1. I think the 3 string bass would be more a break from the norm!
2.
I have some SERIOUS post christmas GAS for a bongo, hence the selling of my jazz and my tobias....
Ummmmmmmmmm - Bongo! - 2HH?
3. I have to admit, every Ashdown product I've ever owned - 3 amp heads and 2 cabs have either burned out or sounded very muddy. SX basses - they really aren't that good - just about ok for the money. Brand snobbery - of which I suppose I'm also guilty of
4. No such thing as an idiot level question - is there? Good idea as long as it's a flame-free zone!
5. I've read a few posts about pickup upgrades for the Lakland 55 series. I was toying with the idea of a pair of Nordstrands, but I'm not sure about which ones in particular to go for. I'd like a pair which keep the versatility of the originals as I play several styles of music. Anyone here done a similar upgrade with Nordies or other makes, and what were the results? Taverymuchindeed
6.
With the 2 humbuckers and 3 band EQ it should be capable of either really.
+1 - Mine will do both with ease - and the authority of the low B is amongst the very best I've heard from an off the shelf bass.
7. OBBM! Either PM him or visit his website - http://www.bassic-bits.co.uk/

Hi
At the moment, I'm at university studying psychology.
Please help. I have terrible GAS and it's got much, much worse since I found this site - is there a cure? Wibble
10.
There is an extended repeat showing on Friday 9th on BBC2 at 11.35pm (The Culture Show) which should be even better.
Thanks for the heads up! - I have a date with the telly
11. How can we manage without one? Can you sue them if it breaks your strings?
12. Very nice! - where did you source it from?
13. The Ibanez is very nice, with a narrow neck and string spacing to match. Traben looks nicer but I haven't played one. Be different and go for the Traben!
14. Just pop the control plate off and squirt it in any opening into the pot, twisting as you squirt to work the dirt/dead skin/bacon butty fat/dried beer etc out of it.
15. First port of call should be Servisol switch & contact cleaner, good stuff.
16.
I've sat down and given myself a stern talking-to about 2009. I intend to neither buy or sell a bass this year. I said the same in 2008 and failed miserably after about 4 weeks. After that, well things got obscenely crazy.....I daren't even begin to list the ins and outs. All I know is that it has cost me more money than is decent and I'm actually embarassed by my compulsive, selfish behaviour. So, 2009 is time to grow up a bit and be grateful for what I've got. After all the shenanigans of 2008, I'm left with the best Fender P bass I've ever played, my Shuker 5 string and a beautiful Ric 4003. All this goes through a GB Shuttle 6.0 and an Epifani UL310. I really can't see me wanting/needing anything else to my gear. I really can't. We'll see what happens over the year, but I hope I'm strong enough to stick to my guns this time. Wish me luck
Ummmmmmmmm - how much do you want for the Fender P? - I have bad New Year GAS
17. Ummmmmmmmm - your crimes against bass are numerous and despicable! But we believe in redemption! - even for saxomophone players - Welcome
18.
Maple/Black/Black is my fave P combination - Nice !
True, and maybe a nice fretless 3TS with a tort plate like WOT's to make a nice pair!
19. Normferatu's the best - at what he does
20. The lesson? ....................... Don't respray a bass when you've had a magic mushroom omelette followed by a pint of Absinthe
21. I must have a long sit down with a Spector the next time I'm in the Gallery. Vey nice
22.
MB1. Limehouse Lizzy! by any chance?
Indeed - a true tribute. If anyone hasn't seen them they're missing a really great show.
