  1. Thank you very much indeed! Yup, Even when I was a kid I’d day-dream about being an artist in my favourite magazine. (My Dad used to subscribe me to Guitarist Magazine when I was a teen). I’d never guess that I’d actually be writing for the magazine! So yes, it does mean a huge amount to me. I just hope I do a good job!!!, Thank you for the suggestion and actually you are spot on, Joel my editor has been fantastic. It was he who sent over the BPM edition as it happens. It was just on this occasion, as I asked long after the Jan issue was out (released in December) that I was unable to grab a fresh copy off the press at the time. That’s really no problem at all. I didn’t want to hassle for a copy, the team are incredibly busy, all the time BC has come to my rescue which is just wonderful! Thank you again, I love doing video reviews and I am pleased to say that I continue to be the bass section of Guitar Interactive Magazine too. Those videos will continue!!!, Please keep sharing the links and review videos!
  2. Awww you just know I'm also going to turn this in to a playlist.. beautiful sounds!! Keep them coming!!
  3. Cosmo Valdemar, The Maartian. The Maartian, Cosmo Valdemar..
  4. Ahhh ha ha ha! Ok, got ya! Bass Guitar Magazine is the UK version, Bass Player Magazine will of course thus be the US print.
  5. As the title asks, post your favourite recorded examples of these effects. Youtube videos are always welcome * *I'll mention the most popular examples in BGM!
  6. I have no idea what you mean. Which magazine is which?
  7. Does anyone have a copy of this one they no longer need? It's for my scrap book! Writing for BGM is a bit of a dream come true for me, so I'd like to have a copy of my first "edition" as it were. I am mega excited to have received the Bass Player equivalent this morning, which just blows my mind if I am honest - but the BGM is a biggy for me. PM me or reply here
  8. Once again a super slick transaction selling an item to Mike. Great communications and all round nice guy!
  9. If I had the cash I would buy it back too! Its a lovely instrument that I do miss.
  10. Sorry I missed this! - I will check the answer specifically, but I think that its assignable in (certain?) effect blocks. Volume and Wah I suppose is taken as read.
  11. The HD212 is discontinued and is a "heavy" cabinet, but it sounds amazing and I'd love to own one. the HDN212 is Neo speakers and thus much lighter but having owned one for a bit, it has a decent amount of low end. On the subject of Bergs, I really want to try out the brand new NXT range that, on paper is going to bridge the gap between the advantages of both Neo and Ceramic. Exciting times! The GS410 I thought was a great cab, but I preferred the much deeper sound of the Aguilar GS212 when I tried them both together. Thats down to taste alone, so something you'll want to try - but I can certainly remember thinking the EBS TD650 and Aguilar GS212 was a tone match in heaven!
  12. I've been rocking my ear plugs for well over a year now. As a professional musician, the scheme and after care is literally a no-brainer. The plugs are actually made by ACS, who, of course, know a bit about hearing protection! I'm not sure when, but I'll be due a hearing test from them again soon. I got my kit' via the Musicians Union - who deserve a plug themselves. If you aren't a member, then join up there too!
  13. Ahhhh man! I didn’t offer any trades as your thread specifically said “No Trades”. It’s all cool no worries. I’d love to get an HD212 at some point though.
  14. If you decide to buy outright, I can do you a Tech 21 MIDI Moose for £60+delivery that I have advertised. Its boxed and can be considered "as new" because I don't think there's a mark on it: http://www.tech21nyc.com/archive/midi-moose/ PM me if you want to chat. I have an advert on BC elsewhere.
  15. I often think back to the gear I had then. It was SO cool, but yes, it weighed a ton! - The good news is that I'm getting a pretty good replica of the sound recorded with the kit I'm using now, but, it's not the same as having that huge rig on stage with me! That was lovely and my chiropractor was kept in business for a long while! I found some old pictures of the 'rig of doom' the other day. Ahhhh happy days!
  16. Recently I have been haunted by Ampeg G.A.S. I can’t carry one, afford one or will probably need one, but I want an SVT II Pro again. I think it’s because the SVT4Pro model on the Helix sounds so good. Oh, and at the last minute I decided not to snatch a bid on my old SVP-BSP that I spotted on eBay. It would have been an easy win, but I stopped myself last minute.
  17. Phew! That was close! I nearly had to sell one of my children to buy these!!
  18. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Brilliant!!!!
  19. Absolutely! My first tuning device was a set of pitch pipes!! Many years later my first electronic tuner had a big switch to select the string you wanted to tune and a needle bobbed all over the place wasting my time whilst attempting to bring the bass in to tune. Yeah I can kinda understand the producers thing certainly for tuners of yesteryear. The "cheap stuff" available at the time for us poor musicians varied in accuracy between brands. Unless everyone used the same tuner then yes, tuning discrepancies were obvious even to my relatively young ear in music. I recall trying to talk a guitarist out of using their tuner because it was either shockingly inaccurate or broken! Hopefully those issues should be less of a problem today, or rather, it's less likely to be the fault of the tuner itself.
  20. I couldn't find a feedback thread for David, so I have taken the liberty of creating one! It's "all thumbs up" from me! David has recently bought a pedal from me and it was a super smooth transaction.

  21. In all seriousness, I teach all of my students to tune accurately by ear especially for such times that the tuner fails to switch on. - Just a case of also teaching a student how to get the drummer/guitarist/WhoeverIsFaffingAroundMakingTooMuchNoise to be quiet long enough to get the bass in tune too!
  22. Ahh! Close! D'Addario / Planet Waves actually do a version that is designed to fit on to the tuning key mounting! https://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/accessories-c2/tuners-c51/clip-on-c490/planet-waves-ns-micro-tuner-clip-free-pw-ct-21-p12335?gclid=Cj0KCQiApaXxBRDNARIsAGFdaB-eVj9D-KyUnbjwpNYMo91nIgi-DhuXjS48CNm0c1wc2qpY2E1A_GEaAjZ1EALw_wcB It's brilliant and means that NO ONE CAN NICK IT!!!!! ha ha ha!! (You can just slide the tuner off the clip to change the battery or what-have-you but don't tell the band mates that!!)
