  1. On the subject of repairs, yes, a friend of mine repaired a huge hole in an acoustic guitar and I couldn't see where he'd done the repair when complete. But of course the Tacoma story was a bit different. It wasn't Andy's responsibility to fix something that UPS destroyed. Get well soon matey!
  2. Useful (for) PoohSticks
  3. I've just seen one of the most beautiful 6 string basses I've clapped my eyes on and it's going up on Facebook and Instagram tonight.

  4. The first question is always "What's your budget", but to be honest the answer will either be Helix, Helix HX Effects or Helix Stomp I do also really like and rate the Zoom B3 and Zoom B3n which are very, very good for the money.
  5. I was talking to Jon just the other day about Uberhorn. The electronics on this one came up in conversation and he'd said that at the time, this bass was a the prototype to Uberhorn and thus so were the electronics on board. The "best" way to do things at the time he recalls. Like the upgrades here, Jon is now using John East's UniPre and Piezo Buffer in the Uberhorn basses as standard. (Other pickups are available etc) . So it sounds like things have come on a long way and the systems now supplied are way more resilient - oh and from this thread, it appears they sound amazing too! I want an Uberhorn!!!
  6. I would guess that Bluetooth's latency would probably be a problem if "live sound" and the received Bluetooth signal were to be heard at the same time by the listener. It would be really distracting. Your second question, yes I think some devices allow for multiple log ins, but my feeling is that signal can only pass between one pair at a time. I don't know that for sure, but with certain household gadgets I own with bluetooth, that's the case.
  7. Valeton sold to Jonathan Bee!
  8. Hey Ian, We're all a big fam' here and we all have 'those days'. It's cool, we're good. I do know how you feel though. I am a nightmare, probably the worst especially when it comes to a potential big purchase. I want answers dammit lol It is so bad these days that it took me three days to choose a screen protector for my 'phone to make sure it was the best for the money. I'm not even joking. The annoying thing is..... I haven't even bought one yet!
  9. And right back atcha!
  10. With the err... likelihood that I will be saving up my pennies for a Line 6 HX Stomp, here's a few pedals it will be replacing: TC Electronic DreamScape £75 Valeton DC-10 Analogue Octave £30 SOLD £7 goes toward insured and tracked delivery please. All pedals are in excellent condition but have velcro on the bottom. (The TC's are taking a hit as the prices have gone down so much! Yikes!) I'll add more as I decide what goes next!
  11. I'm used to playing my ER Basses with all sorts of effects and goodies and they sound ace. This afternoon however I have been playing my (new) old Precision bass with nothing but me and amp. It sounds insanely good. I even tried out some of the effects that I am used to using live... nope, P bass just sounds amazing without. Really good. It reminds me of a sound I had in my head when I was younger (my first REAL P bass when I was 18). Happiness.

I'm feeling excited at the prospect of turning up to a gig with a battered old P, but I've got a lot of work to do on some of the sounds that the band uses to fit it in. I do need that low B for a few songs though.

Ah, simplicity is a wonderful thing! Like you, lately I've had a hankering for a 4-string Stingray, which was all I played for years back in the 80's. Unfortunately I've been playing 5's for nearly three decades now, and all the 4's I've picked up over that period (for mainly nostalgic reasons - although I've never had another a Stingray 4, oddly enough) I've moved on again fairly quickly because I missed the low B, or 'the thumb rest' as I call it, too much. It's all in my head, I'm sure of it...

I'll be running through my gig sets hopefully next week if I have a chance. The worst case I thinks that I'll need to punch in an Octave pedal when I want those low notes. I could even try out a -5 semitones on a pedal to get the "low B string" (100% wet effect) - which won't sound the same but for the odd part of a song it might work.. but that P bass though... yum!

  12. There's also been studies in to the existence of music notation Dyslexia too. Folk who may not be affected by "normal" Dyslexia finding that they struggle to read notation with similar symptoms.
  13. I've found no aftermarket covers for EMG sized pickups, yet, if you were to chat with maybe someone like @intime-nick, maybe it'd be possible to commission a shell that could be chromed?
  14. Yes.
  15. Crickey! Another 6 months and this thread would have been dead for ten years!
  16. Thinking about it, I think as a desktop device the touch screen could be good, but on the floor under beer... maybe not.. Now, an iPad controller.... For me, the moment I started to like Logic Pro was shortly after I installed the iPad app, which is brilliant. I love the shortcuts etc.
  17. Last night I played yet another weekend gig. Turned up with my pair of basses, my case full of leads and my LT. My In-Ears and a little Ultranet 'mixer' completed my set up. After a 3 hour gig, putting that little lot back in the car was rather nice weaving through the danced-out drunkards. I keep threatening to just turn up to gigs with a mini pedal board and a DI box.. but I've been reaching for LT every time. (Don't even suggest HX Effects or HX Stomp). No, I probably don't need it and yes, I probably do need to pull my finger out and expand on my current patch library. You can't take away from the fact that when set up well, it sounds 'the absolute nuts'. I have owned a huge amount of processors over the years and this is turning in to my favourite after spending lots of time with it. I can only imagine what will happen when they bring in a touch screen and a smartphone swipeable GUI!
  18. It's quite the looker! Wow! Any idea regarding the weight? I can't quite gauge the string spacing. 18mm? Possibly 17mm? That quilt looks lovely. Yeah I'd like to try one of these. Interesting!
  19. You wouldn't happen to know the string spacing on these would you @patrikmarky?
  20. The more basic LTD Stream basses are cheaper than the pretty tops - and are actually rather nice. I think I've reviewed one at some point. It seemed to balance a little better than a 'Bird. As much as I loved it to look at, I just don't know if I will ever end up getting on with the "wing" getting in the way of my right arm when I am sat down with the bass. @eubassix I am intrigued by the example you are showing though.
  21. I’d contacted Malcolm as soon as I saw his post online. I’ve not heard back yet but I did see on Facebook that the basses have been found. Hopefully my suggestion (that was also echoed here in my situation) of contacting the UK CEO did the job! The story was pretty much exactly the same as mine.. all just a little bit too fishy if you ask me....
  22. I don't buy the E string mass either as I am used to playing up to a .190 gauge at times.
  23. Something doesn't sit well with me there. Especially as the bass has a flatter radius. I am expecting the pickup poles to be flat - what is the bass model? Are they MKI Bartolini pickups?
  24. Fixed it for you
