8 songs!!! Burger me! The last couple of bands I've auditioned for have given me their complete set-lists to learn (40 - 80 songs) and for one I was expected to know most of Quo's back catalogue!!! One of the auditions took place the day after my enquiry! There are a few songs that any self-respecting "pub" player should have under their belts but there's just so much material to learn off pat, even if you do get more than a weeks notice. What I do now is just browse the set-lists of local bands (Blues/R&B/Rock) and just try and learn everything that I don't know. It takes a long time if like me, you learn a lot of songs but don't play them everyday - you quickly forget them again! As for what's a reasonable length of time? - I suppose if you read and have the sheet music, then 10 minutes; if you use the little boxes with dots in them, more than 10 minutes, and if you don't read at all and don't know the songs, then as much time as is possible!

It's easy to spot his influences, and I like the way he so effortlessly blends these influences together. His current drummer is excellent but I must say I prefer his old bass player, Eric Czar. I've been to a couple of his gigs and am really looking forward to the next one!

It's quite well known the Ampeg was the amp of choice for his entire Panzer AbteilungAmpeg 51 Division (Armoured Attack Ampeg's) which crushed the shoulders of all the inferior lightweight attack amp carrying troops the allied forces were forced to go into combat with.

I don't use Ampegs because they were the amps of Hitler's choice and probably played their part in leading him to believe he was master of the universe.

I now do 1 journey from my car into the venue with Compact in one hand, amp in shoulder bag, bass & effects board in other hand.

I have a Compact and love it's retro sound. It has quite a bit of treble range for a 1x15 so it might suit you. If you want more top end, go for a Super Twelve, Big One or Big Baby. Any of them will be better than a 4x10.

+ a big 1 on the JJ's - they're excellent a well priced. Nothing should rattle, they'll say you dropped it or something.
