  1. How many BassChatters know my answer already?
  2. Its safe to say it is brilliant though and my Mongoose is staying put. The MIDI Moose hasn't had a look in since I got the Mongoose!
  3. Definitely TransferWise! I even have the card too now.
  4. WOO! That looks like a cool way to run the rig! The only thing I have spotted that might need keeping an eye on is the level coming out of the Ashdown in to the B3. There isn't a gain control on the B3 - and I found that I could clip the input stage just with a bass using EMG active pickups. If the effects loop is a bit on the hot side, it might need taming before hitting the front end of the B3. Love the Octave in parallel with drive That will be nice!
  5. The MIDI Mongoose (I have one) will happily change presets but it can not send CC messages (Which for example could switch on or off individual effects in a chain) - I've not tried the F.I with it, but I suspect it will be the same for that too: Patch changes handled easily. If you are happy with just preset changes, well, I've actually got a boxed MIDI Moose here (for sale on BC) that I've been meaning to pass on! PM me if you are interested.
  6. Which raises the question, given that customs and excise probably don't know their Brazilian from their Indian, will instruments with what looks like Rosewood on be halted in passage anyway, no matter where it came from. Thus, it's probably not going to be that helpful lifting restrictions. Border control are still going to be busy and bits of paper will still need to be signed - and paid for?
  7. Gonna hang on to this one for now as something I was looking for came up. I might change my mind though who knows lol.
  8. A super fast transaction with Lorenz, my 'new'' amp arrived today and a quick spin shows off it's been very well looked after. This could be one of the fastest transactions I've had on BC and a big thumbs up from me for communications and updates from Lorenz.
  9. One for the quotes thread
  10. Pretty sure my 5500 has one of these on the back too. I checked my Hartke Kilo but it has a voltage slider switch instead.
  11. Its cool Alec, EBS is just joshing, he's a very capable engineer - but, to continue the banter, yeah, I've seen said micing practices. Only last year i played a massive outdoor gig and the ehem "professional" PA company turned down the option of a direct DI and no backline in preference of micing a 12" bass cone with a 57... but, there was so much distance between the microphone and cabinet i had plenty of space to place my bass, on stand, in between!!! Needless to say, the bass sounded rubbish. I'd have sent them a flat cab sim signal as well if they wanted, but the engineer got scared.
  12. It was a total peach! I did sell it to get my current pair of Shukers that have been in service for over ten years now. I've been through a lot of basses but the Shukers have, understandably, outlived the lot. I can't wait until I can get another!
  13. What's the string spacing on this one Harry?
  14. I've depped for many function bands over the years and have to say that, at least, around here, I would say that in ratio, bands play fewer similar songs to each other than differing set lists. Maybe I just got lucky, like the legend of the Phoenix.
  15. YES!! I use TW too - I have a card with them now too and I recommend TW to anyone who is wanting to buy from me and lives abroad. My last bass went to Austria and using TW will have saved a huge amount in bank transfer charges.
  16. Super smooth transaction and nice to put a face to Pat! We chatted, played some bass and my Ibanez went to a new home. Thank you!
  17. A super smooth transaction, great communications and super helpful. My Dingwall made a smooth journey to Austria and it sounds like one happy buyer! Thanks for making this so easy ! Cheers!
  18. I'm afraid I couldn't try it on Upright or EUB, but here's my review of an impressive little set up.
  19. Thank you! Yeah I’ve not heard it before!
  20. As ezbass says, yup no problem. For 16th note grooves check out Bobby Vega’s plectrum work and more recently Cody Wright. If you wanna check out handy bass work of a higher tempo, then Dave Ellefson sorts out the men from the boys he he!
  21. I read an interview with Steve and he did mention that the EV’s didn’t do deep lows, true. That was certainly my understanding of the EVM12L too. I’d be interested to find out what the likes of Kevin Shirley et al chose to capture the tone. There are certain classic combinations I suppose and I’ll certainly just experiment here in my virtual world for fun, but ultimately just curious as I understand the variables involved with capturing a sound in a recording.
  22. Anyone know off hand what mics are used and placement for SH’s EV loaded Bass Cabinets? Its proving difficult to find out! The rest of the signal chain only took 2 minutes to find out!
  23. He he he he! That's brilliant!! If I do, I'll endeavour to credit you!
  24. It's daft isn't it? I mean, my keyboard player uses an "88 key Piano weighted controller" for every gig along with a second synth on top. I don't think anyone has ever complained because she wasn't using the high notes all the time or has too many keys!
  25. Yeah, but band members even forget that the bassist themselves needs somewhere to stand! There's one gig I particularly don't enjoy where I have so little room, if I step backwards I get the keyboard player's mic stand in my back or a step forward means I am resting my nuts on the hi-hats. I wish I were joking! - I have up bringing my amp as I had to balance everything on under window seating. Precarious to say the least!
