1. What cabs are you using and how much power do you want?
2. I sold my Sub4 to poorcow, and I think he was toying with the idea of selling the black abalone plate I fitted? Worth a PM? Here's the pics - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=411498
3. I'm certain that I got my Sub 4 scratchplate from WDMusic, but have just checked and they don't list them anymore. The advice that I got at the time was that the Stingray pattern pickguards would not fit, but I've just found a recent post on the ErnieBall forums that suggests the Stingray pattern will fit? Time to try one from WDMusic and see if it will fit? - he's a really helpful guy there.
4. I changed the one on mine and the Stingray guards will not fit a Sub. There are quite a few places where you can get the Sub ones though.
5. I did this the other week to my P just because I had it's guts out. It wasn't very noisy to begin with, but now there is no noise whatsoever from it. I just used the sheet stuff from Axesrus and ran some solder into each join to ensure continuity.

7.
This great little amp is up for sale £300 perfect condition with a mark bass padded case!450 watts with two 8 ohm cabs.
Is there any particular reason you've duplicated your for sale thread which is in this same section? 8.
One of the best advisers on valves (IMO), is someone who goes under the moniker of 'Oxblood', residing on Finnbass. Shoot a post there, you'll get some some practical advice, along with the good responses here.
Zerofret on this forum is also a bit of a valve aficionado
9. Nothing like shopping around - try these:- http://www.chelmervalve.co.uk/index.htm http://www.watfordvalves.com/ http://www.hotroxuk.com/ http://stores.ebay.co.uk/COLOMOR-VALVES-TUBES-COMPONENTS http://www.tubetown.de/index.html
10. Why 100k? - hard to find and a bit of a dark tone unless you're running an active bass. Then again, if you're running an active bass, 25k is more usual. If you want a warm tone on a passive go for 250/250 or 500/500 for brighter. I run a 500/500 stacked pot on my P and it sounds warm enough for me. Have a look at www.axesrus.com for bits
11. It was thanks to The Oscar Peterson Trio with Ray Brown and later Joe Pass & NHOP that I was drawn towards the darkside that is jazz
12.
Nice, there was a little over-singing.......
Yep - I thought he had a few Maria Carey and Beyonce CD's in his collecion too.
13.
Well I'll - er - address that at some point in the future. When I've got a bit more cash, I'll wait until you buy another P Bass Nick and then I'll take it off your hands!!
OHM has already replaced the one he sold to me! How about John_The_Apostate
14. Hello G - welcome to the forums! The search function is a useful tool to get the hang of, but don't worry about asking dumb questions. Asking dumb questions is my speciality, so you're in good company
15. As the advice has been given, Peter has the bass, and this thread is going downhill.................... Time to put it to bed
16. Is the output low on the D and G on both pickups, or just one of them? What's the string height like on the D and G strings? Have you checked the DC resistance of each pickup?
17.
I really think that some you should go back and read part 6 of the introduction which outlines the conduct and behaviour of members on this forum. I find a lot of the things said on these pages offensive, accusatory, and even liabelous. Some of you seem to think that your status outside of this gives you the right to slag off anyone and everyone without any real understanding of the situation at hand. Some of you don't even have a clue what you are talking about. If you spent just half the time you do writing these scathing reports on shops and websites etc as you do on actually playing bass then maybe you wouldnt be so frustrated. I find it childish, futile and pathetic that some of you feel the need to be so anally retentive. To me this sums up everything depressing and tragic about these so-called forums. If this the way you carry on behind peoples' backs then it's no wonder that YOU are the ones who get a reputation for being difficult. Its pathetic and god help anyone who has to deal with you.
Hello sonny-d, and first of all welcome to the forums! Secondly, try one of these: Thirdly, without prejudice, if you consider that you personally, or the business entity that you officially represent has been the subject of a libellous comment, then the moderation team will be happy to look into the issue, hear both sides of the specific defamation and take appropriate action. Just click on the '! report' icon of the specific comment that you consider libellous. You will be asked to explain your reasoning behind the report, your status as either the prospective plaintiff or prospective plaintiff's agent (including who the plaintiff is if this is the case) and the poster who made the specific comment/remark will also be asked to justify their claims. If you however, have just come here to unload some feelings, then at least you have read the guidelines before doing do - and well done for that! Kind regards The Moderation Team
18. The first one is too tatty, second one is nicer - but I'm with you on buying cheaper! There's just no guarantee that they'll play or sound better than a Fender that's less than 1/10th the price,
19.
The strings are a slightly heavier gauge to the Chromes.
That's what I was going to ask you. Just a little increase in gauge can make a big enough difference to get fret buzz.
20. Thanks for your kind comments I've ordered a set of cream covers to try them on for size & appearance, for a couple of quid it's not a big loss is I don't like them - and I'm sure I'll sell them on to a Jazz owner somewhere.........
