2. It won't pass a PAT test and if you put it into a tech for a service he won't (shouldn't) work on it unless he also replaces it with an IEC. They also come in 2 sizes - 14mm and 21mm if you were thinking of buying a plug from ebay to get it running.
 3.
The zoom B2.1U is an excellent starter effects pedal.
For the money, it's really very good and will help you find the effects you really like.
 4. Looks like it's a MIM as well so it's probably too much even if the board was sweet?
 5. I had a quick twiddle with it at the Bass Bash - it's really nice, and soooooooo light! I was well tempted but bought a fretless Jazz!
 6. I went through this. I compared a Lakland 55/01 and a 55/02 with a Fender 5 and a Stingray 5. To my ears the Laklands won by a country mile on that bottom B and playablility, the 55/02 was a little better than the 55/01 but really not enough to justify the price hike.
 7.
Bass Direct Special at £679
That does make things difficult! I'm in the market for a lightweight head and have been waiting for the Orange Bass Terror BT500 to try out but the delivery date slips back every time I look and Orange don't reply to my e-mails? Markbass is nice, the LMII is a nice amp but I'd like to hear the LM800 tube, - And then there's this.......... I quite liked the Shuttle 6.0 I played at CK's place and Alex's? 6.0 at the Bass Bash so I think it's a 2 horse race between the LM800 tube at £750 or the GB 9.0 at £680! Anyone done an A/B yet?
 8. I've got Devil's Halo - I must say I was a litle disappointed too.
 9. TBH I've not heard many bad reports about Andertons, I go in there quite a lot and have always had really good service - just goes to show how careful you have to be when employing staff! Best wishes for the op!
 10.
Where's the best shop for trying out new amps. I have a £1500 budget and need to try as many options as possible. Would love to try Markbass, Eden etc...
I'll be the first - http://www.thebassgallery.com/index2.html
 11.
A few people know exactly what it is. Its a first for Barefaced.
When you asked him for a pink sequins and diamante finish I never thought Alex would do it for you..........
 12. After a very quick count up, we've made at the moment £415 for charity! - Thank you all so much for being so generous! There are still a few things to sell so the amount will go up a bit more. There are also some raffle prizes to sort out/send out to those who either couldn't make it or had to go early - I'll send PM's after I've had my fill of cold cold lager - so sometime in late November then!
 13. If anyone needs a contact number at the Bash, use this one which is BACKWARDS here for the sake of web spiders etc: deleted now bash is over
 14.
Hi all, any advice offered for a gigging virgin? I've just started rehearsals with my first band and am desperate to get a good sound out of my Markbass CMD 102p Head II combo. I spent ages getting a sound I liked in my flat, at low volume, but surprise surprise after cranking it up in the local club all my tone vanished and it just sounded pig awful. Forget about the fact that it's DI'ed through the PA, the actual sound coming from my amp is quite disheartning. I really know little about EQing principles, are there any basic concepts I need to be aware of, such as "never have the gain past ##o'clock etc? Now I know that my amp should be quite capable of producing a great sound, for £1100 I would hope so anyway, it's just trying to get it! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Nortski.
If you're anywhere near Surrey, there's a Bass Bash tomorrow 10 October with a 'seminar' on tone and acoustics you might find useful? See the link in my sig
 15.
Hi Folks With not enough takers for set-ups, I've cancelled Graham coming up tomorrow which is a bit of a shame. I didn't think it would be fair for him to trek all the way up there (which for him is about a 100 mile round trip) just to do 1 or 2 set-ups at most.. As reference for next time, are set-ups on the day of a Bash not of much interest then? Nik
I did put my name down for a setup on a previous list - but that still only makes 2 of us - I thought it would be more popular?
 16.
Just to let y'all know, I shall be bringing the following from the Barefaced stable: 2 x Midget, 2 x Compact, 1 x Big One. Alex
I'll leave my compact at home then! It'll be interesting to A/B a Big One with my BFM Omni15 TallBoy
 17.
I've just asked the school if they have a wireless network they could let me use for the day, if they have and can, I'll take my laptop and make it available for anyone who wants to use it for GAS attacks!
Just heard back, no wireless available
 18.
If it's possible to do PayPal (or similar) transactions on the day on one person's laptop (I've no idea how that would all work) then that would be a real help for those of us planning to do some trading. Wouldn't you need a Wi-Fi connection at the school, though?
I've just asked the school if they have a wireless network they could let me use for the day, if they have and can, I'll take my laptop and make it available for anyone who wants to use it for GAS attacks!

 20. The good Mrs Hamster, who will be serving coffee, tea, pastries & soft drinks wants to know if there are going to be any other "better halves" coming so she doesn't have to sit and listen to a load of blokes talking about their shiny things all day......?
 21. For the sake of clarity through the thread and the several 'quotes' I'm repeating the update regarding our final choice of adopted charities here, and amending the previous charity details which are now out of date. Hamster UPDATE on the charities for the Bash: Any profits from the day will be donated as follows: 1. The Prostate Cancer Charity (40%) 2. The Orpheus Centre (40%) 3. African Children's Choir (10%) 4. The Blue Cross (10%) For anyone who wants more details about the amazing work of these charities, have a look below: The Prostate Cancer Charity The Orpheus Centre The African Children's Choir The Blue Cross
 22. For those struggling to get car transport, I'm sure we can arrange something to shuttle people to and from nearby train stations - the nearest are: Addlestone Chertsey Byfleet & New Haw Weybridge ...and while I'm here........ Is there anyone who would be willing to do some shuttle runs in their car between the venue & local rail stations? (less than a couple of miles)
 23.
Looks like ped is doing some housekeeping..
The damage he can do with a pinny and a feather duster!
 24.
where'd it go?!
An investigation is under way................
 25. Presuming you're buying the ply from a timber merchants ask in there? When I bought the ply for my projects, I asked the guy in the timber merchants if he'd cut the boards up to my precise measurements. Took him all of 30 minutes on his giant machine and they all came out +/- 1mm and cost me a £10 drink.
