1. One hopes that all the idiotic and abusive remarks are the work of children who know no better. If the're the work of adults then there are some really screwed up prople out there.

  3.
Been playing bass for the weird and wacky John Otway for about 15 years now…..
You have my deepest sympathy - has your psychiatrist given you any hope of you leading a normal productive life again? and welcome Hamster
  4. Put the hots from each pickup to the centre tab of each respective pot, then link the two outer tabs together, and then the linked outer tabs go to the hot jack tab. Should work. Hamster
  5. Might be something simple like dead strings? - but don't let buying a new set of strings put you off buying a new bass hamster
  6. I'll have to keep me eyes peeled at the car boot sales for a set of these! Hamster

  8.
Greetings, I can't remember what the tone capacitor is but can have a look tomorrow (unless someone can remind me what 473K means in terms of caps - 0.47uF? 0.047uF?) Pete
That will be a 0.047uF cap that will Hamster
  9. I think you're right. You buy a ticket to get entertained by them performing some of their best known songs with maybe a couple of album track old and new. You don't pay good money to see them arse around on stage. Hamster
  10.
Any ideas where i can pick up a black pickguard/scratch plate for a Stingray 5....?? Tune Basses
If this doesn't work, I'm going to sue Basschat for Aiding and Abetting GAS.
That's been tried before - Ped and CrazyKiwi just turned up at court with their underpants on their heads and pencils up their noses. They answered every question by saying "wibble." Case dismissed Hamster
  13. I reported this to ebay yesterday as a scam auction. I even gave them the item numbers of scam auctions where this picture had been used in the past - and they still haven't pulled the auction. Hamster
  14. We played at a wedding reception where Steve Hogarth was one of the guests, he stepped up to the mic to sing a couple of numbers. Bit of a shame we didn't know any Marillion songs! Hamster

    Fuzz pedal
That's not available commerically, he made it for him self and most of the effects on it aren't great for bass i.e. fuzz face and rangemaster
I think it's also on a concrete floor for a reason - it must put a bend in most floorboards Hamster
  16. I can recommend DR strings - hibeams, sunbeams or the fatbeams. Available from most places like stringbusters or stringsdirect etc. I haven't tried any flats on mine so can't speak for them. Hamster

Any of you pedal aficionado's been brave enough to try this one out? Hamster
  18.
Here we are -- I'm going to sit on the fence. I would rather watch a sh*t originals, cover or any other kind of band than sit at home. I get out to gigs so little, due to having small kids, that I even rocked up to church last Sunday because somebody was setting up a stage the day before. I don't remember the last originals gig I saw -- probably Kate Rusby in Norwich *blushes*. The last tribute band I saw was Quo-caine in Rudgwick, West Sussex -- hello Bassmurf! I'm not a great Quo fan, the weather was awful, the crowd was 20-strong in a swamp but I could still watch decent musicians having fun. Cheers Mark
Same here. I went out on Saturday night to see "Us, not them" a Pink Floyd tribute band. General musicianship was good. They were let down by a poor mix and a bad lead vocalist who couldn't hold a note or stay in the right key. Whatever was on the box that night, this was better. Hamster

  20.
the blue wire in my hand is coming from the pick up and wasn't connected to anything if that helps at all?
Where is the other wire from the pickup soldered?
  21. I would go for gold - it works on that bass Hamster
  22.
i was having some trouble picking up sound from my bass when i plugged it into my amp, i did all the checks the amp and cables were fine when i noticed my volume knob was lose and able to wiggle about so i removed the scratch board to tighten the volume knob when i noticed that a blue wire coming from the pick up was not connected to either the control knobs or the jack socket i took a picture to see if any one can help me cos my beautiful bass aint working. where does the blue wire go tone, volume or jack socket?????
The fuzzy photo doesn't help - one of the wires from the pickup goes to earth - soldered on the back of the volume pot, the other is soldered to the tab on the volume pot. I can't make out which one has come off. Any help? Hamster
