Got a bit too bored today, so decided to try to mock up something similar to what this bass might look like. I used Dan's Doodle as the template photo for this. I couldn't get the pickups to angle and stay as rectangles without making the strings look funny. I also couldn't be doing with trying to convert the image from a 7 string to a 6. It's just a quick hack to try to visualise the kind of thing i've got in my head
AWESOME pete!! good skills there mate!
I have one of these pedals, and I can say, they are excellent. 'Tis a good price too.
Yea, I have to say, I really do love the M80. I would keep it, if I thought for a second that it wouldn't be laying redundant, safely wrapped up in my cupboard!
The more I hear about this X3 the less I like it. Nobody likes a smart arse.
Some people are gonna love it, some are going to hate it. The modelling on it is so good though, that at the price GAK are chucking them out the door, it makes good sense for someone like me. I am very impressed and find something else I like about it, each time I power it up. The 8 channel recording option is awesome http://line6.com/podx3live/index.html The X3 isn't really a smart arse... it's just that other multi-effects are still in the dark ages ;oP
Will this drive a poweramp on it's own? Out of interest.
Well, I reckon if the sensitivity of the power amp is of a low enough value, the then answer is yes, it will..HOWEVER, this is not 'the norm' as most power amplifiers on the market are set to accept levels closer to line level and may not have the gain necessary to drive the amplifier to full 'power' from the pedal. I *have* run the M80 successfully in front of a D Class power amp module and it sounded GREAT! -
Thanks DOOD. I think I may give that a shot before rehearsal this evening. I will post an update afterwards. I've had mine a while but rarely used it so I reckon an update is certainly due.
I was reading the Line 6 forum the other day and it seems that quite a few early glitches have been fixed with updates through 'Monkey'. I think Line 6 have defintely got it right using a completely automated service to make firmware, driver and software updates available. Its defintely something that impresses me about their gear! Had another play last night.. as with the UX2, the ability to plug the unit straight into a DAW and record dry / effected audio on seperate tracks without faffing about is awesome.. and it sounds great too.

www.myspace.com/theredappleband
About Red Apple Lead singer Becks (former lead singer for Innersense) and genius keyboard master Reuben Anstey (former keyboard player for Innersense, and Real) joined forces with guitar god Chris Beavis, Dan 'The Dood' Veall (formerly Real and Fallen Icarus bass player, and currently bass player for the awesome upcoming Within The Void), and the crazy hard hitting Ferret (Former drummer for Insaniac, Sod's Law and currently the rockin Mamma's Dream), and Red Apple stampeded into the local rock scene in 2007. With diverse covers including: Within Temptation, Jamiroquai, Queen, Mr Big, Queens of The Stone Age, Whitesnake, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Skunk Anansie and many more, Red Apple will hit you with a massive rockin sound that will blow you away.
Fantastic band!! I'm having to leave my fine friends in this band as I need to concentrate my time on my main band "Within The Void" (withinthevoid.com) which is busy writing album tracks. To get an idea of the sort of stuff Red Apple are doing, take a look at the myspace page. Feel free to ask me more, or contact the band directly. Cheers! Dood.
Part ex for a Radial JDI Duplex but I'd want loads of money from you but you can afford and not only that, you're worth the extra expense of having the best passive di in the world
Hey Ste! Thanks chap.. I'm afraid my stereo DI duties are covered by the X3 too.. Thanks for the offer though! -

The case itself is in great condition (a few scuffs on th eoutside.. but hey... it's a case to protect your amp gear! lol) I removed the locks, hence the low price, but this does not affect the ability to secure the doors tightly in any way. I have also fitted a securing panel to put a mains multipoint extension inside the rack. I will take a picture of this later! It can be left in, as it wont get in the way of any gear going in the rack. One of these http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~G...-4L~ID~1559.asp http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/shop/flypage/product_id/3928 May look for a Gator 3u Shallow rack or maybe a 3u shallow rack bag, depending on make/ model etc. £40 delivered in the UK

I haven't noticed one yet. Whether or not this is a firmware issue, I don't know. I updated mine with Monkey X3 as soon as I got it out the box. Are you on the latest version too?
-
Hmmmm... I'll not follow that one up then ;o)

Sounds like a bit of a dodgy one and I have heard of other people having problems with the SVT5, but I couldn't recall what. I know a chap who gave up on his SVT 4 as it failed so miserably. Might be able to locate a schem' for you. Failing that, Loud Technologies now look after Ampeg stuff in the UK, as I'm sure you have prob' found out already.. you may be able to get a Schematic from them.

If i may add to the rant.. ;o) Why, oh why do manufacturers spend all that money on producing a great piece of gear that is designed to withstand being dropped, kicked, sunk and generally abused, then give it a wall wart power supply with wires that are so weedy, they wont last five minutes! Crayzzeeee!!!

Wow! I always wondered who owned this particular bass! I remember looking at it in the Sei page over and over! I fell in love with Buckeye when I saw this bass! - Especially with the birdseye board! My first Shuker was a Buckeye.. gawjuss! Makes me wanna get another one with the same top and facings! Anyway.. on topic.. I too am not a particular fan of Barts and feel that there's a lot more to get from your bass with different pups/ pre. I've always been a fan of EMG's but I know they are not everyones faves.. Good luck with the upgrade and would love to hear which route you follow.
TBH though, what would be different about his 'signature' model? I don't really get why fender make them unless they are different in ways other than the colour or a mark here and there... ped
The addition of a signature to bump the price up would be the only difference in that particular case! lol Nah.. don't see the point either, unless there is a significant difference in the instrument design.
I thought Duff has been using Fender Custom Shop made Jazz Specials for years now?
I'm no fanatic, but his original Black and White basses were off the hook Jazz Bass Specials. One I believe was sent to him to 'try out'. He had new pups dropping in and I suspect they had a fair amount of work done on them over the years too! - I have read about the 'custom shop' thing before.. but I don't think that is totally true.. Maybe the basses were known as 'custom shops' before they were released to the market as 'Jazz Bass Specials'. Another assumption would be that the two original basses *aren't* the ones he has now.. and these 'replacements' are custom shops, as the original Jap JBS basses aren't made anymore. Maybe there is some clarification out there on the net from Mr McKagan himself?
I heard something along the lines that the Stranglers management approached Fender to make one but they they refused. Heathens
On a related note, I was somewhat surprised to see the 'new' Duff McKagan signature basses are nowhere near as nice as the original Japanese 'Jazz Bass Special' that he uses. I bought my original Power Jazz Bass Special - a 1989 model for 200 quid from the US.. the new signature one I believe is a lower spec MIM costing £500. I think i'd rather buy another Jap model as it will be far close to Duff's original.

Is this guy back in operation then? I never received any replies to my emails, so I gave up on him.
Having fun yet?
Oh god am I!! - Didn't really get a great deal of time with the unit yesterday... However, it is very obvious that this tool is a very powerful piece of kit! I have been playing with the Dual amp paths and effects for guitar so far.. Bass later on.. I can actually see me using just this and backline/IEM's if everything goes to plan! You'll know the outcome when a lot of nice gear comes up for sale! lol lol Expect a review of sorts soon!

Aaa cute.. I want to hug it!! Until it growls back and rips my head off... 'Chocolate Thunder' sounds like the description of it's sound... Thick, tastey and rumbles like nothing else on earth!!

Just arrived.. I'm off to open the box......
Anyone here going to try to sign up to test the rig? I would have though there's at least a couple of bassists here with the kind of profile that TC are looking for... Dood?
I'm going to drop the artist relations peeps a line.. I have been using TC gear for years now and still havent found anything as good as the TC G-Force.. and it is, in terms of how fast technology moves, a rather old piece of kit! Dood.

Make a 1KW version TC!!!! On the subject of the MultiBand compressor on board, I already own a TC C300 compressor.. and the Bass Compressor on there is the BEST i have ever heard and used. The EBS MultiComp is good.. but this one is awesome. The rack unit is idiot proof, you set the main dial to the type of instrument you have plugged in (including full mastering sources for example) and then tweak the settings. The compressor chooses what mode it should be in for that type of music (Multi / Full band) and also is one of the very few compressors on the market with parallel compression built in. Now.. if that's the compressor on board this amp... it's going to be seriously good!
