I believe T.Amp is Thomann's own 'brand'. The gear gets good reviews and sometimes get lumped in the same pigeon hole as Behringer and Phonic. Though I have nothing to substantiate those views myself. The large diaphragm studio microphones by T.Amp are very good though!
I think a few people here have tried that cab, and again - good reports.
Big thumbs up here too! - Oh.. and I realise this is going even further away from what you are looking for, but the 6x12 by Tech is nothing short of incredible!
-
Ahhh!! Very Nice!!! I really like the Hellborg gear and was impressed at the sounds coming out of the cabs! I've had the pleasure of getting a personal gear demo from Jonas .. Who better to show you round the abilities of this gear than the man himself. I think we may have gotten in trouble for cranking it up some ;o)
Surely those are designed for sound reinforcement applications, and not individual instrument amplifiers? Still, if you ever feel the need to run about 25 4x10 cabs, and finally let the guitarists know what it feels like to always be drowned out, that'll be your amp. ^_^
Yep, they make fantastic PA amplifiers, especially as you can rack them up in a reasonably small space. My Powersoft was a mere 1Kw per side.. and I did notice the benefit of having so much headroom available, especially as I use low tunings that need more power to be heard cleanly.
sadly to big to fit in my car. granted the ampeg is gonna be a tight squeeze.
Hi, I was just passing this thread and thought I'd drop in! I have gone the same route as your plan. I used to use two Tech Soundsystem 4x10's in a stereo configuration, but decided for backline monitoring purposes one big cab was all that I needed for the new band. (We could even be using IEMs on tour anyway, so might not even need that!) Anyway, back to the point... I chose the Epifani UL-610 after hearing the 310 and 410 at a BassBash prior to purchasing. I love the low extension and power handling of this cab, coupled with it's ridiculous ease of maneuverability. Granted, they *can* be a bit on the costly side.. but they make up for it in many ways. Have a try.. see what you think. Weighs about 36Kg or something. An Ampeg 810 weighs around 88Kg. http://www.epifani.com/products/concert610.php
UL-610 When you need to move air you have to have speakers -and the more the better! The UL-610 was a custom design made exclusively for bass legends Daryl Jones (Rolling Stones) and Christian McBride but we were so impressed with the results that the UL-610 has now become part of our standard production line. This monster is equipped with six 250 watt Epifani 10" drivers that handle an astonishing 1500 watts (RMS) of power. Utilizing two separate isolation chambers, the UL-610 delivers unsurpassed clarity and accuracy even at high decibel levels. •Speaker: 6 x 250w RMS Cast Aluminum Frame •100w RMS Tweeter •Freq Response: 40hz - 16khz •Power Rating: 1500w RMS (3750w Peak) •4 Ohms •Suggested Wattage: 400w - 2000w •Sensitivity: 104db SPL @ 1w 1m •Recessed Handles •Dimensions: 42" H x 23" W x 18.25" D •82 lbs.
Ha ha ha!!!! Love the control names! Good stuff! - I would love to try more of the MB gear.. but last time, I really didnt get on with the cabs. Maybe it was the room, maybe the gear I was using them with? I think they could get another gop.. just to be sure!
I,m still stunned at being an endorsee,, I love the basses, jons a star and I,m walking round with a silly grin all the time!!. I don,t want to give away the cost in case the taxman is watching tho suffice to say I did get a discount for buying in bulk!!
Hey Paul!! Thanks for your PM, good to chat! - Well! What a beautiful pair of basses! Welcome to the Shuker family! - I think I'm still smilin' too! I really can not think of a single reason why I'd be going with anyone else to build my basses. I am so chuffed with both my 7 and 6 string Shukers. I guess you'll need to post in the Shuker mega thread too eh! ;o) - Fantastic basses there. I've enjoyed reading up about them.
They are strung F# B E A D G so it,s quite easy to adjust from the five string basses I,ve been using til now. They have a wonderful Growl on the lower strings.
I love having that F# string and found no real issues with getting used to 'going lower' either.. and as you say, it sounds great!

Well, didn't have any great weather to get those pictures done I'm afraid... I'll get them up as soon as I have a free moment and the sun peeps out.

Ha ha ha!! I love you guys! you crack me up!!! As it happens, I am due to do a proper video for Jon and some high quality audio clips too that I will be putting 'out there' (on my page on Jon's site too) so that my little babies can be seen in action! I am conscious that the quality of you tube videos generally suck.. so I will be making available a download video as well as the you tube ones. Here's Doodle in action.. This is my LickLibrary 'sting'. There are no amps sims on the audio, just effects on the different bass parts. All your bass are belong to us! {edit} blimey!!! Just noticed - I've lost a lot of weight since that one!!!}

I agree with Mikey D. Both of my basses have a ramp that Jon Shuker and I designed between the two pickups. Having used the ramp all the time I really find it difficult to pickup another bass and play with the same control and..well, finiesse, if I may be so bold to suggest my playing is such! ha ha ha!! (Having said that, I'm pretty screwed if I try to play on a bass with fewer than 6 strings.. I get REALLY lost and confused!!!!!!) Have a look at the pics of my new 6 string (sorry the pics aren't mega clear) http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...st&p=449961 But exactly the same ramp / pup config is on my 7 string bass too, have a look at the diary link on the first page of this thread to see how the ramp is constructed. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=3746 [edit] here's the quick link to the build diary I wrote http://www.danveall.co.uk/Shuker7Page.htm
lovely looking neck on that bass. I've never played a Shuker. Are they any good?
Thank you! Well.. ya know.. it was either a Shuker or a stick, some string and a cardboard box... but I didn't have the skills for the latter ;o) IMHO they are the best basses on the planet.
You'll be looking to offload that tatty old headed thing then? Swap for a Hohner mate?
Deal! is it one of those 'Steinberger' type ones? They're lovely! - he he he - I don't think I could even contemplate partling with my 7 string.. or indeed the Baby Doodle. I think I have arrived at bass Nirvana!
The bass looks great Dood, very elegant - I'm looking forward to seeing some outdoor pics.
Thank you! - I haven't been able to get out this week to take some pics, maybe this weekend.
Very cool and well worth the wait (and the teasing!)
OOoooh! wasn't it just! There were times when I was pulling at my hair hoping it would be ready. The last week was absolute madness! But the more I play it, the more it is totally untouchable by any other bass I have ever played. REALLY kicks ass!!!
I assume that this lovely weather we're having in Essex stretches as far as Norfolk? Where are the final pics ready to transfer this thread from the 'Build' to 'p0rn' forum? Dan, I hear from my buddies back in Norwich that you're playing in a covers band again. Have you got a link to your gig list? I will try to pop back up one weekend if you're playing The Brickies or somewhere similar.
Hi Pete, I'm afraid you've hear that news a bit too late! I have been concentrating solely on Within The Void and recently left the covers band I was playing in, now that the Void are getting busier with material. Thank you everyone for the kind messages. I am very excited about my new Bass! Yes, the weather up here is nice, mebbe get a bit of time later to get the camera out again! You really need to see the finish! I am defintely wanting to be at the next bass bash. Bass Day is on the cards too, where I will without a doubt be on the Shuker stand with both of my amazing basses. Jon has asked for some sound samples, so I will pull my finger out and do some new ones.. mebbe a little video and an update to my page on his website. I have also been playing some of the newest band material on my headless and have to say that it sounds awesome! I think, already I am a definte convertee to the world of headless! *thinks for a moment* hmmm.. headless 7 string??? NO DAN! ha ha ha Not really, I think I am going to be very happy with this pair! Expect pics soon, and thanks again. Dood.
Stunning Dood my friend, can't wait to see the photo's in the sun. Be good to get photo's of Baby Doodle, Blondie and CK''s headless together as well. Looks like Jon's done it again. He never fails. Superb. Just noticed the LEDs. Love em !
Thank you for the kind words John! Yes, that sounds like a great idea! I'm doing some proper photographs for Jon with both of my basses together, mebbe get them up on my page on Jon's website. I'd LOVE to get all three of our headless basses together. I think Jon would love some of those pics too! The LEDs were such a nice surprise! Really wasn't expecting that! - It's a nice simple design that has carried over both basses.. I guess this one is made to be noticed! lol ;o) Yeah, Love it!
The pictures below are a few that Jon sent me prior to collecting Baby Doodle. As you can see, even in these small pictures, the effect of the flip paint is fantastic. Jon has worked on producing some really sumptious curves all round the bass to make an ergonomic and aesthetically pleasing instrument. It is sooooo comfortable and effortless. Expect some more pics soon!
Actually, look at these pics close up to see the flip better, until I have got better ones together.
-
Hi guys!!! Well, I've had a mo' to get the camera out quickly! - I'm afraid the light was really bad, so the paint doesn't look as good as I would have liked to have shown you. Don't worry though, I'll be taking photographs of this one and my seven string together later in the week when it is sunny. The flip paint looks amazing in natural sun light. So, without furtha ahhh-doooo... Here is Baby Doodle! And for the surprise... I think I need to do a closer pic so it can be seen better, but I love it.. tastefully OTT YEAH!!
