  1. See this is why I love Basschat. Sir, that is a kind offer! Thank you, though I suspect I am miles from you along with the very kind gentleman who also offered up a demo of a pair of FR800's. I live in the butthole of England I think! Very much appreciated though.
  2. If anyone is interested I still have the Spotify playlist (in my signature) everyone can add their own fave songs to. It's seriously missing some great fretless bass and bass solos! Add away! EDIT: Oops, thats the link to the thread. Here's the Spotify Playlist for you all: http://open.spotify.com/user/onlinedood/playlist/6UkfcLnRafb95u7EnciaAU

  4. Last night at the rehearsal room I had no joy plugging my Helix directly in to the "bass amp" on offer. So I decided on the PA instead. It offered a much better tone given it's pair of 2x12 cabinets but still it was pretty puny after years of battering. Just think, rocking up with essentially a high powered, easy to carry, great sounding combo that will handle everything, even playing MP3's to help band mates learn the songs they should have before they rocked up to rehearsal I just need to have an opportunity to test drive the best offerings discussed in this thread and maybe those that haven't.
  5. Thank you so much! On the day, we set up the interview and David came up to the studio. The original plan was for me to follow my guide questions, but we got engrossed in to a really long conversation instead. So much so that we actually ran in to the allotted soundcheck time! I didn't open my pad once throughout the interview itself but we certainly talked about some really cool stuff! Frank's interview was also meant to be in the studio but due to timings we couldn't get back in. My notes being behind a locked door, I was told that I would quiz him in front of the awaiting audience instead. Which was nerve wracking. Frank, ever the gentleman was more than pleased just to, as you say, shoot the breeze and talk about his bass tone and what's important to him as a musician. I'd have to say that although the interviews were for a magazine, for me, it was an opportunity to reach out and do exactly as you've said. Two memories I hold dear.
  6. I interviewed Frank some years ago along with David Ellefson and I have to say that they are both super nice guys. Really down to earth and chatty. You'd be forgiven for thinking you were just hanging out with a fellow BassChatter. Frank even got me a beer.
  7. oh! And that IS my PJBS on the front of the MIR website!
  8. Norfolk:http://musicalinstrumentrehab.com https://www.facebook.com/Musical-Instrument-Rehab-167262633338121/ Mark Ball refinished both my Dingwall AB1 and my beloved Fender PJBS in an exemplary manner. Suffolk - Andrew Guyton http://www.guytonguitars.com https://www.facebook.com/Guyton-Guitars-201657545404/?ref=hl is also an incredible luthier who as you'll see is know for working on guitars of rock royalty. These two chaps are dear friends and I trust my guitars in their hands. The only time I wouldn't is if I were taking my Shukers all the way back to Sheffield to see Mr Shuker himself. Which, is a bit of a trek from Naaarwich!
  9. Here’s mine!
  10. I'm looking for another, exactly the same but with a rosewood board.
  11. What a beauty!!! Like you, I too have a 76 P - mine is a Matsumuko made Aria Pro II. It looks just the same. Ash and Maple. I've gutted and upgraded all of the electronics and hardware. The bit that astonished me is that I bought a new Fender USA pick guard and plopped it on my 42 year old 'copy' ... and the screw holes line up exactly! Hell, there are Fenders where that doesn't even happen ha ha ha! I love the bass, but I do plan to treat it to a fret job and a new nut. Oh and it sounds oh so good. Yours will too, that I promise when it's all hooked up, congratulations!!!
  12. The majority of my playing and recording is all done on the same 6 string bass, thank you for asking! 😂😂😂
  13. Nurse! Nurse!!!! Yeah that's a beauty!
  14. Today's favourite post award goes to!
  15. That's a radiator and no you can't have the fire extinguisher..
  16. No, you're absolutely fine. I've ran a 1KW head in to a 400W cabinet with zero problems for years. All you have to do is listen - and if it sounds bad, then that's the time to diagnose. That said, 250W heads are all good - you just have the option of getting a 500W should something cool appear on the second hand market.. and boy are there some nice offerings I would grab if I had the cash spare!
  17. I would be more than happy for someone to send me one, or of course the 745 model.. They might not get it back though!
  18. I feel like my aversion to the looks of the ART 7 models is being won over by the responses of how well they perform!
  19. heh heh, I was just quoting what someone else said on the thread about not using big heavy old stacks that I think made me chuckle several times. Bassists will thank you the world over.. Chiropractors will have to look elsewhere for clients
  20. A revoltion. You started a revolution. (But you did err "kill rock n' roll" ha ha)
  21. Yes, I had a quick look and was all..”oooh AC30!!”.. then.. “ooooh 5150!”.. paused at “Mesa!” Then had to drag myself away at Engl Savage ha!
  22. One of mine did the same and yes, I drilled out the middle and slid a rivet post through the middle. A quick fix to get me through as I think these are really good for the money.
  23. Just reading reviews and there's a suggestion that the HD32-A outperforms the Yamaha DXR15 for low end extension. The QSC, well that's the only one I've heard doing bass (and actually that was the 8.2 which sound great!) So maybe it's between the QSC and RCF.I think the 745's would probably be very good, but I.. just...
  24. Funnily it was only this afternoon I was looking at the 12.2 verses the Yamaha DXR15 online comparing the two. I rarely get a chance to leave the house to get to 'the stores' to try them out, so I was having a bit of a look at the details between them. Maybe to pick one over the other.
  25. Crickey I haven’t seen these vids in years! Still holds up amongst even the more recent play though videos from other YouTubers. Great player who I believe moved to the UK some years ago but no idea if Marta is still on these shores.
