1.
Yeah I guess I'll just have to try a few. I am partial to fish and chips back home and I live 2000 miles from the ocean. Are the prices on the Bass Centre website correct. If they are I am sorry for all of you. I can get an EHX Big Muff for about $80 and that website has them for £85 so thats what $170? Jesus! And a Tech 21 Sansamp Bass driver DI is $200 here and £179 there. Wow I should just fill up a suitcase with American made effects pedals. Are there strict laws regarding knives there as there are laws regarding guns? I generally alwas carry a folding knife with about a 10cm blade on it and I wouldn't want to get in trouble for carrying a conceled weapon or something like that. Thanks for the heads up on luthiers to watch out for. I have always been a kind of out of the box musician so I have never really owned any custom instruments. I would really hate to come home with a high end piece of sh*t.
Well, if I were you I'd bring say a Stingray, a Lakland, a Jazz, a Precision AND a suitcase full of pedals - after all you are hoping to jam with your friends here +1 for the blades - the legal limit is a 7.62mm blade and it has to be a folding knife - no lock knives, switchblades or daggers. Cops are usually ok about a leatherman with a locking blade as long as you have a 'reasonable excuse' for carrying it - i.e. a gigging musician and it's in a toolkit etc. If I lived in Brighton I'd show you around, drink some proper english ale and find the best damn chippy in the town Hamster
2. The 1 meg pot might get near it, but the tone pot mods make the most difference Hamster
3. Yes - it will allow more highs through. If that doesn't work, try a 1meg. Hamster
4. Haven't tried it, but any regular structured practice is going to help you improve. Hamster
5.
Just seen this on German ebay...some interesting other basses from this seller too- check out the 6 string bass ! http://cgi.ebay.de/HK-AK-47-4-SAITER-BASS-...1QQcmdZViewItem
Soon to be banned in the UK if the government pass another silly law Hamster
6. A lot of members are speaking very well of these - http://www.rondomusic.com/bassguitars4.html AND as cheap as chips Hamster
7. +1 - they are quite a good place to deal with and have good prices, although other shops beat them on a few lines, it won't be by much. Hamster
8. Are you offering them for sale on this forum, are just providing links to ebay auctions? If you're offering them for sale here, please put up some prices. Thanks Hamster
hi hi hi there, i am obviously a bassist and i gots me a nice fender jazz 60's reissue in sunburst with tortoise pickguard which is really rather splendid although i can't stop looking at other models
It's going to be hard reading through the forums without it affecting your GAS Welcome Hamster
10.
A Badass II would work on a jag with no drilling needed. You will need to file slots on the saddles or get a pre-slotted bridge. As for the neck dive its easier & cheaper to move the top strap button. I cured the dive on my thunderbird (probably the worlds most neck-divingest bass) by moving the button to the neck heel area.
Moving the strap button should work a treat - and it's a very cheap mod A lot cheaper than a set of Hipshot Ultralights and a Baddass II Hamster
11. Ummmmmmmmm - Mowtown That's got to be a great gig. Hamster
12. Stick with 230v - there's so little difference. Hamster
13. Has it always been this way, or has it suddenly developed? Hamster
14. UK voltage is now actually 230v AC to bring us closer to the rest of the EEC which is 220v AC. Hamster
15. I'm half tempted by the 3-tone sunburst with quilted maple top fretless. Hamster
16.
If they do a 5 string Jazz I'd be up for one too
Black or LPB? Hamster http://www.rondomusic.com/sjb6241.html
17. Hi Dave - and Welcome I think your best bet is to bring over a USA made Jazz or Precision and take back a Warwick. If you put up the Fender for sale on this site, I'm sure it will go the same day Hamster
18. Hi and Welcome You'll find several Gibson players here - enjoy the site. Hamster
19. I still bear the scars of helping Ian Gillan change the starter motor in his crappy old Fiat. Hamster
20.
I think it's a sad loss, for what ever reason. The Bass Centre has never been a problem for me. It's a shame that others have had a bad experience.
+1 I've been in there loads of times, and when they were at Wapping. I never had a problem with any of the guys in there. A shame its had to close its doors. Hamster
21. Hi, and welcome to the forums Well done for picking it up - now you're gonna have trouble putting it down Hamster
22. The bass player in The Rutles used to have a bass just like that Hamster
23.
I've been quite lax about it to be honest but i'm now getting bored of it. If you disagree with price someone has put their item up for, then PM them saying why you believe it is too high. Something is of course only worth what someone is willing to pay, what YOU are willing to pay may be different to someone else. If they choose to take your advice then great - if not then it isn't your problem. If you believe the seller is purposely being dishonest about the item then please PM a moderator who will look into it. The vigilante style self-moderation that is becoming commonplace is a nice theory, but can leads to this kind of situation. It doesn't benefit the forum and doesn't give a favourable impression of the people who are discrediting the item. I will from now on begin to delete any posts where I believe a member is discrediting the seller for the only reason that they disagree with the price of the item.
+1 - Thanks Hamster
24. The album Chops that he did with Joe Pass is still one of my faves Hamster
