On the John Myung picture, the X inlay on the fingerboard looks one fret wrong...you'd think that the centre of it would be between the 11th and 12th fret, thus designating the position/marker of the octave. It's actually between the 12th and 13th, so technically the centre of the inlay is one fret sharp of the octave position. That said, I doubt that it's actually on the fingerboard for any other purpose than design over functionality. P
See, that's where John went wrong going to Yamaha.. Had he have gone to Jon Shuker, he'd have gotten it right first time.. Second time too Then just to rub it in, make sure everyone can see it from the back of the crowd!! http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?act=attach...st&id=23057 lol..... Anyway, The JM bases are lovely. The spacing is a bit wider than I would like, but they have a nice amount of grunt to their sound!
 2.
I think my drummer made me watch some of his video, if its who I think it is ('and now we do the paradidlle with the feet at half the speed of our hands' - was a memorable line!) he's clearly not human! Whats it like playing with a drummer like that?
Ahh yep.. that be him ;o) e does a great 'Arnie' impression too.. yup a machine! There's a You Tube vid we have linked to our our site of him playin' one of our li 'ditties' - Though it was recrded by someone on a camera 'phone, so the sound obviously isn't 'release quality'.. But then, this person *did* get a video when all our kit we were hoping to use decided to..well.. not do anything useful.
lol dooood! i didnt even know he was ur drummer. mad. Z x
Hey Zoe! Yep.. though I'm having to teach him this really difficult beat at the mo' that he just hasn't mastered... dum tish dum dum tish! lol - I jest of course! Very talented!

 5. It's a shame you are all the way over in Birmingham, as I'd like to compare my 6x10 against the MB again to see how they differ! A job for a future bass bash I am sure. Welcome aboard!
 6.
Apart from calling it digital that's quite correct. The 'digital' power supplies are switch mode supplies, which rectify the incoming AC, and then use high frequency switching to turn this DC into high frequency (many kHz instead 50Hz) AC, and then a smaller power transformer (size of power transformer is inversely proportional to the frequency it operates at). You'll find these in tons of modern things, most obviously mobile phone chargers (not how much smaller and lighter they are than 10 years ago). Usually called SMPS. Then they use normal Class AB amps on the 500W models and Class D (which again use high frequency switching but aren't really digital) amps on the 800W+ models. Alex
Thank you Alex! I think this is soon to become a little pet peave of mine! People calling amps 'digital' grr! he he he he!!!! - I posted on another thread about 'digital' amps.. though I couldn't be bothered to explain the technical side and found a useful article link on the net instead. Anyway, back on topic.. ummm... I must admit, I like the tone that people call 'valve tone', but I really can't be dealing with all this smoke and mystery over valves.. they really aren't special and I am fed up all the guff that surrounds these oh so magical creatures of the tone world that lives inside your amp!!! oooh woopdeee doo Basil! What does it all mean! * You can produce those dirty gnarly tones without valves and ironically.. I know for a fact that certain guitar amps on the market that sell as 'amazing valve distortion' are getting their clipping from none other than diodes, back to back in a feedback loop... errr.. solid state anyone he he! ;o) This isn't a rant.. it makes me chuckle! - Ok... and I really like the MarkBass F1 - It's awsome. *Thanks to Mr Powers for the quote.
 7. Defintely EMG dude ;o) You can see the logo and the pickup shell is 'that EMG shape' too ;o) /geek
 8. I found this, if it's of any use? That would suggest the Ampeg 8x10 'tone' I thought of when I heard the track. http://www.uberproaudio.com/content/view/450/38/
 9.
So ADGC?
lol! yes, that would have been quicker to say! lol lol!!!
 10.
Could you make it XT compatible and email me it? Or is that not possible?
Some how it's possible I'm sure! - Whilst I'm at it.. I'm after the settings from the XT default 'Classic Rock' patch... or is it Rock Classic? I'm not sure! - I read that Beyon Bruta used an XT to record with and used said patch with very little tweaking. Sadly, the settings arent the same on the X3.. could you note them for me? I'll see what I can do about the X3>XT.. However, I reckon a scoopy bass amp sound .. and maybe try out the 8x10 cab as a starter. - Drop the bass down a tone as the tuning will naturally lend a hand at that burpy tone.
 11. Mhh..well, if the MB controls are anything to go by, the VLE and VPF controls will scoop out the middle, boost the bass smooth off the top end.. but I reckon there is plenty of bite in those EMGs! Looks like his four string is a 5 string without the G (if that makes sense) and then tuned down a tone ;o)
 12.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BW5E2zvdmIY...feature=related From 2:48, the bass is very prominent. I am in love with that tone, and was wondering if anyone on here could give me tips on how to obtain such tone? My ger is a Line6 Bass PODXT going into a PA speaker. All tips welcome!
Well so far I am very inspired! Very nice tone!! Are they EMG pups in that bass?? and woh!! Is that a MArkBass head I see before me? REWIND! Lemme check it out.. maybe see if I can dial up a similar tone on my X3 later.
 13.
Funnily enough I emptied my loft to make space to put more stuff up there and found semi naked pics of my ex fiance. The wife wasnt impressed.
Wow! Spooky! Funnily enough I emptied my loft to make space to put more stuff up there and found my ex fiance. The wife wasnt impressed.
 14.
This is a great example of judicious use of different styles which enhance the song - as opposed to fretboard w@nkery for the sake of it!
Absolutely. Seeing 'tapping' used in context is great.. there are too many You Tube videos of rubbish out there that probably puts most people off using such a fantastic musical technique. I'm enjoyin' these vids.. Couple of bands I haven't heard of too... so keep them coming! - I'm a bit of a prog freak.. so there's no point posting some vids.. I guess you expect the bass players to be all over the shop anyway! (Rush etc) Anyway.. I'm enjoyin' this thread so lets see some more!
 15.
Ah ok then fair play. Come to think of it, i think they used to make a rather nice one in red too?
The JM1's came in red and in..well.. sort of turquoise
 16. Could you PM me a price guide for the Dell monitor(s)? Thanks!
 17. cool, i'll edit that too!
 18.
I use the ER15s with the matching Sennheiser phones. BLOODY expensive but very, very good. Never had a problem with them coming out, I have to say.
Ok, cool! Thats good news What Sennheiser 'phones do you use? I'm interested! I thought I'd just clarify that I meant the earphone falling out the mould, not the mould out of the ear lol! Oh.. your signature pic.. can't help thinking it's a bit innappropriate for a forum. Fancy changing it mate?
 19. I'm sure you have tried out both rigs together.. how about a mini review describing how the Aggies compare to the Ampegs? ;o)
 20. I LOVED the 7400 head and the matching cabinets.. and the tone of a JCM 800 bass is pretty spesh too. I used to own a 200W IBS head running in to a 2x15. I loved the sound of it.. Simple, clean and loud enough for our little 3 piece I was playing in at the time. Although full of bottom, the 200W didn't cause any bowel movements that the unfortunate model name accronym may have suggested! However, the features of the head were very much an 'integrated bass system'. Would love to see Marshall revist the 7400 heads.
 21. Nice one Andy!
 22. Replied!
 23.
I spoke to them last week about it and BK have discontinued that amp because the power modules they use are no longer available. I bought one of these, a Technical Pro DA-B3000, last week and its turned out to be an excellent purchase! Great sound, very clean, super flat response and hi-fidelity, bringing out a nice firm midrange in my basses. If you paired it up with a decent preamp that wasn't too scoopy (like a Demeter or Alembic F-1X), you'll have an outstanding value for money system. Looked too good to be true but it wasn't. The company also shipped it very efficiently and someone monitored progress of the shipment every day. Ped's got one that is the same design but a different brand name...so these amps get the Basschat Mods Choice seal of approval!
Blue and Red LEDs!!! what a refreshing change! Wow! I want one ha ha ha ha!!!! Thanks Steve, I'll take a look!
 24. Just out of interest, what did you manage to bag it for, as I know 'stag' is most certainly after one!
