1. - This cabinet would be an awesome pairing with a certain Epifani UL902C for sale on this very forum!
 2.
I found pics of my old Alembic pre amp , really regret selling it ! Anyway I was wondering if there is anyone in basschat land that could build me a copy..... with maybe an effects loop for my noisey old chorus pedal cheers
If you have no luck there, then I would recommend keeping an eye out for a Trace Elliot V-Type preamp. I would go as far as saying it's an improvement on said design. Infact, why-o-why did I sell my V-Type in the end???!!! Hmmm!!!
 3. You can take a DI feed from the SEND connection to a DI box. This will give you a POST EQ signal that is affected by all the tone, drive and gain controls but not the master volume. You'll have to check if the signal you get at the DI output is strong enough. Alternatively, you can plug your bass durectly into the DI then come out of the Parallel link into the amp. This will mean only your bass sound and not the amp will go to the desk. - One final trick, you can also use the tuner output to drive a DI box. Again, this is the same as plugging directly into the DI box and the amp will not effect the tone. IF you use effects in your effects loop, add the DI box as the last item in the chain so that the desk will pick up your effect sounds too.. for example... BASS>Amp IN Send out> Compressor-Chorus-EQ-DI input then DI Parallel link output> Return in etc etc. The normal balanced DI XLR connector goes to the desk.
 4.
wow you dont see many of these... i bet it sounds massive
Yeah, I'm impressed with it's output, tone and...well..it's light as a feather!! 37Kg is lighter than most 4x10 cabs! and yes, it sounds maHOOsive!
It looks massive!
Fits in the back of my motor really easily! I think it makes up for that by being deeper. It's about 18" deep which I feel sure is what helps get the extended bottom out.
What's cooking?
I'm actually not sure yet! But when I find out, I'll let you know for sure! ;o)
What are you doing! I'd JUST decided I wanted a compact rig I could carry in one go, and you go and wave this under my nose. How damn rude
Sorry! lol!!! - I only meant to sell the GS112 first.. then I got to thinking....
Oh dear. I hope it wasn't something I said!
Infact my friend, you did *help* - I went back and had a good think about what I want now, as opposed to what I needed back then! Hmmm! I feel this is going to be another fun DOOD journey!! ;o)
...is this sale possibly related to that email you sent me DJV? You can come and try mine out first if you want!
Steve, it wouldn't hurt to test the theory!! Book me in, the next time you take the beast somewhere so we can crank it up! lol - But yeah, is related to my other discussions with you! I think the price is firm and I can't see the need to drop it, unless someone makes me a very fast offer within reason. PM ME! ;o)
 5. Since we've got a bit of down time at the moment, writing and recording, I have an opportunity to rethink my back line - my tastes are changing and so is my tone. I'll get some pictures together soon, but in the meantime here's the spec' from the Epifani website. http://www.epifani.com/products/concert610.php
UL-610 When you need to move air you have to have speakers -and the more the better! The UL-610 was a custom design made exclusively for bass legends Daryl Jones (Rolling Stones) and Christian McBride but we were so impressed with the results that the UL-610 has now become part of our standard production line. This monster is equipped with six 250 watt Epifani 10" drivers that handle an astonishing 1500 watts (RMS) of power. Utilizing two separate isolation chambers, the UL-610 delivers unsurpassed clarity and accuracy even at high decibel levels. •Speaker: 6 x 250w RMS Cast Aluminum Frame •100w RMS Tweeter •Freq Response: 40hz - 16khz •Power Rating: 1500w RMS (3750w Peak) •4 Ohms •Suggested Wattage: 400w - 2000w •Sensitivity: 104db SPL @ 1w 1m •Recessed Handles •Dimensions: 42" H x 23" W x 18.25" D •82 lbs.
I reckon it's actually 5.33 Ohms, being a 6x cab - but 4 Ohms is pretty close enough!! SOLD - It's only 37Kg - so courier COULD be an option, but I would suggest collection or meeting 'halfway' for fuel, within reason. It is practically brand new condition, save for the smallest of mark on the grill and scratches to the lower plastic corners, that obviously can be replaced if you really want to do that, for pennies! The Bass Gallery Price list for these little beauties here:- £1435 http://www.thebassgallery.com/epifani.html - So grab yourself a bargain!
 6.
I suppose that could be mildly described as extravagant. best to just stay with the F1 and one 610, unless you really want to splash out of course.
Well, I might even think about changing the UL-610.. but the F1 stays!
 7.
How well did the 6x12 like your really low strings?
The room I tested in wasn't really that great.. it managed to show off the punch of the 10's but the 12's lacked what I'd hoped for in depth of bottom end.. similarly, in a different room, I found the Aguilar GS412 to actually show off less bass than the GS212 cabs. I'd love to have another go with all of them in a different environment, but both rooms weren't too dissimal from some of the dismall venues I have had the misfortune of playing in, in the past!
 8.
That as may be but the result would be wicked
Wouldn't it just! - So I'd have to buy a 902 AND a 610? GULP!
 9. Hi All! Sorry for the late reply.. yes, I am a BIG fan of the Tech Sound System gear. I have been lucky enough to try most of the range, including the 6x12, 4x10, 4x12 etc. I chose two ND410's for my rig as I was running a stereo set up and wanted a big punchy sound and to make use of the 1KW RMS per channel available from my power amp. Had I have decided to go for a mono set up (for example what I am using now) then the 6x12 could have gone home with me that day instead. Over all though, on the day, the 2 4x10's had a bit more punch through than the 4x12. I mean, like , the kick drum 100Hz type thump which sounded great with my Shuker I had at the time. I must admit, I am now panging for something similar again.. but its probably just GAS... Though watch this space, as there is a company I wanna have a chat with lol...
 10.
The answer to that is very simple. Another UL-610, one for each output of the 902.
Dave, my friend... you are a bad man!!!! he he he he!!!!
 11.
You know Dood ended up buying another cos he missed it so much? Cracking pedals these btw
m lol... indeed he did! ;o) It's just a great 'swiss army knife' to have in the box. Great DI and the EQ is well centred too. The only thing I think it lacks is a boost to line level switch for driving say, a power amp directly.
 12.
Don't need 1000W, I've got a UL902C, 1.8Kw.
My agonising is that with the UL-610 I'd never be able to make use of said 1.8KW on the 902!
 13. A slow news day again in the NME.. Did I miss something? Slap isn't some kind of Holy Grail is it?????!!!! Playing techniques are just like knives, forks and spoons... just another way to eat your food.. you can even 'pick' at it.. or use fingers lol!
 14.
When I saw them live just before the last album came out I think he was using an ampeg rig and he was indeed using his utterly lush McIntyre's and his Sei. I remember his live sound being like a huge uncomprimising frieght train hitting you at 150mph. It was an astonishingly loud gig to be fair but the impressive thing was that even though James plays in some fairly severe drop tunings on the newest album you could hear all the notes crystal clear but does make a lot more sense now Dood mentioned the Carl Martin pedal and the pickups in his basses. I suppose it all comes down to you get what you pay for. You want definition you've got it but it can be really expensive!
When it comes to live tone, Sikth had a GREAT live engineer and they worked hard on making sure the individual instrument tones worked to their best together.
 15.
HI Michael Drop me a PM and I'll let you have a lend of my Shuttle to A/B it all. Cheers Nick
See, this is why I love BassChat. Where else can you get this kind of generosity? Nice one Nick!
 16. Ahhh hulloo ;o) Kris, is there a song / album you are refering to in particular? James used various gear for recording - including his two McIntyre basses with EMG DC pickups - He has sold one already. (http://www.mcintyreguitars.com) a 5 string Sei bass that I believe had Bartolini pups in. He has used various amp rigs. Including David Eden heads and cabs, but also an Ampeg SVT 4 Pro.. may have had a 5 for a bit too?? but I understand the 4 was somewhat problematic. Live I know that James plugged in to a BDDI and also had a Carl Martin compressor pedal. He ended up with two Peavey 4x10 cabs, that, the last time I spoke to him (and this was about 2 months about SikTh split) he was really talking the cabs up. Incidently, he originally had Bartolini 9J pups in his Chris McIntyre bass(es) - Pin tells me they sounded really good recorded, but the DC's were a lot better for live sound. - I actually agree, as I tend to pull back the EQ in certain frequencies when I record DC's to make them sound a bit sweeter. As far as I can recall, I don't think he had a preference for strings. Hopefully what I recall is acurate, but if there's something in particular you want to know, I can find out for you. - I'm not a James Leach idoliser by the way, Pin and I are in an awesome band together!
 17. A multiband compressor model would be just great... They could do the TC Electronic C300 and make the X3 perfect ;o)
 18. Ahhh Thanks Gareth ;o) I appreciate the post.. Well, the reason why the small cab goes over the large one, is that I will be needing enough oomph to contend with Pin ex-Sikth, Jamie Hunt ex-Biomechanical and Thomas Lang on drums ... I'm getting the feeling that I may need a bit MORE volume lol!!! We're gonna tour when the album is written and ready, so I'll be relying on something that can produce the goods for backline absolutely anywhere. Yes, it'd be great to run a couple of GS112's.. Infact, I have a soft spot for two GS212's that I tried a long time ago... I loved them!!
 19. Sunday bumpage. Grab a bargain ;o)
 20. Hi everyone, I still have this MIDI controller available for sale. I let the advert drift - so feel free to drop me a line if you are interested. I am sorted for an M80 already.
 21.
The graphic EQ seems more suited to general purpose PA use than a dedicated bass amp. The 16kHz slider isn't going to do a lot, and 63Hz is a bit high for good control of the real lows. I'd have put a 32Hz band on the bottom and made 8kHz the highest band. Other than that, it looks pretty promising. A
Unless the 63Hz and 16Khz is a shelving slider? I guess that would be good for the 63Hz, but yes, I agree the 16Khz slider isn't going to see much action, other than hiss relief I think.
 22.
It does look great but its still only made for 115v isnt it, so thats the main problem there. but for 300 euro and a graphic eq it looks great.
It appears to be an auto adjusting universal power supply
- AC Voltage Input: 100-250V 50-60 Hz
23. Yes, I spotted this lil fella.. The one thing I REALLY like is that you can switch the tube out of the circuit completely.. That's a really nice touch. Great spec too.
 24. Interestingly, having been more of a fingers player for the last few years, in the last couple of weeks or so I have picked up the ole lump of plastic again. My new 6 string seems to lend itself to smoother faster pick lines than maybe I have played before.. I rather like it too!
