  1. The tuners have never been the same quality as the USA ones afaik. They do the job though.
  2. I had a couple of Ray 35s - a sunburst Made in Korea one from 2011 and the other, a black cherryburst made in Indonesia in 2016. The earlier Korean one had an ash body and a thin gloss coat on the neck whereas the other was mahogany with a satin finished neck. Both were very similar in feel though the Indonesian was a bit lighter. I also had a Ray34CA which had the 2EQ preamp and slab body and was made in Indonesia and that one one was imo a higher build quality than the two five strings. The one I had was every bit as good as the Classic StingRay that replaced it, save for the fancier woods. It was in some ways a better fit for me (Jazz profile neck). A Stingray with a J neck is a great combination imo. This year I had a Ray34HH, again from Indonesia and the quality was up there. Roasted neck was lovely and in retrospect I should have kept it. Not too sure that the electronics and hardware have changed much. They all sounded like StingRays to my cloth ears though I liked the 2EQ of the CA Classic Active best of all.
  3. I like Jazz basses. Always have done. On a G&L I always preferred the #8 (1.5” nut) jazz profile neck and it’s the same with MusicMan in that the USA Sterling has my favourite neck shape in their range. right now I have a Valenti, two G&L JB2s and two Sire V3s
  4. *withdrawn* * Price is a trade value only as looking to trade* bought from Embra on here at the start of April, this is a lovely fretless and a really nice example of the now discontinued USA JB-2 bass. Alder body finished in two tone sunburst with unlined ebony fingerboard. G&L Alnico single coils with passive VVT. G&L Saddle lock bridge and G&L branded tuners. Comes with Fender gig bag. Bass is strung with flat wounds at the moment and sounds and plays great. I just don’t get enough time to practice fretless so looking to trade for a nice fretted 4 string from G&L, MusicMan, Fender, Sandberg, Warwick, Lakland etc. cash either way depending on what is offered.
  5. I guess there’s hope MusicMan will re-start the Sterling in its original or maybe a revised Special version, in that it’s still showing on their instruments pages. The Classic StingRays have disappeared from the EBMM online site completely.
  6. A heads up for those with a soft spot for the Sabre, that I just started a MusicMan Sabre Appreciation page on FB a few days ago. It’s in no way meant to be an exhaustive resource on the bass, more just a place for existing fans and those curious/looking to buy a Sabre to get info, post pics, tell their stories etc. The page is for all versions of the Sabre as well as the Cutlass II. https://www.facebook.com/groups/406658267997398/ Hope to see some of you there! Keir
  7. I play bass in an 80s electronic covers band and I have a couple of synths I use with them. One is a Waldorf Streichfett for string synth sounds but my main one is a Novation Xio49 virtual analogue 4 octave synth with 200 presets and on board FX to cover everything else (mainly bass) I had two but let one go which I now regret and I’m keeping my eyes out for another) I really like the sounds from the Xio. Sounds way better than anything else I’ve come across for anything near to the price (I picked up both my Xio49 synths for under £100)
  8. Mike bought my Korg SQ64 sequencer. Really easy deal and a credit to Basschat! Keir
  9. Dave bought my Yamaha Sessioncake headphone amp. Great guy to deal with, highly recommended! Keir
  10. Rich bought my Caline Bass EQ pedal. Paid straight away and easy deal. Would be happy to buy, sell or trade with Rich in the future. Highly recommended! Keir
  11. G&L JB-2 fretless in 2-tone sunburst with ebony board.
  12. The red is lush. Not normally a fan of matching headstock with a maple board but that is one gorgeous looking StingRay.
  13. Never really used. Put Velcro on it and had it ready to go on my pedalboard but change of plan resulted in it being put back in box £20 + £3 postage paypal fine
  14. Zoom RFX-1000 multi FX Comes with PSU £40 Behringer Multicom Pro XL compressor/gate £40 qtx Q240 240w@4ohms power amp Boxed with manual £50 £125 for all three and will include 19” Stagg rack stand for free.

If only I had the money Gerry. Probably abstaining now for the rest of the year after picking up another MM Sabre, the USA JB-2 fretless and back up Sire V3 all in the one week🙂
  16. Necks swapped back to how they were but pearloid guard from the Sledge now on the 3TS as I’m ordering a WD black abalone guard for the Sledge.
  17. Both pedals mint condition, boxed with instruction card. 5th dimension has Velcro on bottom. 5th dimension has eleven modulation fx including chorus, flanger, phaser, tremolo, vibrato, auto wah, ring modulator etc sonic ambience has separate controls for delay and reverb. Four delay and four reverb types. £22 each postage will be £3
  18. Thanks Graham much appreciated as you’ve seen and noodled on the Valenti in person. Keir
  19. thank you those who expressed an interest in the Valenti. Now withdrawn! Made by Nino Valenti, NYC, USA. This bass is #146, as per the title and headstock facing, and the weight is 8.5lbs. Body is swamp ash with trans white finish, bound maple neck with pearloid blocks, Aguilar pickups and Sadowsky preamp with VTC vintage tone control. Hardware is Hipshot bridge and tuners, Superb player. Owned by me the last eighteen months and while I do love this Valenti, I currently have five jazz basses! Tentative feeler looking for a possible trade, first choice would be something by MusicMan eg Cutlass, Caprice, Sterling or StingRay. A Warwick Streamer Stage 1 would float my boat too. Maybe an extra special G&L (sparkle finish/flame top etc) Other basses considered too but please don’t be offended if they’re not something I’m into. Nothing with a 1.75” nut width I prefer rosewood or ebony boards to maple though not a deal breaker. Lastly I’m going to leave the ad up for a bit to see what’s out there. Thanks for looking! Keir
  20. Will bought a couple of basses from me and was a great guy to deal with. Both times he paid in advance and was really easy to deal with throughout. Didn’t meet Will in person but his mate came round to pick them up and he ended up sitting an hour chatting about basses, synths etc over a cup of tea. I hope to return the favour sometime and buy a bass from him. The last couple I enquired about had just sold. Keir
  21. Great price for a really lovely L-2000. I’ll message someone who I know is after one of these. Keir
  22. Bought during this past week from Embra of this parish, this JB-2 is a peach of a fretless.
