My Classic Sabre 😍 Gets me really close to a StingRay. Has the Lakland H+S mode and does the 'hollow' two pickup tone with the switch in the middle position. There's a lovely woody P bass mode tone on position 4 and lastly a nice fat warm neck humbucker on its own. I prefer the 'Lakland' and 'P bass' inbetween settings on the Sabre 5 way compared to both inner and both outer coils settings on a StingRay HH.

Understated and classy looking imo. F basses really intrigue me. Would love to try one.

I owned this bass for a couple of years (as well as owning no42 previously ) and they are great Super J basses. Very rare here too - I can only think of nos 11, 42 (and possibly no 5 iirc) which I've seen for sale on BC and in the UK in the past 15 years or so. There could well have been others but I don't recall seeing them. Would love to buy it back, but I'm not playing fours these days and I've overspent as usual. Seller is a top basschatter as well! GLWTS! -
Totally agree that the core tone of the Sadowsky pre amp is one of, if not my favourite bass tones. And I find that I'm getting that tone off the MEs. I did worry about the preamp being a little bit over bright even with the treble set at zero and how the lack of VTC would mean taming it from the amp head itself but I noticed that at volume it doesn't come across that way at all. In fact I was boosting the treble a bit. What is always noticeable though is that big lovely fat but clear bottom end. It just works!

I've been rehearsing and gigging with my two first gen MEs and they've been great so far. Possibly not so much I haven't missed the VTC that was on my M5-24 and Valenti, as just learning to work with what I have. Anyway no complaints at all.

I just ordered one. Now going to go through the 47 pages on here 🙃

Why is is so hard to find a decent graphite neck?
dub_junkie replied to roonjuice's topic in Bass Guitars
I really like the neck on my Klos Apollo and will no doubt be putting a deposit down on one of their five string Jazz bass necks. Just need them to do an MM one for my Sabre. -
*Withdrawn* Cort GB75JH Trans red over ash with maple neck and flame maple fretboard. Cort MM + J with 2EQ and push/pull active/passive switch on volume pot. Omega high mass bridge and Hipshot tuners. Sorry no gig bag with this one. Bass has been extremely well looked after by its previous owner. I took it in part exchange but already have a small collection of gigging five strings. £295 audition and collection in Market Drayton, North Shropshire Able to meet Telford, Crewe, Stoke etc Alternatively can box up for courier if buyer arranges their own service and level of cover.

My sentiments exactly !

Lovely bass. I had a natural Deluxe HH 5 string and also a metallic rootbeer 4 string which were both excellent, particularly the 5. The neck was very Stingray 5 like in feel and the in between positions were great. Would have liked a single H to hear how that sounded.

NOW SOLD So once again I bought a really sweet fretless and quickly discover I have no time to try master that particular discipline. Bought from Soledad on here a short while ago. Comes with nice Sire heavy duty high quality gig bag. Bass is available for audition in Market Drayton, Shropshire. Total cost for my two MEs including the fret level on the black/maple J/J is £1020. No complaints as I have a great pair of gigging basses. Both play really well and both sound brilliant.

Dakota red Harley Benton JB62 bought nearly six months ago. Basses have come and basses have gone and some have even come and gone in the time I've had this 😁 It arrived with what must have been some blunt shock damage. Chip out the face of the headstock and strap pin at the end of the body has been pushed further into the body and is now at an angle with some paint missing. Was going to start a claim/return process with it but there was no damage to the boxes etc so I thought to myself how that one was going to pan out as they were asking for pics of damage to the shipping boxes etc. Anyway decided to keep it and have it as my noodling bass in the spare room. Unlike my other basses it doesn't live in a case or a bag and sits on a 3 guitar stand by my amp. Strung it with flats and set it up and to my mind it's a pretty cool bass. I've taken it as back up to a couple of pub gigs the last couple of months and it doesn't really ever factor in any of my selling plans. Colour looks a lot better in the flesh so to speak. Does everything I need it to and for £125 it's a keeper!

Well it arrived today and it has zero issues. Frets are fine, no preamp noise, everything as it should be and a nice light, weight. Plays great and sounds sweet Really happy with this one from the off. However.... it was shipped without the gig case. Came inside four boxes - An outer shipping box, then a Framus/Warwick/Sadowsky shipping box with two further boxes inside. No Sadowsky Porta Bag gig case anywhere to be seen so phoned them and told them it should have been included. They told me they'll look into it and get back to me. Not happy that they could ship it not including the gig case. However I'm trying to be content that the bass is as I hoped.

Preferred the single H Bongo with 3EQ to any of the HH or HS I owned. Found the 4EQ a bit fiddly and the neck humbucker too close to the fingerboard. The 3EQ single H was lovely though. Should have kept that one!

No it's one of the discounted stock but my understanding is there were improvements made on subsequent runs from when they were first rush released and appeared as a total mess. Low end lobster documented some of the improvements on his you tube videos and I know that peeps on here who bought later ones were pleased with theirs. iirc Bass Agent bought a green four and a five and was happy gigging his. Others too if you look through the posts. It's on the big Sadowsky Metro Express thread. I'm sincerely hoping I get a later one. I ordered a tobacco burst P/J five with the morado fretboard. I'll be returning it if it needs anything beyond a set up (which I do for all my basses anyway) I do think that IF it's issue free, these are great five string basses for £475. Even without the VTC to my ears the bass has a great core tone. The jump in output from passive to active makes it an almost unusable feature/selling point but I just leave mine in active all the time. Shame about yours. Guess I'm taking a gamble with these blowout remaining stock but hopefully it pays off. Fingers crossed, will let you know.
