Another +1 on Steve Rowse. He's very old school, and is a very straightforward guy to deal with. Take a pack of biscuits with you to munch with the tea he'll give you whilst you watch him do his voodoo.

I had a similar issue with a cheap copy. The board had quite a bit of overspray from the lacquer finish and I had to remove that with some fine wire wool before I could bring up the grain with some lemon oil - YMMV.

I just happened to be listening to this album for the N th time on the way home yesterday - Willie Weeks on the 'Voices Inside' track is excellent.

+1 on the above - an excellent bass and the sound is so similar to a Stingray that I couldn't really tell any difference. Nice necks, great hardware, Stingray electronics = bargain.
