I've used them a few times and never had a problem - usually a really fast service.

It has to feel right in your hands. You have to really like playing it. The tone & sound can all be tweaked later. Remember, you'll play better with a really comfortable bass that feels "right" and costs £250 than a bass that doesn't feel "right" but has a tone to die for and costs £5000.

Deffo one for a professional luthiers advice. If doing it at home I'd have a go with hydrogen peroxide which imho would do the least damage to the wood.

Same approach here - KISS. More knobs = more twiddling. But having said that I wonder how many owners have put their 2EQ Stingray through a 12 channel graphic

IMHO this forum would have done a better job. As for people to interview, there are a few here who could talk about their GAS OCD and BBC could edit an agony column

I haven't played any Indie basses, but I've played a few of their guitars - they were pretty good I'll keep my eyes open for a bass to try.

I have a Vintage P bass. The neck is a sort of P/J hybrid and it plays like butter. Easily as good as a MIM Fender P and miles better than my SX P bass.
