Still deliberating over whether to or not. .140? I haven't felt the need for a heavier B but I may have an unused 135 kicking around. Did you find a noticeable difference with it?
-
I'm quite taken with the platinum San Dimas P/J five string. BAX Music are offering it at a tempting price but I keep telling myself I don't need another five.
-
Which one do you have? I've started playing mine again a bit more this last week or so. It has one of the easiest five string neck shapes to get along with imo.

I don't play it so much at the moment but I still have it

I also used to own a different pair of Ray 35's - honeyburst and black cherryburst And a rare Lavender Pearl Stingray 5 from 1999 iirc

Do Ray 35s count?
-
I now have a pair of these. An older Ray35 with the headstock that says that and a vintage sunburst with a roasted maple neck that says Stingray5 on the headstock. Both excellent basses imo. I've owned a few Stingray 5s in the past and these Ray35s are close enough to make me feel I'm not missing out. What gets me is that the s/h USA prices have pretty much doubled from when I last owned a full fat one. Used Ray 35 prices are do-able but the prices new are a now a bit crazy though.

Harley Benton MV-4M Mustang-like bass. £198. Opinions?

This looks ace. Think I've just found the colour of the MV J/J jazz bass if I go for one (which is near enough a certainty if my thoughts on the MV P/J are anything to go by) -
My Sabre Classic necks (all gloss and fairly heavily figured)don't really move and seem stable. Conversely, the unfinished MM necks I have had in the past have needed adjusted periodically.
-
Couldn't agree more. I put flats on it early today and ended up playing it most of the afternoon.

This arrived late this afternoon, bought as a B stock item for £167. Even took the liberty of paying it over 3 months with paypal. Gave it a thorough look over, set up and play and all I can think of is that some of the fret ends were rough. Since fixed that and I have to say I am hugely impressed with this much bass for so little money.

What happened to your J/J five string? Lovely bass btw. I'm hoping to buy the pearl platinum P/J five string as a back up/alternative to my J/J five at some point
-
There. Fixed it for you

What bass is that Mick? Looks fantastic😍

Looks lovely with both plates. I had a 2EQ teal many years ago. Put a status replacement neck on it too. Loved that bass and another one that gives me sellers regret.
-
Love both those basses. Miss my USA Dimension 5. It was up there with a StingRay 5 for just about everything.
-
Was thinking why not swap necks and have a fretted stingray as well as a Sabre to take out with the band. So that's what I've done (for now) Really pleased with how they play. The sunburst and Sledge Sabres had a neck swap at the same time too

You putting the neck humbucker where Musicman has it? I always thought it didn't leave much of a space between the pickup and edge of fingerboard. It was my main criticism of both Bongo HH and HS models I've owned in the past. I always liked the Corvette $$ spacing but guess you're going to have a narrower variation of tone with the pickups closer together.

Teal is a really hard colour to photograph. The green element never really shows. Looks more blue in the pics than it really is
