1. The 35'' scale length and fairly chunky neck on my Euro 5 make it quite a handful. I record a fair bit with mine and after switching to the spector from another bass the volume jump is sometimes just too much. I've learned to keep the tonepump flat and add a teeny bit treble or bass as needed. The sustain on the neck thru is fantastic and build quality wise, they're up there imo and feel like they'll last forever. Also very very pretty too. a USA NS model is on another level still and I'm hoping to own one of those in my future I used to have 2 Euro 5's but crazykiwi now has the other one. I'm still happy with the one I've left
2.
Oh my Lord! thats 20th is AWESOME! Id change the scratchplate but thats LUSH x 100000000000000000.1
that could be messy - iirc they're glued on the 20th,not fixed with screws.
3. outstanding pair!

5. outstanding looking bass! I've never seen a fretless in this colour before and only ever a handful for sale used in pearl lavender including this one. I managed to get my 5 string with a maple board and matching headstock after a couple of years looking at ebay and the ebmm boards.
6. fantastic! My G&L GAS is going into overdrive with this one
7. I used to own an older ash Std with the wenge neck. It was passive and sounded great. the one that I'd like to have a go with is the $$. I've yet to try one though
8. the colour is called pearl lavender and was discontinued in around '02 . its close(ish) to Fender's burgandy mist. I have a Stingray 5 in the same.
9.
do you know the serial number's letter on your sterling?
if you mean the letter that preceeds the numbers,Sterlings and Bongos begin with "F" and SR4/5 begin with "E"
10. I love the Echo Park tonecore pedal. I got mine from sk8 last year and I'll never sell it. I also like the FX on the Toneport UX2. I used to record with a POD XT Live but I ditched that for the UX2 and am much happier nowadays. edit: and I think the vocal preamp settings on the UX2 are astounding for the hundred quid I paid for it.
11. welcome thodrik, nice gear! I always liked the look of the Excess though I've never tried one. Not even sure if theres anyone else on here with one. post a pic of it in the gear porn section when you get a chance please?
12. given all the basses you own,it must have made quite an impression! I'm very happy with my single H Stingray 5 - I get enough variation out of the EQ and the series/single coil/parallel switch - The SR5 does sound a bit more polite than the other MM models imo when solo'd but in a band context it sounds just as you say..fat! Some maybe disagree but I think its a great sounding bass in a mix.
13. are either of the Curbows passive? I thought they were active. I've played a few and I like them
14. they should sound the same - the bridge hb is in the same place,is wired in parallel and is selectable on its own
15.
I have a Stingray5 and i would say its one of the best 5 string's ive played...Just awsome tone...The best B string ive encountered....You just can not go wrong with one of these!!!!
+1
16. my G&L SB-2 a great workhorse bass with a lovely neck, great tone and a character all of its own.

Just got the Ashdown Sub Octave pedal from Martin. Extremely happy with the pedal and the transaction. Buy from him with absolute confidence. Keir
18. ^^ love that V4 - in Dave's pics it looked more green. Awesome bass btw - I held back phoning him about it,my bank balance is better for it but I'm now a bit sore with snoozing and losing on this. anyway congrats on scoring a great bass!
19.
To my mind, people have a real problem, that is... living with fender and musicman and thats it ! G&L surpass both, sure you can have a pop at the eye gouger headstock, but these are well engineered basses with years of heritage attached to them, any bass and especially the hi end boutique bass have ugly bits, wals arnt that beautiful, except in the eye of the beholder for instance, but these are still leo and georges best kept secret. rant over.
well ranted! and bump for a great bass
20. crikey - 7 string fretless acoustic - with that amount of string tension it'll probably fold in on itself
21. nice one! well you got it in the end in a round about way . you're right about the sound. definetely the warmest sounding Euro 5 I've owned/played. the green 5 I've still got and others I auditioned at sound control all sound to have a more extreme glassy top end and not so plummy in the lows. THis one is a little softer sounding for want of a better description, and very musical to my ears for it
22.
Brilliant.............and what about this one? Enormous Room
wow! that is astounding!
23. just bought a gold scratchplate for a P bass from Alan. as most of you probably already know he's a top fella. He sent the plate 1st class same day before I even sent payment! thats service above and beyond what can be expected imo. thanks again Keir
24. came with the 08 MIA Std Precision I got in January. It must be for a MIM as it doesnt have the truss rod access notch but will fit either MIA or MIM. 13 hole,3 ply heres a pic of it when it was on my bass SOLD cheers
