Bought a USA G&L JB-2 fretless from James which arrived today and is as described and perfect in every way for me. Fantastic instrument which plays wonderfully. the whole transaction was painless and James was a great guy to deal with. Very helpful and got it to me bang on time for my days off work. If you’re buying, selling or trading with James then do so with the utmost confidence. many thanks James Keir

American Original P bass vs. Stingray Special video
dub_junkie replied to Vanheusen77's topic in Bass Guitars
Prefer the StingRay when played finger style and slap. That being said the P bass didn’t sound worse just different and I’d be happy with either tone. Precision sounds better with the pick imo -
I couldn’t wait so swapped them last night and set them up so they’re both playing just how I like them. Overall I’m much happier with the look of both, just need a tort plate for the sunburst now.

I played a pair of Tribute JB-2s with my last band over USA MusicMan,G&L and Fender basses which mostly sat in their cases. Same with an Overwater Tanglewood Aspiration Elite which was so good I didn’t play my Fender Dimension Deluxe 5 or G&L L-5500 (both USA) nearly as much as I should have. I would think Sire basses are getting a lot of playtime over much more expensive basses within players’ collections too for much the same reason that a good bass is a good bass at any price. Keir

Bought this Sledge Sabre today which I’m going to alternate with my sunburst/maple Classic Sabre for upcoming band work. I’m thinking of a neck swap too and going sunburst with rosewood and maple with grey. Leaning towards that but will give it a few days playing them as they are first before deciding. Keir

I just bought Eldon’s MusicMan Classic Sabre this lunchtime and after the bass was packed up, we had a chat about our largely similar tastes in bass guitars. Eldon’s been a great guy throughout and held the bass a few weeks for me to raise the funds for it. Great comms, super helpful and a really friendly chap in person. would be happy to buy/sell/trade with Eldon any time in the future. thanks again Eldon. This bass is fantastic and thankfully mine at long last! Keir

Jazz bass - passive or active?? Sire V7 owners thoughts are wlecome...
dub_junkie replied to carlsim's topic in Bass Guitars
I’m a big fan of the Sadowsky preamp with VTC on my Valenti Jazz. I like it so much I bought the SPB-2 preamp pedal for my passive G&L JB-2. The only thing I couldn’t get on with is was the pan control being pre-wired back to front. I understand why they do it just can’t get my head round it when playing so that was swapped back. As a side note I just ordered a second Sire V3 second gen. Was going to post up and ask about the relative merits of the V3 versus V7 but after buying my first V3 unseen, when I played it with the rounded over fingerboard edges, I thought that’s good enough for me! Fit and finish is excellent too and I like the preamp as well. Don’t really adjust it much though - only the pan control mainly Keir -

Brand new. Taken out of box once. Not going to be used now as not enough time in the day, week or year! Controls three CV/Gate and/or midi synths + rhythm track at the same time. Too many features to list. Boxes with instruction manual and USB cable had it up for £175 on marketplace groups the last few days. Now £155 + postage

Love this synth but an expensive, impending and inspired purchase means some money has to go back into the savings pot. full metal chassis, onboard sequencer, Klark Teknik FX unit, faithful clone of the Odyssey sound. Quality bit of kit that sounds brilliant. Odyssey is mint, boxed with manual, soft cover and psu Not looking for trades but could be swayed by a Sire V7 or P7 thanks for looking Keir

G&L Tribute JB-2 Same body shape as the L-2000, Jazz profile neck. G&L saddle lock bridge, 2 x Alnico J pickup with vol, vol, tone. Bought new around seven weeks ago. I have spent a fair bit of time on this bass, giving it a lot of TLC including set up, as well as softening the fingerboard edges with wire wool and also re-cutting the nut slots for a nice low action at the first fret. No structural or cosmetic issues with the bass other than that there are a few small file marks by a few of the frets when they were dressed at the factory. Bass plays great with a nice low action. £250 Bass can be auditioned in Market Drayton in Shropshire/Staffs borders. Could travel within reason for a meet or alternatively can possibly post if buyer arranges their own service and level of cover.

Graham came down to my place at lunchtime today and bought my Tribute five string. Sat and had a good natter about basses amongst a great many other things. Turns out we’re going on holiday to the same destination this year around the same time - hope we can meet for a pint🍺 or two 🍻 😁😎 real credit to Basschat - top fella. Deal with absolute confidence Keir

*SOLD* A hugely unexpected sudden change of plans (ie gear fund tokens being diverted elsewhere) means that this lovely M-2500 needs to make way for a back up/alternative four string for gigging duties. For trades I’m ideally looking for a Sire V3 or G&L Tribute JB-2 4 string plus cash but will consider other models too. The M-2500 is in fantastic condition. Honeyburst over swamp ash body, two MFD humbuckers with 18v 3EQ active circuit. Different flavour to the L series basses. Sounds smoother for want of a better description. Easier to navigate too without the toggle switches. can drive up to an hour for a meet up may be able to pack up for posting if buyer uses their own preferred service and level of cover etc cheers Keir

Bought an Eden WTDI preamp pedal from Tobie. Arrived in top Nick, as described and super quick. Tobie is a great guy to deal with and went the extra bit to make sure the sale went smoothly. Thoroughly recommended! cheers Keir
