    Getgood drums?

I've been using EZD2 in my home studio for a long while, but my 'new' band have just been tracking drums using GGD and the mixes are sounding really good. I've only got a demo on my home machine to play with so I can't really comment on use I'm afraid.
  2. Excited about a new band that is finally tracking album songs! They sound so much better than the first demos, HAPPY!

One of your side projects D?

  3. Well, the DTuner when set up properly will be super fast, no doubt. Though in any gig situation, if any of my band members need to say, change guitar or what have you, then it’s usually factored in to our performance to ensure there are no long pauses. That’s possibly something you could look in to if you end up not going for the DTuner?
  4. It’s an amazing gadget and I used one for years, but I have to admit, once you learn how to drop tune by ear, it takes a short amount of time (or with a tuner of course). This is probably the reason why I would like a drop tuner, but in over 20 years since not having one, I’ve never needed it ha ha!
  5. Honestly a thing of beauty! The DBS heads had over engineered power supplies and a power amp with a huge amount of headroom even for it’s seemingly tiny 400W output vs today’s standards. Looking at the schematics, the preamplifier is really nice. The only downside was that this whole rig was a hernia inducer !!
  6. I love my in-ears and all the RnR killing, but there’s a rig I would have loved to have owned! My first decent bass rig was the (rather unfortunately named) Intergrated Bass System from Marshall. Many I am sure didn’t think much of it, but I always had compliments This was to be the natural progression but I ended up playing lead guitar for many years instead.
  7. Right folks, these are still £750 online prices post-Crimbo. Speak to me if you are interested and I will see what I can do for you. I'd like to get this sold so I am all ears. Mainly long bass playing fingers, but ears too.. lol...
  8. Drop NewTone Strings a line. I'd bet they'd even do the gauges you wanted too
  9. We're all MU members, so fortunately we've not had anything pulled that we really care about, (i.e. important gigs, functions etc) mainly because we have a signed contract in place. I feel for those that have been plopped on; I appreciate that the MU subs might seem expensive at first look, but it only needs to save one gig to pay for itself I suppose. Oh and I see no problem with calling out venues/managers/promoters for acting badly. In fact, the MU like to hear about them and their misdemeanours!
  10. On a Mac you can combine two hardware devices as an 'Aggregate Device', so both are seen as one unit with multiple ins and outs. I can't comment on Windows I'm afraid.
  11. Ah! Great, I've found the manufacturer! @petetexas http://www.current-logic.com/dcdc_converter_cpt_fulree.php
  12. You certainly can! Are you ok with soldering? The problem is, I can't find the exact item I bought to do the same! Here's the closest: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/14-50V-To-12V-5-5-2-5DC-Male-Converter-CPT-Car-power-Step-Down-Regulator-OL/183401643613?epid=9004621668&hash=item2ab396fe5d:g:wVIAAOSwZOBbhAFr:rk:2:pf:0 which is a little convertor that in the case of the above will allow you to but anything up to 50V in and get 12V DC out. The one I bought was a 9V output version but I can't find them on eBay at the moment! Here's the title from my purchase history: 5.5*2.5DC Male 11-50V to 9V Converter Step Down Regulator CPT Car power UK It was £4 and I bought these: 5.5mm x 2.1mm Female DC Power Socket CCTV male Connector solder 1-15 inline plug to give me options as to what I solder on. I also bought a 5V USB version that allows me to power USB devices from pedal board PSUs! Of curse you will want the 9V version and I am sure they are out there, maybe on AliExpress or similar. If I had the time I'd make up loads of these as they have been really useful when you have one really good 'pedal power' power supply.
  13. MIDI Controllers ideal for Helix Stomp etc!
  14. Yup, like Alder there is good and there is bad. Basswood has been a good choice for some really full sounding guitars over the years.
  15. The current NG’s are made from Alder aren’t they?
  16. You’re not wrong! I am so worried, I’ve seen so many posts about stuff being stolen bikes, guitar gear, cars, everything 🤬
  17. And in turn as you well know that you and @EBS_freak helped me on my journey to @64 Audio too! My V8’s and I went for the upgrade to A8 series.. I think I’ve finished paying for them about now ha ha ha! I’ve gone through a cable and have a new one on the way (somewhere!) but they have come to every gig for the last, what, two and a half years? They’re great and I use them for tracking session bass and just sometimes when I need some peace and quiet. Which could be a good plan as I really need, or would like to start some sort of meditation to sort my head out.. that’s for another thread though. Love my A8’s
  18. *UPS thead madness
  19. I’ve just been asked about these.. I think I’ve sold them, so in case I have I’d better close this ad.
  20. I think as the FRFR thread has progressed it has been the 12.2 that I found I kept coming back to even though I'd love the budget for the RCF NX45. The 12.2 seems to be in better reach. Then I saw this post (Sorry if you're not on instagram) Deal sealed if the above wasn't enough to go on!! Great work Basschat. This is why I love this forum
  21. Some great points! And thank you. I have to admit I was just a little bit apprehensive to ask, but I figured if I just jumped in with two feet and asked the question, then at least I can do what I can to endeavour to make the reviews better. I can only apologise to @AndyTravis for taking over a bit! Sorry!
  22. 9/10 the instruments are sent from the distributor and, unless they specifically say "fitted with D'Addario strings", there's actually no way of knowing. If the strings are flat wounds or tapes or similar then for sure I mention it every time. To be honest though, by the time the sound has gone via a players fingers through a particular amp and microphone combination, in to the recording suite, tweaked for online media then uploaded to a lossy format such as YouTube, you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference between brands of the same type of string. Maybe we should issue the Pepsi challenge
  23. The problem with this is usually down to the way that kit is recorded in a studio environment. Winding the volume up causes all sorts of problems for say, as an example, the vocal mic. Yes you are so right about the sound when the video is watched. In nearly all of my videos I tell the listener to make sure they are at least listening on decent speakers or cans. I've seen plenty of comments where folk just don't understand why things sound dreadful on such tiny speakers. They actually complain that the sound is "tinny" on their laptop. It makes you so pleased that the recordings were made on thousands of pounds worth of high end studio gear!! Ok, so, It appears that I'm not too far off with what people generally want. I've highlighted the very things we try to do in my own reviews - of course we can't do everything, every time but certainly I do focus on, "No Shred, No Ego, Just Bass". Most bass lines through reviews are Major, Minor or Pentatonic and I try not to cloud judgement with overly busy playing. - and I like to take the time to actually play whilst I demonstrate each control. Yes, we always have a camera on the knobs (not just the one with the bass ha ha) Hopefully my playing technique is consistent enough that it renders a looper in this case not needed. Playing with an accompaniment up until recently has been a problem, but thanks to a studio upgrade, that could be a possibility, however constraints in time and costs, I don't know if I'll be offering it this year! Finally, thank you so, so much for the comments of support. Having a bit of a hard time maself, so this has lifted me. Merry Christmas one and all x
  24. It depends on the bass. I'd say with an active bass there would be practically no difference because of the way the active electronics buffers the signal in the same way that the pedal would. Even with a passive, after the signal has been processed by in-house editing then compressed to **** because it has been rendered for a magazine, then sent to YouTube, you'd be hard pushed to be able to tell the difference - especially if you are also listening on earbuds or laptop speakers!
  25. Placing a looper in the effects loop of an amp you are demoing, for the most part, would be pointless as the effects loop on most amplifiers actually is after the preamp (EQ, drive. pre-shape controls etc). Only some amps out there have the loop before this section.
