1.
Hi folks, My Vigier semi-hardcase needs a new zip. I have been to town and had quotes from £90 - seriously - and finally a very helpful woman in Millets gave me the details of this place which will do it for £20-25 but I will have to post it. Does anyone have any contacts I could exploit at this point? I can get a new one for £65 but would kind of prefer to fix up the origional, we share fond memories. Cheers ped
That place sounds quite good. The only other thing I was going to suggest would be to check out any small tailoring/repair shops in your area to see if they would be up for it? 4.
Wow have you got a fine few months ahead of you... I'd love to re-live the excitement of hearing the Stax and Atlantic soul catalogues for the first time ...
Ummmmmmmmmmmmm........... Motown Nirvana As well as listening to those CD's, a fun film to watch is The Commitments. Hamster
  5.
gay
Why stop there? - there's clearly room for another neck between the other two! Hamster
  6. As long as the wood is ok and the neck is straight, the only things you might want/have to replace are the pickups, controls, tuners, bridge, nut and strings. Then again, a money back guarantee if you don't like it, (check out the T&C) Hamster
  7.
For the scratch plate list (and other stuff I guess) http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/home/index.php
They're already on the general parts list, I'll add them to the scratchplates as a x-ref. 8.
Hey there, somebody gave me a bass yesterday so I decided to start playing. But then I figured I actually knew crap about bass guitars and that's how I ended up here ... hello everybody ! I have some questions about my bass and I'll post those in the general forum (that's the right place, right?) somewhere later today. When my amp stops playing radio and starts playing bass (what freaking amp knows how to play the radio ? I mean what the hell) I'll be able to suck even more and amaze my friends with easy, yet catchy bass lines. Or something.
Hi, and welcome! - you'll find almost everything you need here on an advice front, and bargains from reliable sellers in the for sale sections - enjoy! Hamster

  10.
I saw Roachford supporting Terrence Trent D'Arby. You may laugh but it was an awesome gig. Used to have TTD live on VHS.
Didn't TTD 'discover' Roachford? Hamster
  11. In any list of 'Cool' bass players, you have to put Phil Lynott near the top. Gay Byrne (TV chat show host), "Phil, what's it like to be black and Irish?" - Phil, "It's like being a pint of Guinness." Hamster

  13.
Hello all If you're in the mood for a change of look for your bass, suggest you try Pickguardian in the US. I've just recieved a custom scratchplate for my Waterstone from them and it's a beautiful piece of work. They do a ton of different guards, loads of acrylics and materials, great communications. Contact Tony Dudzik. Link: http://www.pickguardian.com/pickguardian/ Cheers P
Thanks for the link - I've added them to the spare parts sticky. Hamster
  14. Thank you for that Homer It doesn't take much talent to play a song by pressing a button and saying something inappropriate over the mic. Hamster

  16. Welcome Losendos! - my favourite haunt in the Corfe area is the Square and Compass at Worth Matravers - spent many a lost afternoon there! Hamster
  17. I'm after a Shure SM57, but got pointed towards one of these - MB75 A whole lot cheaper Funnily enough, if you're after a Shure SM58, they do these MB85 I'm beginning to see a pattern emerge So, has anyone used them and are they any good? 18.
I do wonder if they have expanded too big, too fast?
I was thinking that too, the road many companies have gone down. Hamster
  19. I go into London about once a month on business and always have a wander down Denmark Street and pop into Soundcontrol on Oxford Street - it's usually quite empty - perhaps because it's in the basement of the Virgin Megastore and doesn't have its own shop frontage. So, hardly any customers in one of the most expensive £ per sq/ft areas in the country? Hamster

    Bass tone?
Guys, How can I get a sound like Duff McKagan, in particular on the contraband album by Velvet revolver? It's bassy, yet has a reasonable amount of mid without being over-powering. Paul
His main bass is a mid-‘80s Fender Jazz Special with Seymour Duncan Hot Stack pickups and Rotosound strings. For studio he uses a GK2001RB head into two GK RBH 4x10s, an 800RB head into a GK wx15 for distortion, and for extra bite a Marshall JMP guitar head, THD Hot Plate power soak, and a Marshall 1x12 guitar cabinet. He sometimes also goes through an MXR 80 distortion box, and he used a Z-Vex Woolly Mammoth on the tune “Set Me Free” He's always used Dunlop yellow Tortex picks (.73) Any more than that, you'll have to phone the man! Hamster
  21. I've been into Andertons in Guildford quite a few times for various bits and pieces. Easy to park on the forecourt, reasonable range of MIM Fenders, Squiers, Warwicks, Ibanez's, Yamaha's. Practice room for you to doodle away in. Staff always very helpful and will cut a deal if you haggle for long enough! Stock - 8, Prices - 8, Service - 10 Hamster
