  1. Woah, you're the first person to use an ART Levelar since I owned one about 25 years ago. I had no idea how to use a compressor in anger, nor did I really know the quality unit I had. Superb in my opinion. Great board mate!
  2. You certainly have a vast collection @stewblack... jealous!
  3. Back in my old life in South Africa, I had several impressions done, by 4 different companies, and not once was I asked if I sang or not, neither was I required to bite down on anything. But it does raise an interesting question on how the mouth's actions potential can affect the fit... when I smile on stage, I notice that I need to adjust my fit (hence me wanting new tips too I think) as they shift... and for bassists, shifts mean less bass and more noise bleed. I shall have to do a little Yahoo'ing... oh wait, it's 2024... let me use that new one, Google LOL (sorry, crap day at work, so a little laugh is needed)
  4. Nice - A tad for from me, but I will check in with The Hearing Hub, several branches in Essex (on the Snugs website )
  5. Yeah, to both the VTC and the pickups... I'd rather put some super warm Bartolinis in. I know what they sound like and I like what they sound like. Or perhaps start playing flats hahahaha
  6. Quick question for you all... Who here has upgraded their MetroExpress with the VTC circuit, and how much of an improvement is it really? My bog standard eq is all flat and both pickups are on full. How much "more" will the VTC bring to the party? Thanks, as always... Julian aka Glassmoon
  7. Sheesh - that's giving it away!!! I love mine... I have it attached to my mic stand and with a 5m 3.5mm male to female, to my strap and to my IEMs - it sounds terrific - and I've used Avioms before!!!
  8. So mine arrived this past week, and although I've only had a very brief time in which to play around with it, here are my thoughts and impressions. Context: I wanted this for my older model, Ibanez btb556. Great bass, weak preamp. Instead of dropping £200 on a quality preamp, I thought this would be an option. Sound: Within a few seconds, I was able to get a really big sound. Very warm and rounded (which I wanted). I left the treble at 12 o'clock, boosted the bass a bit, boosted the mods a bit, with the mid frequency probably in the 200-250 range. The sound was not immediately reminiscent of the OG TH, but to be honest, that was several years ago, so I am basing my comparison on the Tone Hammer plugin, and it's veeeeeeery close. I can honestly say the sound is very good. AGS: I never used this on the original as the volume disparity was too great for live usage, but DemonFX seem to have closed the gap to make this a possible live usage pedal. To my memory, the OG was a bit harsh too, while the DFX seems to be a little smoother to my ears. Win. Conclusions: This pedal is quiet. I wasn't sure if I was expecting noise or not, but there is not a crack nor hiss to be found. As a preamp, it does all I could've hoped for, and more. The drive circuit is more user friendly than expected. It's built like a tank. And for £60 shipped to my door in 3 days (not 100% sure of the AliExpress route just yet on anything more than a scratch plate or knobs) it's a win price-wise. I know the argument prevails that this is as blatant a rip-off of the Aguilar pedal, and make no mistake, it absolutely is (without it being green), but for the price-conscientious (like me) it's a great opportunity to experience the Aguilar sound. And hey, both are made in China and who knows, possibly in the same facility... Anyhow, I hope that helps. Julian aka Glassmoon
  9. You don't really need more, do you!!!
  10. Now that would make my day! Well, that and a double cheese and bacon burger
  11. I am sooooooooooo tempted. I owned an Aguilar TH for a while and loved it. Still bummed that I let it go - and still trying to remember what brain fart led to that decision! And the fact that for £9 more, I can get it in the UK and not have the fear of it never arriving from AliExpress world (I've heard horror stories). Having said that... I'd really love to see a video or hear a demo of this one... and A/B would be perfect.
  12. Mine I got in South Africa in 2015, and they're basically modeled on the Westone brand. So quality for sure, but I'm looking into replacing the tips (based on the advice that my ears are no longer the same shape) and taking advantage of the low end I've lost a bit of. The cost factor is significant when you're not earning oodles, but I guess quality has its price.
  13. Question for the group.... I live in Harlow, Essex... Anyone know who does custom molds? I have custom tips but I am now keen to get the unit disassembled and refitted to a full enclosed casing. Better fit and better sound isolation (cos the bloody guitarist insists on turning up all the time). I need a quick turn around too, as we gig just about every weekend. London, Essex, Hertfordshire and surrounds I guess... Thanks in advance Julian aka Glassmoon
  14. Hi all Maybe a daft question, but what pedal toppers/buttons (those things) for a Zoom MS-60B? I have a packet of the kind that fit my EBS and TC Electronic stuff, but not the zoom. I've checked out these at Amazon, just not sure if they will work... Any here with Zoom gear - if you use these buttons, which ones? Thanks in advance... Julian aka Glassmoon
  15. Question for you @grapefruitmoon: how do you find having the pre-amp at the end of the chain? I've always had mine at the start, so interested to know how the various effects/patches play off against the pre. Ta!
  16. Would you be able to define "faulty" please?
  17. Cheers mate - I'm leaning towards that actually
  18. Hey @BigRedX Well, that is my thinking too... I've never used one before when I have used IEMS. I never knew what the desk guys added, but it wasn't coming from me at all. The EBS is my pre-amp and my de facto tone. From what I hear, the IRL is just to emulate a cab - or an amp and a cab. I guess, is it that important to have that running? I dunno. I like my Ashdown rig... not sure I'd want whatever was available.. or make my own (gosh knows how I'd even go about thinking of starting that exercise). So, the pedal is there for my use... but how will I even test it, other than at a rehearsal or live? I guess having it for free, and the possibility that it makes my bass sound warmer, is a plus.. but is putting it in the FX loop, after the FX, a good/bad/clever/dumbass thing to do? Anyway - thanks for responding
  19. Anyone? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeez?
