Your blue swirl look great. Mine in see thru red looks a bit more conservative though no less lovely. As said before, I think my L5500 sounds more like my Spector Euros I used to own than any other G&L I’ve owned and/or played. Don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing and I don’t really understand some of the negative comments about the pickups/EQ on this model. The MFD pickups aren’t always the best fit for any genre and are not to everyone’s tastes either though I suppose they are the signature G&L sound. Each to their own I guess. Just realised I have three G&Ls and not one has MFD pickups. Enjoy your L-5500🙂

As an active, five string version of the full fat USA JB-2 basses I think they look bang on the money and no doubt sound and feel fantastic too. Was it the blue one with the empress body? Only thing I can guess at re the MJ-5 is that it likely wasn’t selling given that most G&L five strings ordered will be L-2500 or JB-5 models. I see that the passive JB-2 bass is discontinued from the USA line too after over twenty years or so in production. Still love the Tribute versions of those and will buy another soon! Incidentally I exchanged a couple of emails too with another basschatter today about another seemingly unloved and forgotten G&L five string - the L-5500. He just picked one up, his is a ‘95 and mine is a ‘96. Not for everyone with EMG pickups and preamp but a seriously well made G&L with its own vibe. Definitely good to have something familiar yet little known and/or under appreciated imo Keir

No complaints from me on how an MM or P sounds for slap. though have always preferred the tone of a J/J bass with both pickups on for that style of playing.

I know Cort may not be the usual fayre in Gear Porn but this one for sure is a looker. (quality right up there too) Introducing my recently acquired flame maple top Cort GB94 with the Seymour Duncan Basslines MM/J pups and Basslines BEQ-3 three band EQ. I’ve been after one of these for a while, flame or spalted top - wasn’t fussed. pictured below with my GB75JH five string and GB99F sunburst J/J four.

Hi Si, I use the LB100 as my workhorse P bass (I also have a MM Cutlass though that is rather stupidly rarely taken out of the case🤔😕) cant fault the look of the LB100 nor the sound. I do find the neck too chunky though especially down by the first few frets. Feels like a baseball bat compared to the Cutlass. I’ve heard a lot of complaints about the Tribute L2K neck and I’ve had a couple of those. The LB100 neck is bigger than that bass. I am debating at the moment whether the LB100 is a keeper. Think I prefer J and modern P/Stingray sized necks.

**Now sold** Line 6 M5 I’ve owned from new and which has served me well over a number of years, developed the issue which seems to sometimes afflict this pedal. It’s a grounding issue which ended up with me following advice and scraping the paint off the screws on the bottom which help hold the chassis together. I then removed the screws completely. All very technical stuff. there’s online threads on this issue such as this one https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.talkbass.com/threads/line6-m5-grounding-issue.1059600/%3famp=1407608172 I wont say it works 100% of the time guaranteed and I wouldn’t rely on it as part of my gig rig but for home use as a stereo reverb or delay it’s a sound buy. Don’t have psu, manual or box for it. Will be well packed for shipping £25 + £5 postage (a fair bit heavier than your average a boss pedal) thanks Keir IMG_3285.MOV

I have a Cort GB75JH 5 string. It’s 9.5lbs/4.3 kg. The one I sold on here a few months back, from memory, was lighter still (Had them both at the same time)

I’ve had my TC 3rd Dimension eighteen months now and despite planning another pedalboard then selling what I had collected halfway through completion, I hung onto the 3rd Dimension. Probably because of a mixture of regret at selling my DC-2 years ago (and a DC-3 Digital Dimension too), the fact I don’t use that type of effect enough to shell out on a Waza Craft and also it sounds extremely close to what I remember my DC-2 sounding like. Believe these are Behringer cc300 space chorus boards re-done by TC after their takeover. The metal case and jack sockets are a big improvement on the behringer ones. Only downside imo is the lack of stereo outputs. Otherwise a really great sounding pedal for peanuts.

Because of other hobbies and interests eating at my disposable income too, I have largely been a bass bottom feeder of sorts lately. I’ve been mostly buying and playing Corts and G&L Tributes this year and genuinely have no complaints about them. I used to play pretty much exclusively USA Instruments at one point but nowadays I don’t feel I necessarily need to be doing that as the quality of the Indonesian gear is so good. That said I have bought a USA MusicMan Cutlass bass in 2020. This could all change again at some point as I rarely ever stay still on the basses I own. Maybe half as many basses that each cost twice as much will be the focus of the next overhaul. I do love seeing all the Super J, custom builds and high end exotica on here though. It’s like super cars on you tube. I will never own one but it doesn’t stop me wanting to look at them😍

My Cutlass. Finally got enough respite from rain yesterday to let me take some pics.

**synth and pickup sold. Withdrawing bass from sale ** Cort GB99F Bass c/w Roland GK-3B synth pickup. Bass has flame maple top and bound maple fingerboard with block inlays, Hipshot tuners. Bass is from 2003 and was top of the range at the time. Bass has some marks in line with its age but nothing noticeable from anything other than close up. Nice low action, no electronics or playability issues. GK-3B pickup has quite a few marks and paint missing etc but works fine. GR-55 is in excellent condition and has no issues and comes with extra long GK lead, instruction manual and psu. All works fine with no issues I’m in Ayr 30 miles south of Glasgow if you want to come and have a try. The world of guitar/bass synth is very inspirational if you have the time for it. The GR55 has a load of onboard features eg bass modelling, looper etc and I have only scratched the surface in the time I have had it. My time is very limited these days so not much opportunity for messing around with gear unfortunately. Bass And synth package £475 + £20 p&p May split

I have a couple of Sterling brochures which were in the gig bags when I bought their basses. The mint green was a launch colour in the 2011/12 brochure but had disappeared by the 2015 one.

I have one of the older Ray34CA ones.Great bass and my own humble opinion is these are better than the regular Ray34. The EQ has a fat sounding bottom end with just enough treble/click/sizzle and to my ears always sounds warm and musical. The whole thing is put together extremely well too. I honestly have trouble finding fault with mine at all. Yes the neck could be a bit wider at the nut to help further the illusion and yes, while I would love a pre EB, a Classic StingRay or a regular 2EQ USA StingRay, this does the job I need it to do. If you’re at home on a Jazz then the neck will feel familiar. MusicMan for a while did the SLO Specials which had a J width nut and those were always highly sought after by players wanting the MM tone with a J width neck. I haven’t ever played the newer Ray24. I like the finish options and the price is lower but beyond that I don’t know anything about them other than what’s on YouTube videos of them. The Ray34CA basses don’t pop up too often, though are probably going for near what you can get a Ray24 new for.

I have a GB75JH with the MM humbucker at the bridge. Speaking of which, I like the Omega high mass bridge, each saddle has four separate grooves for setting your own string spacing. The bass has some quality hardware (Hipshot Ultralite tuners too) and the fit and finish as well as the woods used are all very good. The figuring on the fretboard on mine is nice though would have been a classy touch to have continued the same flame maple onto a veneer on the front face of the headstock. The pickups/electronics package are certainly up to the job but given the quality of other aspects of the bass, it’s the one area I feel I may look at upgrading in the future. It doesn’t feel like an issue with the bass, like I said the electronics are fine, probably likely more me and an idea in my head of the sound I want. Nice to have the active/passive switch on the volume control but there is what feels like a fair drop in output when switching to passive even with the active bass and treble controls set flat at the centre detentes. I like mine a lot and I’m in no hurry to punt it on. I did actually have two when I planned on using these as my main gigging bass but that’s changed and I don’t need a back up the same now. Lastly, I like all the see thru colours on both the JJ and JH models. They all work well with the maple board imo.
