Believe some of the issues were with the black tuners on the purple sparkle Ray34/5 and stiff truss rods on some? Neither is a really good look on a company like MusicMan. From my own experience, and I've had six Ray35 basses and a Ray34CA, I've found them to really good. The last one, a natural Ray35 with the roasted neck was impressively put together and played fantastically well. A purple SBMM Bongo 5 would interest me as long as the tuners didn't eat themselves when turned and the truss rod worked. Think I'd get on okay with the 2EQ as I was forever fiddling with the high and low mids on the full fat ones. Used to drive me mad!

Love the bass but the quad coils arent my favourite part of it. They're really good n all but is it really shallow of me to think that if I ever scored another Lionheart Air I'd maybe want to put some multicoil pickups in both positions alongside a filter based preamp? (not that I'd be trying to recreate anything else you understand) The bass plays phenomenally well, effortlessly in fact. Action can be got down to stupid low without notes choking off etc There's a lot of nice touches on the bass and the overriding feeling I get with it is "why on earth didnt I spec and order a couple of five strings when I had the chance?"😂😂

Wondering if there's any love on here for this sadly (imo) discontinued brand. I was close to ordering once just as they stopped taking orders but I picked up a Lionheart Air around six weeks ago and I'm fair taken with it.

Just noticed that this is going to be a thing. 2EQ instead of 4 bands of constant fiddling with. The purple looks great imo

Some ogle-worthy pics of the bass I just let go - Graft J Type with vintage burst oil finish. Only weighed 3.8kg or thereabouts. Superb bass I got from vmaxblues who bought it new.

You sir, have a keen eye 🙂 It's a beautiful top wood and the bass is fantastic. A really wonderful instrument.

Took a pic of my ACGs before the sunburst Graft 5 was boxed up ready for sending to its new owner.

Amazing! They're all superb😍

The 55-02 that Paddy was selling? Yes I got that in June and it's since become my main gigging bass. Planning to share the love between it and the blueburst StingRay.

And mine. Finally after 30 years I've got the bass I used to gig with all those years ago but sold when I moved to Australia (not the exact one but the same) I did have four including the two Specials above but those and an '05 have been traded away as this blueburst is the only one I want to pick up. This bass has calmed my GAS down a lot 😁 The Specials are fantastic. I'm not going to knock anything about them but I guess I just like the old contours and signature clanky treble

Finally managed to source an all maple neck for my '94 blueburst.

Diamond blue Cutlass

16.5mm (which I don't mind/in fact quite like on this bass)

Thanks. Traded away my pharaoh gold/rosewood wunkay three years ago and missed it so when I got the heads up on this from Paddy I didn't want to miss out

this one? I bought it yesterday with help from Paddy777

Yes passive which suits it brilliantly imo

Great looking bass. The figuring on the fretboard is insane!😍

,I had a Tribute M2500 which was smoother and a bit more bright sounding than any two pickup L series/Asat bass I owned. I think there are so many other options out there with two pickups and 3 band EQ. G&L have a well thought out, original and familiar concept with the L series. If I was shelling out money on Fullerton made G&L it would be a L-2500. I'm not saying the M-2500 isn't a valid option but if it was selling it would still be in the line up. I really like the USA JB-2 (discontinued) I think they did make 5 string JB-2s and iirc the active equivalent was the MJ-5. They always seemed really thin on the ground when I was looking. The JB-5 Fender Jazz derivative... I'm not sure about this one but I'd probably love it if I owned one. Kiloton 5 - I owned a 4 and liked the different tones off the single pickup. Being passive it doesn't have rather nails down blackboard treble of the older L-1500/1505. Another 5 is the L-5500 which was only made for a year or so before the L2500 was ready. The L-5500 had EMG pickups and preamp and a 4+1 headstock. Those are an aquired taste. I owned two and kind of miss them. I hope your three serve you well. I don't have a G&L at the moment and feel poorer for it. Keir

Lovely! Tort plate with that finish and black pickup covers every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

That looks lush 😍😍 I had a Tribute M2500 which I really liked but not long afterwards I had to sell it on here as part of a cull to get a bass I coveted a while.
