1.
Anyone know if several generators can be earthed together?
I can't see it would do any harm to have them earthed together - as long as they are earthed. It would be better if each one was earthed (just a metal stake into the ground) so if one of the earths failed, there would be several others?
 2. Now sold pending payment - thanks for PM's and interest everyone
 3. This goes into the category - "I'll ask Phatmonkey - he'll know what to do"
 4. MOON! - but only if we were accompanied by a few bottles of Courvoisier
 5. Bottom picture looks like it's a bit of a matt finish ('cos I'm crap with a camera) but it is a gloss lacquer. I think they were made in the Cort factory to Fender specs, but that doesn't detract from it being a very good Tele! C'mon people - I don't want to arse around with eBay!!
 6. Generally series wiring will have a fuller and fatter midrange with a subdued high end than a pickup wired in parallel, which will typically have more highs and a deeper low end with a cleaner midrange. edit to add: If the original pickups have been rewired it might mean that a pickup that's made to sound good wired parallel might be too hot and dark sounding if wired in series - and vice versa for a series wired to parallel, perhaps too thin.
 7. I don't play these 6 string soprano basses anymore Fender Lite Ash Telecaster, excellent condition with no issues. As the blurb says it as it is, it says:

A unique Special Edition Tele for a very economical price
Birdseye Maple, 9.5 inch Radius (241mm) Fingerboard
Light Weight Ash body
Chrome Hardware
Seymour Duncan APTR-1, APTL-1, (Neck/Bridge) (AP=Alnico Pro) Pickups
Machine Heads: Cast/Sealed Tuning Machines
Bridge: Vintage Style with 3 Brass Saddles
22 Medium Jumbo Frets, Birdseye Maple, Modern “C” Shape, (Satin Polyurethane Finish)
1-Ply Black Pickguard
Fender Tele Black Plastic Parts, Abalone Dot Position Inlays, Oversized Strap Buttons
Now discontinued, this comes with a fitted Fender Telecaster case and case candy. It's going on eBay tonight for a £300 start, with a BIN of £350 Selling here for £275 - no trades thanks. Collection preferred or will meet half-way within reason.
 8. It's time for me to move this bass on that doesn't get played other than the occasional lounge outing. I've seen something that will get played that I fancy so no trades please From the serial number I think it's from October 1999 and it has 2 band EQ. Very good overall condition. There's a very small chip that has been touched up on the top face edge, only about 6mm long. The neck plate also has a hairline crack in it. I thought that the previous owner had overtightened the screws, but when I took the plate off it looks more like a slight fault in the casting of the plate itself. I tried to get a new plate with the original serial number on it but EB wouldn't oblige. Next to the plate there's a 1cm crack in just the lacquer finish. It doesn't affect the neck at all. It plays like your standard Stingray and it's strung with DR Sunbeams, action is pretty low. No issues other than what I've mentioned. Comes with Stingray original case. It's going on eBay later tonight with a start of £600 and a BIN of £700. There's an identical one on ebay now where the bidding is at £725 - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Musicman-Stingray-Ba...5#ht_698wt_1139 I'll let mine go here for £600 Collection preferred or will meet half-way within reason.
 9. I think I remember reading that another reason why you should never use instrument cable as speaker cable is that the amp is always trying to balance what is sends to the speaker with what it receives back and therefore the amp will compare what it sends out to the speaker with what it gets back. If there is any difference, the amp works to correct the difference and will try and make sure the output is the same as the input but with a greater amplitude. In an instrument cable the centre shielded wire is a lot thinner and has a higher resistance than the considerably thicker braided shield, which presents a lower resistance. Hence the amp will get 'false feedback' from the speaker and works extra hard to correct this.......... resulting in an oscillation in the power output which makes a lot of heat which is bad as it makes transistors produce magic smoke .......... (memory fading on that last bit?) That's why you should always use a cable with 'identical' wires, i.e. twin wire speaker cable. An expert will be along in a moment..........
 10. I'm guessing we've had numerous complaints about people SHOUTING in topic titles, hence a lever was pulled, and a large knob pressed. I'll just check with the other admins before I start playing with the levers and knobs
 11. I'm not aware that any changes have been made - I'll have a poke around a bit with a torch and a stick..................

 13. Hi all The admins had two enquiries from members who are suspicious about contact that they've received from a member who has recently joined. I've investigated the member and found that they are flagged as being known for scamming attempts on scam alert websites. If you have had any contact regarding sales / purchases from the member 'Jose' using an e-mail address of [email protected] or [email protected] please ignore them. The member has been banned. Thanks Hamster

I checked out their websites and they don't do 18inch speakers unless you are a manufacturer and buy in bulk. anyone have any ideas or advice?? cheers
I've used this company before - they usually have stock - http://www.bluearan.co.uk/?manselect=Emine...9&goman=yes

 19.
Their speaker cables are a bit of a bargain though.
Looks like our own OBBM will soon be out of business!
 20. For me the cab would be an easy choice - a Barefaced Compact. These however are 8ohms and into it the TC450 would only produce around 225w. The cab is very sensitive and your 225w from a TC450 would be pretty loud. If you need more power then go for the Markbass 2/3 with a Sansamp pedal to EQ your signal, or you can pick up a very nice Eden WT550 for similar bucks and the EQ on them is so powerful you won't need a Sansamp pedal - both would give you around 300w into the cab. More power - Orange Bass Terror with a Sansamp pedal - 500w.
