Keep at it! dont give up! Maybe after a few months, you could try jam with some other beginners. Thats what i did, and it really did help. infact, we're all still together as a band! Hope it all goes well! and get some photo's up! It always makes things more interesting! hehe
Get an Aguilar db112 with a tweeter and put them in a vertical stack with the db112NT below Hamster
hmmm, i might have to do that if things dont work out on saturday. I'l have to start saving again...
What amp are you driving it with? and what bass do you use? Most modern speakers be it 8, 10, 12 or 15 will be able to reproduce a very bright sound without the additional tweeter, so have a play around with EQ and maybe some new strings. Tweeters add a sort of "sparkle" or "sheen" to the sound which to some equates to unwanted fret or finger noise!
Im using an ashdown evo 500, with a fender jazz. Im still trying to get the right EQ's with the ashdown, which is a nightmare to sort out (combination of sliders and knobs). This weekend however, im definetly going to sit and try play with the EQ's. Ohh! good idea about the strings, these strings are pretty old now!

well i just got my hands on an aguilar db112NT, and its brillant i think in the low end, but i have a feeling it lacks in the high end. Im going to wait till saturday when im at the rehersal studio, so i can properly play about with it. hmm...im thinking maybe i should have got the verison with a tweeter... ....
I do recommend that you check that the fans are both functioning correctly. Fan failure can lead to epensive repairs.
thanks for the heads up! Im pretty sure the fans are ok....for now...

I was wondering what is a tweeter, why do you need a tweeter? and will a 12'' speaker be high enough? I dont do slapping or popin etc, just the occasional high notes. I know im being pretty general, but I have no clue about techniqual/or equipment sides of things.# help much appriciated! MrHectic

These marks can be easily wiped off and replaced as your settings evolve or permanently when it comes to sell.
sorry to overtake your thread, but im just curious at to what setting you have your ashdown ABM 500 on Ou7shined? I have an ashdown 500, and am still messing with the EQ. Its a funny EQ on the ashdown 500, with the mix of sliders and knobs.

I just clean by bass with dunlop guitar polish. Its the only stuff my local guitar shop sell. I never used anything else so I cant really say if its the best/compared, but it seem to do the trick for me!

I play a fender american jazz. Its a great bass, alot of power behind it compared to my yamaha. my first bass is a yamaha rbx270. its a great bass for the price, and ideal for a beginner. But somethings gone wrong with the electronics in mine, so its just gathering dust. I'l always keep it though since its my first bass! sentamental value lol.
