Met Rory today at services just outside Coventry and traded basses. Had a good chat with him mostly me going on about my new love in with analogue/modular synthesisers which he knows a lot more about than I do. Really friendly fella and the bass he traded (lovely Fender 50s Classic Precision) was as exactly as described. I would definitely trade/deal with Rory again and anyone should deal with him in complete confidence. A credit to the forum! Keir

Nice! You can’t go wrong with either that bass or the colour/fingerboard combo imo🙂

I have a USA Classic Sabre and as much as I like it, it’s got a chunkier neck profile than the 1990 EB Sabre I owned in the nineties. It’s also heavier and doesn’t feel as sleek as what I remember my old one to be. I’m currently thinking of putting a Status replacement neck and hipshot ultralites on it to address some of the niggles I have with the bass.

The Ray 34CA was another notch up from the regular model imo. They’ve been discontinued for a few years now and prices have crept up a fair bit I sold mine to get a Classic Stingray but in hindsight there was very little in it other than the better (prettier?) woods used. My CA had the surf green finish with a tinted maple neck and a lovely, warm and very musical sounding 2EQ circuit. It didn’t go really clicky on the top end which was something I always liked about it. As well as this, It also ticked the Jazz bass profile neck on a MusicMan which I like too.

Lakland USA 44-64 PJ with 1.5” nut - *SOLD*
dub_junkie replied to Quatschmacher's topic in Basses For Sale
I easy played this as long as the Skyline Jazz I went to buy! At the time I was one of the unwashed when it came to Lakland, having never really played them before. So to play the skyline which was a great bass in its own right and then to have Peter tell me I could have a try of his USA Lakland P/J, well I was blown away by how good this bass felt, played and sounded. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the skyline I bought that day but I still remember just how lush this bass was. GLWTS! -

*On hold trade pending* 1995 Corvette Standard with bubinga body and wenge neck and fingerboard with bell brass frets. MEC dynamic correction J single coils with passive electronics (vol/pan/tone)2 piece Warwick bridge and the original brass just a nut with the individual threaded saddles as well as recessed straplocks. Bass comes with the Warwick rockbag and straplocks. The truss rod cover on the bass says Corvette Proline which I’m guessing is the wrong cover as this bass fits the spec of a standard. Wenge neck is in great condition and doesn’t have the volute at the neck where the neck meets the headstock. plays and sounds superb, been incredibly well looked after for its twenty six years Bass can be auditioned in Market Drayton, Shropshire or can drive up to an hour to meet etc. Would post if buyer arranges their own courier, level of cover etc. £695

Always liked ou7shined’s posts. Had the privilege of meeting him at the Moffat bass bash way way back (2009?) haven’t seen him on here for years bigbeefchief - that name takes me back - in a non bass more off topic sort of way. Liked his posts too. Genuinely funny guy imo

That colour is amazing. Seen a few of those on talk bass selling fast. Reminds me of the trans blueburst maple necked Sabre hanging in one of the Glasgow music shops about twenty five years ago. I still think of that as one that got away. dr T’s Neptune blue is another blue Sabre that looks lush. black sabres always look great too.

Extremely🙂 saw yours which is lovely looking btw. Love the sledge finish but probably more for the rosewood board. I wanted rosewood on mine when I was looking but there was none about at the time. Still none about now lol anyway no complaints, it’s such a sweet bass with some great settings on the 5 way.

My Classic Sabre

My passive Corvette Standards The honey violin ash 4 string has an ovankol neck and the bubinga(?) 5 has a wenge neck without volute and the original just a nut. It’s also got a truss rod cover that reads ‘Corvette Proline’ possibly a mix up or mistake at the factory? Quite a change from the earlier 5 to the 4 in the contouring etc……. Really taken with both. Especially the passive growl and the necks/playability of both which are really fantastic.

Met with Roon in Manchester and sold him my gorgeous Warwick Thumb Dirty Blonde. Great guy to deal with and a credit to this forum. Just a shame we didn’t have longer to sit, have a pint and talk basses. Roon knows his stuff and it was a pleasure meeting him and making the sale. The Thumb is going to a good home🙂all the best Roon, I hope it serves you well!

*NOW SOLD* Warwick Thumb ‘06 Limited Edition Dirty Blonde in near immaculate condition. Traded at the start of October but as beautiful as it is, I just prefer Streamers. Extremely light (sorry will get weight up later) and great player with no structural, electronics or playability issues. Comes with Warwick owners kit and certificate of authenticity. Bass is signed by Hans Peter Wilfer on the back of the headstock and has an inlayed numbered plaque as well. Comes with gig bag. Main features are poplar burl top over swamp ash body, flame maple three piece neck with ebony fretboard with bell brass frets and abalone gull inlays. Matching headstock, black hardware, just-a-nut, MEC twin J and split P pickups with MEC three band EQ and active/passive and coil split for the twin J on push/pulls. trade up the way for a natural or stain finish Streamer Stage 1 or a Stage 2 if I can stretch to that. Would also trade for a Stingray in good condition with a rosewood board and no issues. other partial trades considered (cash either way) bass can be auditioned just outside Market Drayton, Shropshire or can possibly meet fairly local. thanks for looking! No love for the JB-2 ? my personal favourite. Elegant, uncluttered look with warm Jazz bass tones. Great workhorse basses. I had two and used them for a while with my band despite having more expensive basses that could have filled the same role.
