classic old-school rock tones? real deep fat bass
Yes, it can do deep, dub, middley old skool tones and motown with those lovely controls, as well as ultra flat & hifi - but don't expect it to do 'dirty' - as it is a very clean amp. That said - drop an M80 pedal or similar in front of it and it will rattle ya jaw bone
6. I thought I had a schematic for that model - but I can't find it - though I suspect there will be one online somewhere - if you can find one - we can take a look at possibilities.
7. Excellent - I *may* be trying a 410 very soon.
8. Two minutes! Is that a new record????
9. How did you get on? Did you try the Hydrive 15? Reviews seem to be a bit on the rare side on t'interweb to be honest. I wanted to know more about the Hydrive 4x10 and 8x10 - but there's not really any 'real world' teviews that I have seen yet.
10.
Since a lot of the Markbass heads are all 500W, how loud is the F1 in comparison? Is it a 'loud' 500W?
It's a loud amp alright! My two guitarist took the p*ss out of me for hours when they first saw it. Funnily, they did pipe down when they heard it.
11. Matt, I guess it depends on what exactly you are being 'signed' in to and what you get for your endorsement. After all an endorsement is You saying You use their gear first and foremost, not vice versa. I know that a lot of companies prefer to deal with endorsements outside signing pieces of paper and legal stuff - as it makes life easier for both parties. - Also - you don't have to be in 'an endorsement' to get 'cheap sh*t'! I feel that if you are after a signed endorsement for cheap gear - then find the company you REALLY want to support offers you a 'deal' - you might possibly be stuck signed into something you don't *really* want to be in? Get someone to look over the details for you who has no interest in bass or bass gear - as they will see things a lot clearer for you.
12. Oh! I feel for ya! - I also hate it when you spend ages deciding on a particular item, only to find that when it arrives it is the wrong size / doesnt fit / not suitable for the task - yet all the reviews said it would be! I know it's slightly off topic - but I'm actually yet to see a Pedal Board that I like the look of for my few pedals. I spent a few hours today hatching a plan.. it may even make a build diary! - unless, by a strange turn of lucjk I see exactly what I have in mind out there already!
13. Including all the above advice - do you have the serial number of your Bass too - because it might be worth keeping an eye on ebay in the future if it 'doesnt show up'.
14. I think the MarkBass 4x10's have a particular sound to them - so it maybe a difference in tone tat will sway you more over. However, I think a couple of GS112's with the right amp will sound monsterous. Looking at the spec though - with the MB having the higher sensitivity - it will sound louder than the 2 GS112's
15. ok! Thank you for all your messages! The hardware will be shared amongst: 1x Bridge Clauster 4x Tuning keys - AndyToad 1x string tree 13 screws! 2 x Chrome knobs £2 -BumNote Thank you all for being in touch. 17. It's one of those Bass pieces that i used to hear everytime I went in to a guitar shop, along with REALLY bad renditions of Mr Big's 'Addicted To That Rush' and slap bass which sounded like someone building a shed with a drum kit. I can appreciate any piece even if it is for show boating, if it is done well. But will certainly grate on me if I hear it too often done badly! (Maybe that's why I hate all my own bass lines ha ha ha ha ha ha)
18. PM's replied to. Tuning keys still available and possibly Bridge.

20.
So which do you select - instrument or line? Thanks, Mark
My active cab is a bit different to a normal system - I can either switch to 'instrument' and turn up the gain control on the cabinet's amplifier OR switch to 'line' level and turn the gain down on my amplifier to gt the same amount of volume. I'm running an XLR from the pedal to the cab, so no real noise issues there - however, preference would have me running at line level as I prefer a much stronger signal being sent down the cable. It improves the Signal to Noise Ratio too. What power amp are you using Mark?
21.
The two 1/4" outputs on the VXL are: "LINE OUTPUT - 1/4 inch jack carrying the line-level output signal, either affected or un-affected, depending on the Pre/Post switch." ...and... "PARALLEL OUTPUT - Standard 1/4 inch output jack for sending the original signal to the on-stage amplifier" Are they both the same signal level? Will either be ok to go straight into a power amp? Thanks, Mark
Looking at the decription above 'Line Level' is a description usually used to describe a signal strong enough to drive power amplifiers and also rack effects (that don't specifically have an instrument level input). Thus it would be my choice to use that over the other output. HOWEVER - there is an element of 'suck it and see' - because your power amp's input sensitivity may such that an instrument level signal could drive it to full output. Any of the pedals mentioned *could* boost your signal if you are not getting enough out put - though the two pedals may be designed such that they could prefer to be ran at instrument level as a booster for solos etc. I've not used either myself and haven't checked over the spec.
22. I've recently found that the Sansamp Para driver and MXR M80 in tandem are just fantastic. I've been messing about with them a lot recently - and have found that when I turn them off and have no EQ, no nothing, it all sounds a bit flat. So on they go again!
23. Ah yes!!! I used to use the BS66 strings way back when they came in the pink packet with Billy on the front mid 'hair spray hell' with that sweet BB3000 Yamaha in hand. The heavier E string was great for drop tuning too. I think if I played 4 strings, I'd still go for those gauges. Infact, on my 6er I prefer a lighter C and heavier B string - sooo.. kinda the same!
24. Charla, you need to add a price to your advert as per the updated sales guidelines, cheers. Either way, the TD650 is a great amp and I can't see it hanging around for long when you do firm up your sale. Dood.
