Hi - welcome to the forums. So you're working in Toronto now? good for you!
  2. I'd go with Mr waynepunkdude's recommendation: [url="http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=71550"]http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=71550[/url] [url="http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=71558"]http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=71558[/url] A really good start! (+ a few lessons!)
  3. Maybe you could give an idea about your budget? Personally, I'd go for one of these - [url="http://www.andertons.co.uk/BassGuitarAmps/pid16192/cid561/MarkBassLittleMarkTube800BassHead.asp"]http://www.andertons.co.uk/BassGuitarAmps/...800BassHead.asp[/url] Or one of these - [url="http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Genz_Benz_Heads_STL9.html"]http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...Heads_STL9.html[/url] And two of these - [url="http://barefacedbass.com/compact.htm"]http://barefacedbass.com/compact.htm[/url] A very light and compact rig that will blow your trousers off

I'm loving mine, it gives a very useful boost when I want to use it.
  5. If you like stainless strings these are excellent. If you use 'fatbeams' as a search term I'm pretty sure you'll find quite a few good comments about them on previous threads
  6. [quote name='Bankai' post='695189' date='Dec 28 2009, 09:24 PM']alright, cheers If I get this all fixed and good any idea what price it might go for?[/quote] I've seen these go (or not go) on the forum for around £225, which is cheap as chips for a nice one
  7. Hello, good evening & welcome! - Dig in!
  8. Personally I'd keep the '69 original and buy another P bass to tinker with!
  9. Please state your asking price - [url="http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?act=SR&f=19"]http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?act=SR&f=19[/url] Thanks
  10. Please clearly state the asking price - [url="http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&showtopic=71363&view=findpost&p=691868"]http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=691868[/url] Thanks
  11. I think Cliff was probably doing what you've been doing - experimenting. I've no idea what exactly he did on those solos, but you can be sure that if you don't ever find the 'perfect setting' you'll learn a good deal on trying to get there! - persevere!
  12. [quote name='stingrayfan' post='649474' date='Nov 9 2009, 10:36 AM']I'd recommend [url="http://www.stevesamps.co.uk"]Steve Rowse in Godalming[/url][/quote] He's the daddy!
  13. [quote name='ashevans09' post='646713' date='Nov 5 2009, 09:29 PM']What's your most surreal moment in music?[/quote] Morrisey
  14. If you're happy to pop the pickguard off, what numbers are written on the pot they've put in? - also perhaps take a photo to put in your post?
  15. [quote name='Dropzone' post='644587' date='Nov 3 2009, 06:55 PM']I do have a photo I can email, but can't work out how to place it onto here?[/quote] When you reply to your post or do a full edit, you'll see a browse and upload facility at the bottom right where you can upload from your PC to the website and then insert it as an attachment to the message. If the picture is on a remote server, then just add the URL to the post or use the img tags to attach an image.

  18. [quote name='EssentialTension' post='641786' date='Oct 31 2009, 11:39 AM']I don't know about the UK but - as you perhaps know already - Roger at [url="http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/Jeannie-Pickguards-and-Guitar-Parts__W0QQ_armrsZ1"]Jeannie's[/url] actually makes the guards for Lakland.[/quote] A +1 for them. I ordered one for mine and got it about a week later - excellent quality too.
  19. [quote name='BassBen' post='638201' date='Oct 27 2009, 05:25 PM']Can anyone vouch for these cabs or recommend another? Thank you,[/quote] Yes, I can vouch for them - they're excellent. Talk with Alex in his sub forum - [url="http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showforum=73"]http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showforum=73[/url] - and he'll give you good advice.

  23. At least get a quote to get it repaired and show it to him so he can see the real cost of the damage - perhaps he'll feel guilty and cough up some more?
  24. [quote name='Ou7shined' post='633086' date='Oct 22 2009, 01:24 AM']True, but given the short time we have until the final we are just going to change the lyrics to existing songs.[/quote] That's what the Salvation Army did for many years, and very effective it is too! - just look at Coldplay for example
