Too true! The votes have changed since I started introducing pictures as well Is she an active or passive?
Active. Colour combinations do grow on you - I might buy 2 pickguards and swap whenever I change strings Hamster
Darcy - I have the tab of Abba's version if that helps - it's fairly accurate. I don't have the Wondermints version. Hamster
Darcy - here you go. Wearing of platform boots and silver sparkle suit will help you to learn it faster (so I'm told) Hamster
Oh, handed thought about that. Got to agree about the OLP, glad I haven't eaten yet EDIT Don't mind me, choose what you like the look of. Who gives a flying monkey duck what I or anyone else thinks. Although looking at that black-white-black on black, I'm starting to wish I bought the bass.
I value other people's opinion and comments because things start to grow on you - as you've found out Hamster

I'm in the process of acquiring a nice Musicman Sub 4 from Mikey D - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=2323 I'm tempted to pimp it with a new scratchplate but I'm not sure what will look good with the matt black body? Feel free to photoshop if you're talented!! Hamster
Am thinking of adding an active pre amp to my bass to fatten the sound a little, possibly something like this, http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/shop/fl...roduct_id/17272 Ive never added a pre amp to a bass before , will i be able to have this fitted to my bass with out purchasing any other parts? how much do you think it will cost to get a music shop to fit it? The bass I want to add it to is my squier p bass special with the passive seymour duncan quarter pounders
It may fit into the control cavity, the body might need a little relief work done on it. Have you considered something a little more tailor made, which although a little more you can fit it yourself and save on the luthier fees.
It may be a related problem but I find that when I edit a post, when I look at the preview (and edited post) I loose loads of text. In fact I only seem to retain the top portion of the post that would fit in the text window. This happens every time in "full edit" mode, but seems to be ok in "quick edit" ? I also did a long (for me!) reply to a PM and the recipient told me she didn't receive any of my reply and a portion of her 'quoted' PM was missing?
Hamster edited to add "Hamster" which was not included in my original post??
just wondering if it isi just a case of ripping out old and soldering in the new . Or do you have to replace the circuits as well. Any reccomendations of some good quality reasonably priced pups for a p/j bass set up. cheers
Most of a case of carefully de-soldering and then re-soldering, but yes its simple. When you say circuit, do you mean the active bass circuit, or just the wiring on a passive bass? There are quite a few options out there - what sound are you looking for? Hamster

We'll be having a cheeky wine or three while we're there!
Oooooo I like! - Already going to a gig tonight but I see The Allstars are doing their thing at The Scoop again on 27th July - I'll be there.
I've finally got round to getting on board basschat, I was Tommy.S on bass talk and whatever else it was called before then. I play double bass, having stopped playing bass guitar 3 or so years ago after damaging my hearing. I now only play entirely acoustically and pretty much only with my band merchant (hence my user name) which is a dark post-rock/post classical group leaning towards the noise and free improv scenes, consisting of drums doublebass clarinet and occaisional additions of guest instruments> details: myspace.com/merchanttrio Cheers Thomas
Hi Thomas and welcome back!, only a few changes here - all for the better.
