  1. The Nexus Tube head I recall was superb! Heavy, just like an SVT II or Mesa 400, but easily as lovely sounding! I also really liked the SL and SLS amplifiers and combos which have a pleasing tone and some clever features on board. 👍
  2. https://www.rcf.it/en_US/products/product-detail/nx-45-a/291491 RCF 745 in a less ugly box. I suspect the answer is no, but is there even the remotest chance that anyone has actually tried one? Literally zero video reviews!
  3. Would love to go to that.. sadly I wasn't aware of it.
  4. Sure, ok! For some reason I couldn't seem to get a sharp image on my profile picture.
  5. Me either! Just brilliant.
  6. That's odd. - I thought that would be big news. There seems to be an absence of a certain ornithological piece. A headline regarding mass awareness of a certain avian variety....

  8. Here's my response to another post: Try both and tell them I sent you.
  9. The Bird, Is the word..
  10. I was once asked to join a band with Danny Filth. I have the original demos on my computer still.
  11. How about installing EMG J pickups which have the same output level? Or you could buy a cheap EQ pedal to step in when you play the J bass. The beauty of which is that you can add some extra boost on those important MWAAAHHHHHH frequencies using an EQ pedal!
  12. I use that as a demonstration when I am teaching to level the playing field when my students are struggling and they think that I don’t understand what it feels like to be a beginner. It always ends in lots of laughter and me looking like a right plum!
  13. We’ll get in trouble for continuing that conversation lol lol... but in short, yes all of those things
  14. Actually I agree. Stick some decent cans on and you can hear modulation on the bass tone. At first, I thought it was Derek on keys playing in unison. He’s tighter than a tight thing playing and uses lots of mods on his keys tones... but if you listen to the bass notes at the very end there’s definitely a flange like effect going on in there. Interestingly I think I have the same on my Helix for one of the songs in one of my band sets.
  15. I think the silica gel route isn't such a bad one. I use a couple of punches in my IEMs case too and I also have a large pouch in my studio space that I just rest my IEMs on in between uses. No idea if it helps, but it makes for a nice little cushion for them to sit on ha ha ha!!!

    It’s the graphical representation of Cage’s 4’33”.
  17. Spot on sir! Thank you very much for taking the time to post a picture too!
  18. I'm having some new logos made and would like them to look splendid and lovely on this fine platform
  19. An oldie but a goodie.. BASS related
  20. Hmm, I'd start with lifting the amp out of the combo shell then checking out push on connectors or where wires go in to connectors. Do a tap test with a pencil or something that doesn't conduct to see if you get any crackles and bangs with the amp powered up. (you might need to insert an instrument lead in to the input. I work around components to see if I can find a dry joint or anything that moves the shouldn't ha ha! I'm having a guess at a power supply issue on board, but as the spider is a DSP based amp, (I'm pretty sure of that) there's probably not a lot that can be done about the preamp side of things - which I am guessing at if the controls don't seem to make a difference (no additional noise at all when cranked up). I worked in a school for a bit and I was absolutely gobsmacked at how students (not in my group I might add) systematically destroyed all of the guitar amplifiers over a term. Each week I would come back and find more parts missing or broken. Gutted but also very annoyed
  21. Ah yes the Ducati white is so nice! The combustion basses are exceptional value for money!
  22. I can see a well thought out EQ being useful for the likes of Helix users. Sure, I could set up an EQ on Helix for FOH and one for monitoring on stage utilising separate outputs. However this does lead to a couple of small issues. The first is having to replicate all of those settings across all patches. If you edit one patch you're going to have to edit the lot if your EQ settings have changed. The other I suppose is that you could be taking up valuable chain space and at a push, in stereo a EQ with many bands is said to take up processing power (in the manual I think). So for me, I think having the option of a powerful EQ on board the active speaker will mean that those EQ settings can stay the same and Helix wouldn't have to be adjusted as much.
  23. Thank you so much for the tag! It's true, I have been seriously lucky to have been able to review some pretty amazing Dingwall kit. Indeed it led me to buy my two (now one sadly due to extortionate bills). Fan Frets are dead easy to get used to and I do agree that the only thing I can think of that can be a bit of a stretch is if you are in to chordal work and are used to parallel fingerings. Everything else is a breeze, it just takes a little readjustment. I've seen youngsters handling a double bass, so the extended (37") scale length of the low B should be ok to adapt to. The only colour choice to go for is a flip paint finish. Soon, my current avatar logo is going to be updated to colour to match my favourite 'flip of choice'. Nearly all of my basses are flip paint. I just can't get enough of the stuff! *I can only apologise for the gratuitousness of these flip paint shots
  24. These cabinets are great sounding I have to agree. My attention is turned to your stand though! Is it a custom made top to hold the cabinet or did you buy it like that, if so do you have a link? Thank you in advance. p.s. I really want to try the 4x10 version of the cabinet for electric bass at some point.
  25. 😂
