Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 5 Blue Dawn!
dub_junkie replied to mintybassman's topic in Basses For Sale
cant see how this would fare any better on the EBMM boards....maybe a bit more interest on account of the blue dawn finish but 95% of the punters there are from the other side of the pond and would prolly only pay the same in dollars. you're better off keeping it here imo maybe trades or partial trades or pop it on gumtree/adtrader. its a nice bass, someone will buy it I'm sure -
G&L Tribute L-2000? It does a ton of bass sounds and it just kills the 3 basses you mention imo

Roxy Music - Flesh & Blood / 'Same Old Scene' - Who's the Bassist?
+1 There's some great bass playing on Roxy Music albums.. The bass on 'Mother of Pearl' on the Stranded album is just wonderful!
absolutely! funky, melodic and immensely inspiring -
A guitar with an oil/wax maple fingerboard I have looked similiar but far more so than this JO. The chap who sold it to me had it refretted with jumbo frets by Feline guitars just before I got it.They either planed or sanded the board and then sealed it so it looked as good as new. excellent job they did too. not much help I know but surely better to play the JO religiously, wear the frets out and then have the above work done I;m sure lovely bass btw
Another sweaty hello from Reading via Dalry
Dalry eh? my stepdad took me to an amateur footie match a wee while back, it was Beith vs Dalry, honestly you'd have thought those two next door towns were seperated by ideology, some of the stuff that was going on was just mental. Anyway I'm more civilised,I'm from Killie and up to my knees in Ayr blood

or get one of each. nowt wrong with that if you've the readies

thanks John, I asked as i havent had a peek under the bonnet so to speak and normally Fishman have their logo somewhere on the backplae or suchlike if its one of their regular systems. the piezo sounds fantastic and I love the tone of it solo'd without the EMG. plenty of "boing" in it. and the bass looks, feels and plays flat out cool (really nice tension and tone on the B string) and yay! for slotted headstocks! cheers
-
John, when did you get the 4 HHp? that looks great.. what a terrific flame on the cap and lovin the colour  incidentally, who makes the piezo system on these? I'm very impressed with it through an ART Tube MP and into the PA. great basses these Bolins! Keir

I've always thought the single coil sound on the Sterling is a great additional tone. and the neck profile is lovely,if you like the nut width
For anyone that hasn't dealt with Dave before I can confirm he is as a nice guy as you could wish to meet & his gear is beautifully cared for. You really cannot go wrong.

Don't go without saying goodbye David!! And I hope you will keep Basschatting from Singapore? Just to echo Macko's comment earlier, business with Eubassix always goes down smooth. Without this man I would be bassless. ped

Agree with this entirely. Very good packaging as well! Steve
+1 from me on all this. Dave's a great guy to deal with. had some good conflabs about all things bass on the blower with the fella when I got the Godlyke Disciple from him a few weeks back. helpful and accomodating chap. i wish you all the best with your move sir, will miss seeing your exotica up for sale here and ooh! thats my old CAR Sterling. awesome example, whoever gets it will love it! I find this bit confusing
The common factor here is that everyone who has owned this bass, have Fender P-Basses and this Lakland is NOT a P-Bass anymore to my ears
but on the ebay listing it says "I'm offering a Lakland Skyline Bob Glaub with Villex Pickup with 4 position mid switch and Villex rotary tone boost, really adds another dimension to the Precision sound while retaining the classic passive P bass tone as well" (key word here being "retaining") so which one is it?

agreed, the Sterling is more organic and growly than a Bongo and more too than an SR5 . Bongo sound is more about the electronics, bigger and smoother. when I had a Bongo and Sterling at the same time, switching from the bongo to the sterling was like going from active to passive, like a lot of volume and tone dropped out. The Bongo sounds better but from experience I think the Sterling/SR5 is the better gigging bass
Really? must have been quick because i'm always looking at their for sale section.
yes was quick, seller was bdgotoh, he was selling the Copperhead Bronze Sterling single H and a Desert Gold Sterling H at the same time, both had rosewood boards, the CB was sold within hours and the DG one not long after. I remember it as its the only Sterling I think I've ever seen in the bronze with the copper pickguard
