  1. Oh wait, scrub that - it didn't record my voice lol.. I can do a fresh one if you need.
  2. Ha ha ha, I'll end up costing you more money in the future If you need help regarding the above, I've just knocked up a quick video for you. Lemme know if you want it sent over if my words made no sense above
  3. sorry, yes ignore the tone thing - I mean, it will work too added in too but no, you won't need it
  4. No, you're still fine, I think it's just a case of getting things in the right place. You'll be able to do this without soldering, I've just looked at a typical VVT set up - it's all good still!
  5. Yup, I'm familiar with it
  6. Surely you're using the volume and tone pots from the EMG set though? They daisy chain down to the circuit board, which only really serves to change the quick connect end in to a screw terminal ? The screw terminals connect to the input of the preamp.
  7. Yes, that's absolutely correct
  8. Hmmm, I can't remember if the kit comes with the pickups, but there is a harness from EMG that allows you to mate EMG quick-connects with "normal bare wires" using an EMG screw terminal block. I've done this on various basses and it works a treat. Given that Spector have used EMG actives and the TonePump preamp together, I am sure that when its connected up it will sound great!
  9. I think you'll be pleased! I've been playing EMG for over 25 years and love them; for all genres of music. DC's are my favourites but I've a Geezer Butler (passive P) set to put on a bass as soon as I can that promise to also be great!
  10. Yes, but parallel compression mainly. My secret weapon for well over 20 odd years.
  11. Well you all know how I feel about Shuker. Hell, it’s been well over ten years now I should probably propose 😂😂 Anyway, I’m a massive Shuker 6 string fan. We worked really hard on mine (and it’s older sister) that are enjoying many years of solid service. Anyway, congratulations on a stunning bass. I know Jon Shuker’s work is well regarded amongst luthiers.
  12. Hey no problem! Great cabinets too!
  13. It's ok for the money but woefully low on memory and SSD space. I can't comment if this model can be upgraded, but, given the costs to do the upgrade, you might be better off looking for something nearer the spec I mentioned. Processor speed is also going to have you head scratching as soon as you start running virtual instruments in you DAW.
  14. If you can find one of the I7 Quad core models (I think they were around 2.3Ghz) with 16Gb mem on board and if you're lucky a decent size SSD, you'll be set. If you find a lower spec model, you can't upgrade the memory and although it's easy to swap out the HDD, it depends on if you are up for opening up the case as it is a little faff. Not impossible though!
  15. Same. As soon as I got my Dingwall basses (sadly no longer with me) I moved the rear strap button down towards the centre of the body to stop the bottom kicking out when I played standing up. Interestingly (or not) my main Shuker has two strap buttons on the back of the body. Yes, they do act as feet for when my bass is stood on the floor, thus protecting the finish, but actually my strap connects to the lower button, not the higher one. i discovered that by attaching the straps at “opposite corners” of the body, the bass was more likely to stay put in exactly the same position all night, whatever I was doing. It also holds the bass flat against me and counteracts the small food baby I have grown recently lol
  16. Bless ya heart thank you! Well, short answer, there’s a lot of metal hanging off the end of the neck there. Balance is a tough one as their isn’t a strap button anywhere near the 12th fret (think Fender for example) and thus it is inevitable that there’s going to be neck dive and a pull on the shoulder. Swapping in super light tuning keys is likely to help, but the design of the bass (and no fault of Vintage of course) means that it will always be something to deal with, either with a wide suede strap or other means.
  17. I’ve two of the Power Jazz Bass Special versions (fretted).
  18. The 1980’s called to say hi.. oh and boy do I want to own a fretless Jazz Bass Special!
  19. Blimey! Lockdown getting to ya all? 🤣
  20. Jon Shuker makes the signature model for one of our famous Precision bass players, JJ Burnell. It’s sublime in both more traditional configurations and Shuker’s “carbon lyte” carbon necked, chambered body versions. or to put it another way, Jon can and will make exactly what you want with the added input of his years of experience. http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk
  21. Crickey! I must be the only person to have an official EMG hex tool!
  22. I sold this bass back when I was around 18 to a guy in Suffolk. It reappeared many years later when his son sold it on eBay. i understand it now lives in a studio somewhere in Suffolk. I’d love to know where...
  23. I guess I ought to see what I can do!! Both sound awesome!
  24. Thank you It's pleasingly capable of way more as I've only scratched the surface with this video. Definitely feels like there's big tone in there to play with. Just waiting for that 410 to break in a bit
