  1. I went in with both feet and ordered @64 Audio V8 models via The Custom IEM Company (who are amazing by the way). 64 Audio then offered a deal to upgrade to the newer A series.. and well.. I did. They are 8 drivers per ear in a moulded unit. They sound a bit like sitting in the front seat of a quality cinema when you have a great mix to plug in to. On the face of it, they seem really expensive, but when you price up a decent full range speaker cabinet per ear along with the added benefits of IEMs, it made lots of sense to me. I use them for everything now as well as just enjoying great sounding music whilst working. (Even tracking bass for an album release). As suggested in the BIG thread, I'd set yourself up for a visit to The Custom IEM Company who actually stock some of the best makes in IEMs where you'll be able to try them out to see what suits you best. 64 Audio might not be your thing, You might like JH or Ultimate Ears for example, that's for you to decide because we all hear things differently, but I have a huge thumbs up for 64 Audio that have been gigged loads without missing a beat. http://www.custom-inearmonitors.co.uk
  2. You'll also need a fair amount of coffee and a few free days. However I think it is one of the most informative threads on the internet regarding IEMs. I even bought my gear off the back of this thread.
  3. https://www.gotaukulele.com/2015/05/something-fishy-fishing-line-as-ukulele.html ok, so it turns out it is d0-able!
  4. I was listening to someone telling me the other day that there is a company that actually uses fishing line for quality Ukulele strings! - I can't prove that, but it seems logical and not that far fetched!
  5. On the subject of D'Addario, they will sell single strings too - and the customer service is awesome. I use their Balance Tensions on a couple of my basses. You can use this app to set up your own BT sets too from their ranges of gauges. http://stringtensionpro.com Yes, I agree that custom winders such as Newtone will be able to offer more proprietary selections, but that's the beauty of having brands like D'Addario and Newtone available to us. Anyway, good luck, I hope you get set up quickly!
  6. In fairness, Newtone strings is like one guy making countless packets of strings a day. He probably gets 100's of emails, especially as Newtone offer custom gauge strings that folk may not be able to get "off the hook" as it were. There's also the possibility that at least your email message went in to his spam bin unfortunately. That could happen. Have you tried the old school thing of talking to Newtone directly?
  7. And again.. GRRR!!
  8. And why is the browser inserting images in posts that I have deleted? ^^^^^^^
  9. Ok, so weirdly two posts have appeared this morning. But neither have inserted the extra images I wanted to appear.
  10. Oh! ha ha! And when I hit post here, I received this message:
  11. It's happening again! I've just tried posting twice on the https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/341025-have-you-ever-purchased-your-old-bass-back/#comment-3741713 thread - and although my browser has gone through the motions, nothing has appeared. I've checked with a different browser (logged out) and no post to be seen! WIERD! I'm going to leave it for a bit then try to post again using a different browser. Just thought I'd flag it up.
  12. Twice I have tried to! The first, my Fender Precision PB70US (as discussed in the John Deacon thread) went to a lovely chap here on BassChat. He wobbled a bit having moment when he wanted to sell, but, understandably after playing it lots more, decided to keep. I can't blame him really, it was a lovely bass I sold in a stupid moment ha ha! The other, another precision bass I sold when I was 18. I had the offer to join a well known local band as lead guitarist. Yes, I sold a bass that was dear to me. SILLY! - In a weird twist of fate though it reappeared both on eBay and hear some 25 years later! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it and recognised it immediately. The guy selling it originally was the son of the chap I passed the bass too. He subsequently sold it to the BassChatter who advertised it here. Unfortunately there were some misinterpretations of what the bass actually was and thus the value started creeping up and up, too far away from my budget. Apparently, the instrument in question resides in a studio around Suffolk or Essex! Who knows which, I don't know!!

  14. I think I’ve found a solution and will post back when it arrives should anyone else want to protect their IEM kit.
  15. I have one of these "mixer" chaps for my IEMS. I could use my iPad to set up my levels but I prefer having knobs to to twiddle mid performance. When it comes to packing up, it goes in to a flight case with a divided section that has pull & pluck foam in. It works and keeps the mixer safe from bashes. The P16m sits in it's own foam slot. I want to try a different case as I am downsizing and have thought about butting the P16m in to some sort of foam lined ABS shell to protect the knobs on top. I could then use an overall smaller case. Thing is.. can I find anything even remotely suitable? NAH!! So, infinite wisdom of BassChat I need help! I've tried Peli Style cases and even Tupperware but I am running out of ideas. What do you think? Anyone do injection moulding or anything here?
  16. I have your answer!!! I had Roqsolid make me a custom padded bag for my pedal board which was oversized due to having a Helix LT mounted on it with some other pedals. Worth every penny! (Although it's sitting upstairs doing nothing at the moment ha ha!!) If you speak to Bryn at Roqsolid, they are really helpful at getting the design you need right and the materials they use are of a very high quality too. @ROQSOLID recently made me a set of cases for my function band's lights as replacements weren't available. I also had a free Mic bag thrown in too, which I think might survive wars! Dan.
  17. Oh yes.. it is very good!
  18. Arrived and I popped two in my natural P bass pick guard even before trying them out
  19. OOOPH!! Well that's my Start fetish sorted then!!
  20. Now that one was a particularly good machine. Sadly, just before my life came a tumbling down around me, I had to let that one go along with both of my Dingwall basses. I am very pleased that the bass went to a good home and is still being loved! Definitely keeper material. Heaven knows how Jon manages to find such gorgeous pieces of wood!
  21. Awww thank you Pete! - The maple board PB70 basses are also rather lush!!
  22. The only downside is the treatment as some flip paints don't like going on a surface such as wood rather than that of solid metal surfaces. One of my basses (whose finish is over ten years old) is a little brittle as it was the best paint available at the time. The new mixtures are much better.
