Hey everyone! Well, you all know what these are! Aguilar GS112 Between myself and Smash, who bought this cab new, I can confirm that it has never been used in anger or gigged. It has only left the house a handful of times as I bought it to use for writing sessions when I travel away. But to be honest it has sat in my cupboard doing nothing. - I'm having an Anti-GAS moment and witlessley selling it on the spur of the moment. I *may* change my mind if I run it up tonight and love it still too much.. but.. if it goes, it goes! lol. If you really want pictures I can send them.. but it really doesnt look any different from ^^^^^^^^^ that one ;o)! Lemme go see what the going rate for one of these is and I will post back in a bit.
GS 112 The portable GS 112 combines full lows, “growly”mids, and a smooth top end with an impressive amount of volume to make one of the most popular cabinets on the market. When the GS 112 was released it not only won awards and magazine product “shootouts” but it changed the way bass players think of 12” speakers. Fatter sounding than 10” speakers and quicker responding than 15” speakers, this cabinet has found a home in all styles of music. Specs One 12" cast frame woofer, 56 oz. magnet Power handling: 300 watts Impedance: 8 ohms Phenolic tweeter with integral phase plug Custom crossover with variable tweeter control One Neutrik Speakon and two 1/4" inputs Frequency response: 42 Hz to 16 kHz Sensitivity: 95 DB 1W 1M Heavy-duty spring loaded handle Interlocking corners Dimensions: 14"H x 19"W x 18"D 7-ply, void free Philippine mahogany Weight: 42 lbs.
I've got an Aguilar GS112 sat in my cupboard all safe... so safe infact it hasn't been used for months! Between myself and the previous owner, it has never been gigged and never left the house other than to go to my mates for a 'writing session'. I am wondering IF I should sell it or hang on to it as it is a great little cab for 'writing sessions' - but to be honest, I could alwys borrow an amp at my band member's house instead of lugging another cab with me. Hmmm.. food for thought. It's like 'Anti-GAS'!!! I might pop it up for sale as I know they are sought after.

Always been a plan of mine to try a Low B4 at some point. I think that could be quite exciting!

I have the X3 Live and am really in to it. There are just so many options, especially with the dual signal paths. - As with most Pod gear, expect to forget about the default patches and spend lots of time tweaking with the manual. But, if you give it time, the results are great.
Yup. Markbass have dropped the high control on the F 500 to 4.5 Khz. Was 10 Khz on the F 1.
Oh really? It was the 10K control I like.. I think the EBS 650 has the same and I feel that is why they have such a pristine airey sounding top end. Hmmm... I'd have to hear the F500 to see if it were worth it,
I'm a long time F1 user and will have an F500 next week. I'll post up. Besides the semi parametric mids, they've added a mute control (unfortunately a push pull on the master volume), a redesigned dual band power amp safetly limiter that supposedly is a bit more open when pushed, and a full featured DI with Level control and pre/post switch (nice).
Ah, they did the limiter on the F500 as well? I didn't know that. I saw the LM3 models were getting the update.. Didn't think about the F500 as well. I have brickwalled the limiter on my F1 at gigs before, where the amplifier just wouldn't get any louder.. but the coolest thing was that the amp didn't distort once! Would be good to hear how the F500 handles the duties, but I was satisfied that the F1 limiter was looking after my hardware!

IIRC, the design on which these are based are nice, simplistic and very pleasing to the ear, but a drop in bass response will be noticed. Even more so if you play a 5er.

I was just looking at the zoomed pictures of the 2800 on Thomann. A nice feature I havent seen on other power amps. They have included a gain switch to match it closer to the mixer/preamp you are plugging in to it.

Some more rampage here, http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...st&p=507898

Id like to hear also. The parametric looks quite useful! I think I'm going to hang on the the F1 though. It really is awesome. Amps I would love to try, of the same ilk, the Ibanez Promethian and the GK MB2. They look pretty great. I'd love to go 'matching' with my cab and drop an Epifani PS1000 on top. They look like great amps!

Yep, Stag just got a new cover from them too and they were really quick off the mark. Alas, I have had no reply to any of my emails. Maybe just busy.
Tell me more.
I owned a '99 SVT 2 Pro with the usual valve upgrades (that I know you are familair with!!!! How is that SVP?!) and ran it in two my two ND410s (one of which is back on sale on this very forum.. Yes, I'd love to buy it back.. maybe sell my GS112, I dunno yet) - anyway, I digress.. the SVT is switchable down to 2 Ohms and sounded absolutely stonking with the two cabs! Very fat, very full.. but laughably, I think the SVT was heavier than the cabs!! 300W is certainly more than enough to get them breathing - well.. it works for a normal Ampeg 8x10 - so what with the Techs being more sensitive and - well just fantastic in tone, the SVT really gets to blossom. I preferred the tone of the Techs to the Ampeg 8x10 for what I am after, sound wise. I think the Techs showed what the Ampeg was actually capable of - and I have to say it's not as bad as some people wil have you believe, in comparison to other valve heads! Just neds a bit of TLC!
Here's mine Kiwis is exactly the same but black and rebranded by someone else, mine only says 'D800'. Kiwi's was advertised as a 'Technical Pro DA-B3000' Search for Technical Pro on eBay at the moment and there are some powersoft lookalikes but haven't tried one of those.... Cheers ped
I've read on some PA forums that the 'powersoft lookalikes' have a higher rate of failure due to cheap components and sub standard forced air cooling. Ie.. the fans a woefully inadequate for the power of the amplifier. I guess the price would dictate that ultimately.

If only it were a UL-610!! You wouldn't believe how difficult it has been to get one recently!! Epifani's own ones are so flippin expensive! - So I found a thread on BC about company 'A' - but they ended up mucking there customers around.. and weren't very helpful to me either.. so I emailed company 'B' a couple of days ago.. and they don't seem to be wanting to reply either. (I emailed as I had to send in the dimensions of the cab as suggested on their site). So I'm on the look out for another company. If it takes any longer I would have sold the cab and moved on to my next GAS attack!!!!

Enough with the 'digital' already! Guh!!!
Nice indeed, but I'm hankering after some live video with sound instead of a slideshow Any chance you could record a sneaky little video of you playing along to some Within The Void stuff on your new Baby Doodle?
ok, I edited the thread title to 'slideshow' lol.. When I pull my finger out I'll record some new 'At home with the Dood' videos, complete with the Doodles.
