  1. Serial number says it was built April 1994. Is like it's time warped forward twenty five years, barely a blemish on it. Band practice cancelled this evening so time to play with new toys instead!
  2. I'm very taken with my Ray35 which is one of the newer ones with the roasted neck. I've owned a few USA StingRay 5s in the past and of course I'd like another but prices have gone a bit crazy used (double what I used to buy them at) I'm happy with the Ray35. Tonally its spot on and the neck elevates the bass imo. From experience owning four Ray35 basses, I'd say they're worth the extra but that's if you can get one at the lower end of the scale. Reason being, imo the one to get for not much more than SUB/Ray5 s/h is the Ray25 which is based on the Classic two band EQ, slab bodied traditional Stingray shape with the oval pickguard. The pickup and bridge are a big upgrade on the Ray 5. In fact I probably dislike the Ray 5 simply because of the bridge. It doesn't look good imo and I cant get by that no matter how hard I try.   3. Will do. I once owned a 2EQ honeyburst StingRay fretless which went to Schnozalee from this parish many moons ago. And have seen yours. Its one of the basses that has fuelled my ongoing fretless StingRay GAS! Will be interesting to see how it stacks up against my USA JB-2 fretless, hopefully both sufficiently different to warrant keeping them both. Have to justify owning them both now by making sure I put (a lot more) time in on the unlined boards.
  4. Couldn't resist it and caved in as soon as I saw it. I've been looking for a combination of these features for a while (teal/ fretless musicman/ old style bridge) Looks to be in great nick for a 30 year old bass.

  6. I have the same but in candy apple red. The DiMarzios sound great and together with all the other neat touches you mentioned - roasted neck with really comfy profile, luminlay dots, hi mass bridge, light weight etc make these hard to beat at their price point imo. Something of note too is the quality of finish on these. There is a deep lustre to the paint which makes the colours really pop imo. I did consider selling mine (too many basses) but then withdrew it. I now keep looking at the pearl platinum P/J 5 string they now do. GLWTS!

  8. I'm the same with the Sabres though I am looking at a StingRay Special as my next MusicMan hopefully. My sunburst Sabre is now wearing flats with the mutes doing their thing. On the P bass setting it sounds great so that bass is staying that way.
  9. Swapped out the neck on two of my Sabres. Sledge is wearing a new pickguards.com black abalone guard as well as the maple neck. The natural is now the same as the Sabre I owned for a while and then stupidly sold a long,long time ago. Probably keep them like this for a while...
  10. I've had this WD aged pearloid guard on all three of my Sabres but I just bought a black abalone one and now looking to buy a tortoise shell one too. Would swap for a tort in the unlikely event you have one of those. Guard is in excellent condition with no issues. Price includes postage

  14. Lovely looking Jazz in one of my favourite colour combos! As I said before, I think one of these professional series USA Jazz basses would be a keeper. Just for me the wrong time for it to come up for sale 😔 GLWTS!

Possibly a bit of a long shot, definitely a bit particular, but I'm looking for a Sterling Ray 35 preferably in the natural finish with maple neck or one of the newer ones with the roasted neck as back up for my sunburst/roasted maple Ray 35. Must be in excellent condition with no issues. San Dimas is mint condition. Roasted maple neck. DiMarzio J pickups, active 3 band EQ, active/passive on volume pot, hi mass bridge. Really nice player, very light too.

I have gigged it a few times in the fairly short while I've had it and it performed flawlessly. However need to thin the herd/ free up some cash. Audition/pick up from Market Drayton.   18. I've already said it on the Sabre page on FB but congratulations on picking up such a great looking Classic Sabre. I love my natural/maple Sabre - such a timeless combo. The blue StingRay you're talking about. I'm thinking it's in the 90s blueburst colour. One of the best finishes they ever did imo Keir
  19. Had mine for eighteen months and it's such a great bit of kit. Thing with the Odyssey is it was THE lead synth in so many genres. For me it was the John Foxx Metamatic album and Billy Currie from Ultravox! when they had an exclamation mark in their name. I worked out that by slaving osc 2 to osc 1 then wiggling the osc2 S/H and adding portamemto and pitch bend, I could imitate him (without any of the talent) I have no room left so went back to soft synths and mores the pity. This and your 2600 (I had that too) are both epic GLWTS! Keir

  21. Definitely! such a versatile bass. the last couple of gigs I've started using the middle setting with both pickups on. It's like that hollow 2 pick up Jazz bass tone but on steroids. Fills out everything underneath nicely. That and the P bass setting using the bridge facing single coil on the neck humbucker. The almost StingRay bridge humbucker tone and the 'Lakland' humbucker + neck single coil still get a look in but it's the other two for now. I find the inbetween positions more practically useful than those on the Fender Dimension HH and StingRay HH, as nice as those both are.
  22. My most favourite bass and If I hadn't got another just last week I would be after this one. Mayan Silver/tort/ rosewood makes for a great looking Sabre imo GLWTS! Keir
