  1. Hi Alan, I'm not able to accurately measure the action but it's low. I don't ever have any bass I have to fight with and I normally set up my basses with the action as low as it will go without fretting out. I will take some pictures of the fretboard and string height later if any good to you? One thing I've found with all MusicMan basses with the compensated nut is that the action is a little bit higher at the first fret than I would ideally like. But like I said I'm a complete wuss when it comes to set ups on a bass. I play with a light touch. Don't really ever dig in so I like the action low.
  2. Paul bought my Vintage Sunburst Sterling Ray35H. Quick payment. Met him this evening just gone to handover the bass. Proper stand up guy - he bught me a drink and we obviously had a bass related chat. Top fella, knows his stuff and he has great taste in basses. Thanks Paul. Hope to buy/sell/trade with you again!! 🙂 Cheers Keir
  3. Spanner has been thrown in the works and my original plan could be in jeapordy, so to help me get my Valenti back I'm putting my workhorse Ray 35H back up for sale again. Put it up a few weeks back then withdrew it because I really didn't fancy parting with it. Anyway needs must. Older style Ray35 bought from Bass Direct s/h for £700 earlier this year. Was bought new by another basschat member who traded it in. Few small marks, bit of discolouration/mojo on fingerboard, pickguard shows signs of being well used (£30 for a new one from earlpilanz on ebay in almost any colour or pattern you can think of) it's a superb example of these basses. Has that big fat tone that just bubbles under everything else going on. The bass didn't come with the Sterling gig bag but I can include a Deluxe Fender heavy padded one with the bass.Strings could likely do with replacing. Bass free to audition in Market Drayton, Shropshire. Could possibly meet Telford or Stoke areas. Could make arrangements to meet in East Finchley, North London on Sunday 6th August as I'm hoping to drive down if I can sort a couple of deals beforehand.
  4. Valeon Bass Dapper FX strip Tuner/Compressor/Auto wah/Bass Preamp/Octaver/Chorus Can select fuzz on or off with auto wah Fx loop between octave and chest for adding other pedals. XLR out Metal chassis Boxed with manual. Mint condition. Only ever used once at practice. I just don't get on with FX apart from a compressor on my amp £75 posted Can possibly meet Stoke/Telford areas.
  5. Congrats! I have flats on mine and is my go to bass that I reach for at home. My plan is to put chrome covers on it whenever I remember to order them. Like I said the pics don't do the colour justice. It's a duller red in RL, not so tomato sauce looking. I think it's the best colour on the JB62s followed by shell pink and surf green
  6. Do it Stuart! You know you want to😁
  7. 2013 MusicMan Classic Sabre One piece natural ash body with birdseye maple neck. Usual Sabre appointments- two flat topped humbuckers (16 pole in neck/8 pole at bridge), 5 way selector switch - in between positions are bridge facing coil of neck pickup on its own (getting into P bass territory) and the other is the same coil paired with the bridge humbucker (Lakland mode) There is a silent circuit for the single coil when in pos 2 and 4. 2EQ preamp, no centre detentes on pots/knobs. Old style bridge with mutes. 12" radius fretboard, compensated nut and body contours (only the Sabre has these features in the Classic series) Now discontinued, wonderful sounding bass. Weight is 4.77kg on my luggage scales. (I got a multitude of readings from 4.46 up to 4.79 kgs so took one at the top end) Feels indestructible, top quality, no issues at all. Balances great when worn and not tiring if worn with a wide(ish) strap.Comes with the original MM hard case. Only selling as a chance to buy back my much missed Valenti Jazz has come up. Audition in Market Drayton, Shropshire. Can possibly meet Stoke, Crewe,Shrewsbury,Telford and possibly driving down to London on Sunday 6th August. Thanks for looking Keir
  8. Yet another vote for Harley Benton. I've got a dakota red JB-62 which I really like. You can get a B stock one delivered for £100. I've bought a few B stock HBs and I've yet to find a fault with any. https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_jb_62cc_dr.htm Colour never captures right on camera. It's at least a shade darker in real life
  9. I had a pair of V3 four strings. Gigged a white one with a black as back up - terrific basses with a really great preamp imo. Sold them when I moved back to fives and n all fairness I'd likely have had this passive version if I didn't need to shift a few first. GLWTS!
  10. Can do bass at £675 with Sterling gig bag
  11. I agree it's underpriced. Someone is going to get a bargain.
  12. Such a pretty StingRay😍 I really like the Specials with sparkly finishes, ebony boards and black hardware. GLWTS!
  13. In bright sunshine the Sledge finish goes like this also looks great under artificial/stage lighting. Bit of a chameleon
  14. NOW SOLD Up for sale is my Vintage Sunburst Ray 35H with Sterling deluxe gig bag. This is not getting playtime over my natural H so looking to change things up a bit. Owned by me from new and is one of the newer models with the roasted neck and Stingray 5 logo on headstock. Sweet bass, plays and sounds great. Beautiful dark roasted neck, I think the sunburst is over a mahogany body. The weight is 4kg which is a bonus! Everything structural, mechanical and electrical is in excellent condition and works as it should. There is a scratch running from the truss rod access across the pickguard and onto the treble side horn from when I first got the bass in August 2022. The truss rod felt like it was stuck on. I stupidly forced the issue with the result that the truss rod now turns fine, but I marked the bass. The scratch can only really be seen when you turn it in the light and not from more than a few feet away. It is a fine scratch and may be able to be buffed out but I don't have the know how. Silly thing to do with a brand new bass but you live and learn. The pickguard alao has very light scratching on it. I've looked online and these currently retail new for £1200 - £1300, cheapest being Thomann at £1219 Audition and collection preferred in Market Drayton, Shropshire. Could possibly meet Stoke,Crewe, Shrewsbury,Telford etc Thanks for looking! Keir
  15. **Traded away. Now gone** Up for sale is my Pearl white Ray 35HH with MusicMan hard case (can also sell for £50 less with the SBMM padded gig bag) Selling as dont see me switching away from my single H. One of the newer models with roasted neck and Stingray 5 logo on headstock. Lovely bass, plays great and sounds huge! (Incidentally something I found out was that this bass will still sound if the battery dies) Everything is in excellent condition and works as it should. The pickguard has light scratching on it and there is a small nick on the side (pictured) Weight is 4.45kg Comes with an EBMM StingRay hard case. Audition and collection preferred in Market Drayton, Shropshire. Could possibly meet Stoke,Crewe, Shrewsbury,Telford etc Thanks for looking! Keir
  16. Amazing top!! However which way that wood can be figured it's sure to be in there somewhere 😍
  17. I just got a black/maple M5-24 and I'm somewhat smitten with it. I can normally nitpick a fault or something I'm not happy with but I can't with this Japanese Sadowsky. They really are superb instruments. GLWTS!
  18. New pickguards on the Sabres Black abalone for the natural And white pearloid for the sunburst
  19. G&L CLF L-1000 Pharaoh Gold (Since traded away unfortunately)
  20. Found my Sabres. Was happy then. But then switched to fives so had to start the search again. Or I just have an illness 🤪
  21. Pop round Wayne. Come and have a look. I'll put the kettle on 🙂
  22. On my luggage scales it's 4.58kg Weighed it about half a dozen times and it kept coming back to this weight or thereabouts.
  23. Really don't want to do this as I just bought it from Josh on here but with a newly arrived Sadowsky Modern 5 string in the house, I need a rethink and rationalisation of my bass gear. Bass is exactly the same as per Josh's sale post. Nordstrand pickups with 3 band EQ. Brilliant neck. Poplar burl top is very pretty. Bass is very light and is extremely well put together and comes with the Ibanez gig bag. Bass can be auditioned in Market Drayton between Shrewsbury and Stoke. Will box up for courier if buyer arranges their own service and level of cover etc
