congrats...I love the look of the pre EB Sabre basses.I once owned an '88 EB Sabre f/less and always wondered how it would sound against one of the Leo era ones given the different switching but never got the chance. I still havent heard/played a pre EB one and I guess I wont either as they're rare birds these days. I'm guessing they're not too disimiliar to an early L2K? enjoy the bass!

was a sweet pair.basschatter tonyf has the cherryburst semi-hollow nowadays.just cant bring myself to take the pics down with all the G&Ls showing up on basschat again of late,I went and let the side down - stayed up and missed out on a honeyburst JB-2 a few minutes ago - gutted! one will be mine one day!

lovely bass....I've always liked these.and they have their fans on the TB G&L forum too. G&L's all got their own individual character,if I can afford it over time,I want to own an Asat,a JB2,an SB2 and one of these I love seeing these basses on BC.thanks for showing it
I've got a bad GAS problem with G&Ls at the mo... A week after getting the natural L2000 Tribute, I've just pulled the trigger on a US L1500. <thinks> Must stop now...
was that the trans green/rosewood one on ebay this week? if so you got a new old stock L1500 at a bargain price. the L1500 has the MFD in the same position as Ray I believe so should have a different sound to your L2Ks.qustion is...will you keep the Ray? you will need to change your name to G&Lfan now re Asat v L2K - I owned an alder/rosewood L2K a few years ago and from what I recall,it soundeds exactly the same as my Asat (again alder/rosewood) any differences are visual,in the neck profile and also the way the basses hang

plugged in,the Sterling and SR5 should sound more like each other than they do. the EQ (and particuarly the mid freq) must be voiced different....I've owned a SR5 and borrowed another for an extentended period of time and both were soft sounding in comparion to the 3 Sterlings I've owned.mids on the sterling bite a lot harder imo but Sterling doesn't have quite the big lovely bottom end of the five either

beerdragon, sry I dont have a link.they run auctions fairly reguarly I think,I'd just keep an eye out for them if you can

both pickups in parallel,in 1st active position(no treble boost) is one of my all time favourite bass tones. great sound with treble boost on as well but can get a bit too sizzly if you dont roll off some treble. I also love the neck pickup in series and passive mode as well - dead woody sounding.... almost a one bass bass does all with the tri-tone electronics and MFD humbuckers - and with each polepiece on each coil adjustable theres no quieter strings unless strangely you ever wanted them that way. great demo - I think he covered each of the tones in logical order and with the right amount of comparisons.

I had flats on my Sterling for a day and I couldnt get roundwound ones back on it quick enough.sorry but not for me

for me over the last 2/3 months these 2 songs by this one artist seem to do the trick most consistently Mika - Grace Kelly + Big Girls you are beautiful others that I've noticed getting them up faster than the tired old usual suspects (A little respect etc) Amy Winehouse - Valerie Gnarles barkley - Crazy Primal Scream - Country Girl Stereophonics - Dakota Killers - somebody told me
I got excited for a moment because I thought you were selling it. I was starting to think "hmm..would I use it?" Great looking bass. Love the colour.
which one do you like the colour of? the one shot of the sparkle white aint too clever.it looks heaps better in the flesh so I will need to get some better pics of it sometime this week
Wish they made a 5 string Sterling....
The Sterling 5 is to debut at namm summer '08 I believe. once the Bongo 6 is done and dusted they'll be releasing some pics

I had the rackmount pro version.it was fairly inspiring on guitar when I had the time to delve into it but did nothing for me bass wise. the synths were a bit of a joke imo with poor tracking and I'm not a fan of the line 6 Mutron models so all that was left was some synced tempo filter effects which wasn't enough to warrant keeping it.

the last Ray I had was a 2 band - sounded a bit more bottom heavy and transparent than the 3 I had before it,if less versatile withoud the mids s_u_y I love that blueburst one you got. if you ever want a sale/trade keep me in mind cheers

David bought my MusicMan Axis SuperSport from me about 6 weeks ago.met him in person to do the deal. edit : also got a Stingray scratchplate off him 18 months ago. top fella!
-
Sterling single H! its the best bass MusicMan do,believe me Bongo sounds stellar but for me other things like the ergomics and styling of the bass bothered me when I owned one. you cant go wrong with a stingray and of the three they're more likely to hold thir value better.

snce got another Sterling and swapped the necks out cant decide which one I like more they're both fantastic!
