if not black/maple then white/maple - both are great but for me olympic white/maple makes for a great looking Jazz bass just a teensy bit nore than the black.

wish I had the cash or the bass that you're after
she's a beauty! -
just watched last nights repeat. loved the tone off the Yeasayer's bassisist's Asat fretless. the guy had a nice sense of space to his playing with some wicked little fills. the vocalist though seemed to lift a lot of his posturing and movement straight off Brandon Flowers, and anyway singers with beards are just not on

lovely SR5,would've been all over it if I hadnt just picked one up a couple of weeks ago
just thought I'd mention, the colour is actually blue pearl
good luck with the sale!

that is a hulluva lot of bass for £400. though if its like the R3/R4 sen ash guitars it'll prolly weigh a fair bit
damn I often type levinson blade in on ebay searches but not this past week.

lovin the Shuker - looks gorgeous,I'll bet it plays the same
what do the switches do? -
I sold a teal sub bass with an abalone plate for 300 quid 18 months ago. up to about 350 is ok for them imo. the not very nice textured finish and lack of detailing is too much of a no-no above that price.
it played and sounded as good as my 2 band Stinger I had before it though -
I used to post on the Ovation fanclub ( long time Custom Legend owner) but all that praise/worship talk started doing my nut in.well that and teh fact that none of the FS stuff was ever over here. still a good resource though.
I'm still wanting a full bodied B768 Elite style USA bass, one day I'll get one.

"spy in the cab" by Bauhaus the single note on the bass sounds like a tuned drum

most likely a modulus. he lists his kit in this interview 3rd page down

never played a Sandberg but I love my Euro 5. it's poles apart in character from my SR5,and the B is really excellent on the Spector.
I just got the Godlyke Disciple 5 off Eubassix and that sits somewhere between the two, more mids/growl than the Spector and more hi-fi than the MM. I was going to have another crack at a Bongo and had a 5string Hum/Single in mind but went for this instead and I'm glad I did. The Disciple has an 18v pre amp like the Bongo and more room between the J and the end of the f/board. but I guess availability could be an issue with them even if you wanted to have a look.
these are a couple of David's pics

nice playing Chris and Matt, lovin the tones off the G&Ls as well. I noticed with the L2K MFDs/electronics slightly rolling off volume and tone and where you place your right hand affects the sound more than I generally experience with other basses. and for me they sound bigger on the same amp settings than a Ray or Sterling in a band context. playing in an INXS tribute band last year I had my Sterling almost drop out the mix when all the band was running full tilt. so I plugged the Asat back in and the sound was there again. the sterling is a great bass but the G&Ls are a great band bass. they really come into their own in a loud band
will need to get some clips of my Asat,SB-2 and pure mid range honk of the L1500 up sometime soon
Keir -
Kev, it cost £600 with G&L hard case from BB2000 on these boards.its minted, very light with teriffic sustain and bags of wood, thump and growl in the tone.
well worth every penny

whole neck is like that ^^^
Keir -
Jamie at Hartnoll guitars 01752-255121 was very helpful back in February when I was looking for a JB-2 bass. I was after a Tribute one as I didnt think I'd get the USA version but he offered me a brand new butterscotch blonde Fullerton JB-2 at a really good price. I couldnt take it though as I'd just bought stingrayfan's L-1500. might be worth giving him a call and seeing what he can do for you
-
I've owned higher end and more versatile but biggest bond is with my G&L SB-2 with birdseye maple /ebony neck. If they all went I'd keep this
its pure plug in and play
This is mine, sitting on fellow BC'er Dub Junkie's stairs before I virtually stole it from him...

Musicman Axis Super Sport.
It's a great guitar to play, everything about it is right. It's cured most of my GAS for skinny six-stringers, but I can't help but think I might need another one identical to it in case I break a string on stage.
David,
ooh I miss that one! I should never have let it go but then again it did allow me to buy my '94 Albert Lee which is my favourite 6 stringer ever

Keir -
ok,been badly let down on this by a prospective buyer and I need the cash for a rather whopping repair bill on my car
highly figured flame top with birdseye neck. comes with deep lid MM case which means the trem arm can stay on the guitar in the case.
has a little fret wear and neck is a li'l bit grubby as they all do
otherwise a beautiful lookin, playing and sounding instrument at a bargain price
will include next day courier FOC
if you dont want it,tell your guitarist!

cheers
Keir -
Mart,
I pretty much always use an automotive cleaner these days. (well one of the jobs I have is at a car garage) I couldnt stand most guitar polishes D'eandrea and others whose names escape me so long since I used any of them.
the one I use now is a trade one Autoglaze finishing glaze but Wynns, auto glym etc all do similiar. its a cream white one not liquid and doesnt leave a residue on the instrument and will bring up a shine much better than any of the over the counter guitar polishes.
heres the SR5 I got a few days ago. it was a bit dull looking when I first got it - one application of autoglaze and voila! check the sheen!
and I've been using these products for the last 4 years without any probs - same stuff goes on showroom Lambos, mercs and beemers

hope this helps
Keir -
thanks guys
Nice - you're building up quite a collection there. You'll be able to open a shop soon!
some juggling to be done so the herd may thin a little (but I hope not too much).deal already done on one of my Spectors for another lovely 5 with another basschatter.hopefully the CAR sterling will become something else too
nice mate, qulaity stuff there. How are you finding the SR5?
Lovin the SR5 .not as edgy as the Sterlings - . I did have a trans teal/rosewood SR5 a long time ago which was my no1 bass for about 5 years, always knew I'd have another.
SR5 is beautiful, absolutely my favorite colour for a bass and dead, dead rare. I'd love a Fender Jazz and matching Precision in Burgandy Mist, pre CBS, just like John Entwhistle used to have but finding them in left hand would be impossible. The three MM's together look sexy.
in total agreeament on the colour, burgandy mist is an all time favourite of mine too,I used to own a 60's reissue Strat in the same. Pearl Lavender is a rare colour on any MM bass and I dont think I've ever seen another 5 like it on the ebmm boards ever. Its actually more subdued than my photos suggest. in person it's very close to richardd's fender CS jazz going by his pics
Wow that SR5 is stunning. Congrats.
sure is and I've got a rather super ebmm moonstone pickguard to go on it this week sometime
... I missed out on the Vigier Excess btw (bill for a car repairs saw to that
) winning bidder got it for 400 big ones lucky blighter!
cheers
