1.
Got some PA stuff to sell in the ongoing breakup of our big PA, including: Gator 2U (pretty sure it's a GR-2L) rack case - used to house a PV2600 amp and not really used all that much. In great condition, these are about £75 from GAK. £48 shipped? Wharfedale Pro LX15 (x2) and LX15B (x2). These are 4 ohm and I think rated to 800w each - I can check and confirm this. All four speakers come with vinyl covers and have never been left uncovered. In great condition, these are about 500 quid new for a pair - we would like £300 for each pair and might be able to do a deal on all four. These might have to be collected as they're heavy. We're looking for a modernish powered sub, around 800w and preferably a 15" driver and also a Kam Par Bar LED lighting thingy. If you've got either of those and want to talk, let me know. Ta
John, if you can find one - I highly recommend the EV sba760 - it is an absolute beast of a sub, despite it's diminuitive size. I'm sure there are better horn subs etc out there, but if space is a premium - it will easily embarass an equivalent power Mackie sub ;o)
  2. Thanks!!! Useful advice there. Cheers ;o)
I vote JimGavin the most popular new member
and most certainly be awarded for 'services to basskind'. Nice one Jim!
  4. I'm just intrigued to hear if anyone has done - I'm expecting there to be a low end roll off, but that's not gonna be a problem as I can just mix all the bottom in in my rig - Yup, i thought it might be an interesting addition to my rig, given the MIDI implementation. Thing is - now that they are getting rare, the prices are crawling up! Anyway, would be interested to hear what you guys have tried. Speak to ya later! Dood.

If only this advert happened a cuppla months ago!! lol ... wow - just, wow. I think this really is bargain of the century - that 6x10 ... it's almost unbearable to see it for sale at that price.. Tech/Tec really are very good!
  6.
Epifani ul610
Yes, indeed a very nice cabinet!
  7. The more I use it, the more I love this cabinet! It's a beast! I've panged and messed around with all sorts of cabinets for years - but I think this one is finally fullfilling what makes a great bass cabinet. Well designed - practically bomb proof and fills the room with oodles of rich bass. I also love the fact that it is active. I have the 1KW version - and having just one smallish, powerful box and my rack with effects in is certainly a god send. The whole lot goes in the boot of my motor!

TecAmp = Brilliant. I am still a very big fan of the now discontinued Tech SoundSytems gear. (Thomas Eich's previous company name)
  9.
How would I go about bi-amping the X3? Can I send one of its outputs into the effects loop of a combo so I have a "powered monitor" on stage with me?
Yes you can. Not so much 'bi-amping' as that's something different - but the X3, like the XT have dedicated outputs that can be configured for your application. There are a set of XLR sockets for your DI to PA and a pair of 1/4" sockets for plugging straight into your amp. In the Output menu, you can choose how you have connected the amp in question. Either to the front input, or to a power amp directly. In the case of connecting to the effects of a combo, I would select the 'connect to power amp' configuration - as the effects loop is bypassing any preamp section on the combo (in *most* cases but not all).
  10. I love Marshall! ;o) - As a teen ma mom took me to Marshall products demos etc in the region - and then surprised me one year by arranging a factory tour for me and a mate. Being an electronics geek and fanatical bass player.. this was a pretty much an unforgetable experience! I stayed in touch with one of the guys at Marshall for a while as I started customising some Marshall gear for my Bass rig at the time. ( I think I still have some of the preamp bits I messed with somewhere!!). I met Jim at one of the very first demos I attended. He was such a kind chap and was generally interested in my inane electronics babbling and ideas I wanted to share! - That's quite an achievement for anyone!! ha!! I, like no doubt countless others, felt a bit spesh, when I got to hold 'Marshall No.1' in the demo room... Yeah, i didnt care what it would have sounded like - but it was a piece of history in the making! I still own a Marshall Bass 12 and my main 'head' for a number of years was an Integrated Bass System 200W rack.
  11. My only question for all those out there, is what is it like, on its own, for live use? >> As with any Line6 unit - when set up properly, It's really good. The X3 is a great improvement in sounds and flexibility over the XT and previous models. There's far too much to describe - so I'd suggest downloading the user manual and have a look at exactly what the system can do. Will I need a power amp to give it a bit more of a signal boost before it reaches the PA? >> No, you'd use a power amp to 'power' a speaker cabinet should you want some backline too - which could even be as little as a wedge monitor, should you so wish Or should a good PA give me a loud enough signal? >> Hmmm!!!! This is wher ethe fun comes.. Yes - in a perfect world, you will play a venue with a nice big PA with sets of subs and monitors that as a system is completely capable of supplying you with lush bass reinforcement. ..Well, in reality, down at the 'Dog and Camel', the PA monitors can only handle vocals and the 'front of house' is the speakers the DJ uses on a friday night and are shot to pieces. I only really ever need an amp as a monitor for myself on stage, and I'm not picky about my tone as long as it's relatively smooth, so it seems ideal that I can just D.I. everything to a desk and route it out of the stage monitors. >> Sounds like a plan! - Maybe see if you can pick up one of those 'kick back' style bass combos that you could use as a monitor for yourself? GK, Hartke, Ampeg all do them 'of sorts'. Or even buy a really good PA wedge monitor? Then send your POD signal straight to the PA for them to sort out. It can work really well - but I'd defintely get used to setting the unit up for the configuration you are using, as the X3 (and XT) and different modes to work in. Thinking ahead further - if you are pretty much wanting to set up and leave - and you dont use effects and the like, how about a Sansamp BDDI, Hartke Attack pedal or similar?
  12.
Hello everyone...My name is Gary Bennett, but I am predominantly known as "BISCUIT" and I am a Bass guitarist using 4/5/and six string Spector basses which I run through a Hartke rig. I have many years of experience with live bands and recording studio's with various bands, playing many different genres of music. I am looking for paid work only in an Original or covers band in which the style of music is not important,as long as the band is working. I am also working on my own project at the moment and would like to hear from Vocalist's and lead guitarist's. This would not affect my commitment to another band though as I work as a full time musician. Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] if you are looking for a bass player to cover all your needs.....Many thanks. P.S..... You can find out more about me at www.myspace.com/biscuitandbass4
Gawd blimey guvnor!!! Thought you'd never get here! - Nice pics and stuff on the Hartke site mate! I even managed to get my ugly ole mug in there too! ;O) Good to see ya here! Dood.
Not bought from America, I need it quicker than that, so taken the hit on the extra money it'll cost Still comes through a courier though apparently. While I'm remembering though, I just need a USB to MIDI cable to update the M9 using Monkey, right? Any standard USB to MIDI cable will work fine, I'm assuming?
I've just bought a MIDI to USB cable from amazon for - I think it was 10.99 for updating my TC G Major 2 - it works just fine - no drivers required. [edit] this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cable-Adaptor-Musi...2716&sr=8-2 ;o) Hope that helps matey!

  15.
Hey, I've just bought an Ampeg SVT 2 Pro which has a graphic EQ that can be used as a second channel. This can be done by using a stereo jack plugged into the footswitch socket at the back. Here is what ampeg say: Footswitch: This is a stereo jack which will operate with a standard dual footswitch. The tip of the plug controls the mute operation, the ring controls the graphic eq operation, while the sleeve acts as a common ground to both. With the footswitch inserted, both the front panel and the footswitch mute switches are active. However I have a single latching footwitch in the form of this Axess Electronics Amp Controller. Is it possible to use a single latching footwitch to only activate the graphic EQ and not the mute function? (I'm guessing not, because putting a jack in automatically turns the mute on) Or to take two single footwitches (i.e two outputs from the Amp controller) and use this Stereo to two Mono Jack, so that they control one of the functions each? Having to run a dual footswitch to the front of stage would be extremely annoying, as I have all my pedals, wireless etc in a rack. All I have at the front of the stage at the moment is this Midi Footwitch that controls the Amp controller. Any help would me much appreciated, Thanks, Ed
Ed - I've done similar in the past - take a patch lead from the controller and push it in to the footswitch socket in the Ampeg HALF WAY. When you push the socket in usually it will 'click' 3 times. IE , each time the tip passes a contact in the socket. But if you push it in, so it only clicks TWICE the tip of the plug will be in contact with the 'ring' connection of the socket. This contact is the one that controls the graphic. The ground connection will still be touching the correct terminal. It might take a couple of goes to get the plug to click in to the correct position, but in the rack, when it is in place, it should move if knocked. failing that, yes, you will need a stereo to dual mono lead and select the mono connector you require. I'm using a TC Electronic GForce 2 to change channels on my MXR M80 pedal - however I had to do some very minor customisations to the pedal switching. (Which can be undone and doesnt affect the pedal at all).
  16.
I have a KappaLite 3015LF and four Deltalite II 2510 which I currently have installed in some Ashdown ABM cabs, but I'm thinking of selling my Ashdown rig and might keep the speakers. I was browsing the net for suitable DIY enclosures for my speakers and found Bill Fitzmaurice's designs - then noticed a lot of folk rave about them on bass forums, including here! My main question is, what would people recommend for rehousing my speakers? I was thinking a pair of Omni 10s for the four Deltalites. What would be good for the 3015LF?
Bill himself posts here frequently, however, I'm thinking that asking the same question on his own forum may get you a faster answer. I *think* the Omni 15 or tall boy version takes the 3015LF - but couldn't be 100% sure, without taking a look at the models on Bill's website. If you are looking for something a little different for the 3015LF and fancy a self build - then look out for GreenBoy's FearFul 15-6 advertised on TalkBass. Or maybe, have a chat with Alex Claber her who manufacturers his own BareFaced Bass cabinets, that also features the 3015 range of speakers.

  18.
the light wasn't too good, but here's some more pics. I was trying to show the contouring and the thumbchumb profile with these. He had to put it somewhere
I HAVE to quote with all the pictures left in ;o) Absolutely brilliant! I can't wait to see it in action! Well balanced, contempary design, ergonomic and aesthetically pleasing for sure! Your ideas were great - and Jon has pulled them together into a fantastic piece of kit! Congratulations!
  19. I think you'll find any speed adjustable cordless drill will do the job nicely. - I've used an electric screwdriver before with similar results but it didnt quite spin as quick as I would like. I think the part that is more important is getting hold of the customised bit end with the pics on it. I made my own out of a 'PCB standoff' - the type that has a screw in end and a large gibson plectrum - you know, the almost equilateral triangle shaped ones. You have to be a bit clever with the playing angle - but it does work. However, I got bored of using the drill and just played the bass part with my fingers...fast ;o)

  22. Adam - buy the StudioMaster 1200D for sale at the moment - Thats a bargain I reckon!
  23. yeah yeah.. leave the standard at 4 strings.. I've never been one to follow the rest of the crowd, so 'non standard' for me is just fine! lol
  24.
Sorry to differ but the Trace is the same as the Alembic F1X and BBE BMAX-T. F2B is different design.
Ah!! Thanks Dave!! I got the two mixed up didnt i!
  25. I was really impressed with the Rebel. I loved the way that it was so easy to program - then you could forget about it.. Touch a button and the settings instantly come back. Very handy if you left your amp and somebody twiddled the knobs whilst you weren't looking / getting a pint. Tonally, the parametric EQ was another joy. Again, so simple and made sense. Nice bit of kit that!
