1. My Godlyke Disciple 5 - hand made in Japan, satin finish ash body with SGC MM+J pups and 18v circuit. she arrived with me from Eubassix a couple of weeks ago. I've lowered the action a tad and its a peach of a player with a really nice and varied set of tones

next is the Spector Euro 5 - the best price v capability ratio bass I've yet come across. I may swap out the tonepump for a preamp with mid control at a later date but otherwise I'm really happy with this bass.

  2.
im no expert on the multitude of different basses however.... i got a sterling hs at xmas and im chuffed to bits with it.it has a 5 way switch and 3 band eq.you can dial in pretty much any tone you could wish for.the neck is nice and slim as the others have said but compared tonally to my jazz this things on steroids.
ive never played a stingray so ive nothing to offer there but the sterling hs does have a wonderfull voice.
heres a wee piccie, aint she cuuuuute.

thats lovely that is. nice looking bit of ash. :)

how are they wired, are both p/ups series or parallel?

    cheers

  3. sweet SR5 and the same goes for Dougal's Bongo 5 - looks like a swap if ever I saw it. good luck fellas :)

both basses have their attributes, and its not till you let either one go that you realise you actually need both a Bongo and a SR5. thats how I feel about it anyway

  4. I sold a teal sub bass with an abalone plate for 300 quid 18 months ago. up to about 350 is ok for them imo. the not very nice textured finish and lack of detailing is too much of a no-no above that price.
it played and sounded as good as my 2 band Stinger I had before it though

  5. I used to post on the Ovation fanclub ( long time Custom Legend owner) but all that praise/worship talk started doing my nut in.well that and teh fact that none of the FS stuff was ever over here. still a good resource though.
I'm still wanting a full bodied B768 Elite style USA bass, one day I'll get one.

  7. never played a Sandberg but I love my Euro 5. it's poles apart in character from my SR5,and the B is really excellent on the Spector.

I just got the Godlyke Disciple 5 off Eubassix and that sits somewhere between the two, more mids/growl than the Spector and more hi-fi than the MM. I was going to have another crack at a Bongo and had a 5string Hum/Single in mind but went for this instead and I'm glad I did. The Disciple has an 18v pre amp like the Bongo and more room between the J and the end of the f/board. but I guess availability could be an issue with them even if you wanted to have a look.

these are a couple of David's pics

  8. nice playing Chris and Matt, lovin the tones off the G&Ls as well. I noticed with the L2K MFDs/electronics slightly rolling off volume and tone and where you place your right hand affects the sound more than I generally experience with other basses. and for me they sound bigger on the same amp settings than a Ray or Sterling in a band context. playing in an INXS tribute band last year I had my Sterling almost drop out the mix when all the band was running full tilt. so I plugged the Asat back in and the sound was there again. the sterling is a great bass but the G&Ls are a great band bass. they really come into their own in a loud band

will need to get some clips of my Asat,SB-2 and pure mid range honk of the L1500 up sometime soon

  9. Kev, it cost £600 with G&L hard case from BB2000 on these boards.its minted, very light with teriffic sustain and bags of wood, thump and growl in the tone.
    well worth every penny

whole neck is like that ^^^

  10. Jamie at Hartnoll guitars 01752-255121 was very helpful back in February when I was looking for a JB-2 bass. I was after a Tribute one as I didnt think I'd get the USA version but he offered me a brand new butterscotch blonde Fullerton JB-2 at a really good price. I couldnt take it though as I'd just bought stingrayfan's L-1500. might be worth giving him a call and seeing what he can do for you

  11.
This is mine, sitting on fellow BC'er Dub Junkie's stairs before I virtually stole it from him...

    Musicman Axis Super Sport.

It's a great guitar to play, everything about it is right. It's cured most of my GAS for skinny six-stringers, but I can't help but think I might need another one identical to it in case I break a string on stage.
David,

ooh I miss that one! I should never have let it go but then again it did allow me to buy my '94 Albert Lee which is my favourite 6 stringer ever
